      As far as I know the code will be valid until June 7th. But since it’s subscription you will anyway get the latest version as long as your subscription is valid. At least it was like this with V-Ray 5 to 6

    Hi Jonas! As a Cinema 4D user I can say that C4D Standard Render has all these options to change environment reflections and refractions, even GI per object! But as almost no one uses the native renderer anymore due to the acquisition of Redshift by C4D, I don't know how it works, since I use Corona! But I think there must be something similar in Redshift!

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell 2 місяці тому +1

      Hi, yes many renderers offer some of the shown features, however not to the same extent V-Ray does. From my knowledge TraceSets and the ability to Override Environment per Shader and blend with scene environment are exclusive to V-Ray, though I'm no expert in ALL render engines and every single feature they offer. If someone know another Engine that supports those 2 features please let me know here in the comments :-)
      Redshift offers also good flexibility and among the GPU renderers it is one of the more flexible ones from my experience. FStorm and Octane were much more restricted in that regard.

      @@JonasNoell Yes, indeed! I agree with you! I personally only use Corona, there are some Cinema 4D tags that you apply to the object to work in the same way as V-Ray, you just apply the tag to the object and you can change it individually! Regarding Redshift, there is a guy on the internet who knows a lot about Cinema 4D and Redshift, his name is Render Baron, there are a lot of videos of him explaining Redshift and C4D's Native Render. A good recommendation if you are interested in researching more on the subject! Thank you! 😀

    Maybe I’m wrong but vrays implementation of cryptomatte still doesn’t support transparent or refracted objects like arnold…. or I don’t know how to set it up….

    an interesting video. in fact, everything shown except the last point (object properties /trace sets) is supported in corona renderer. but this trace sets interesting tool, although not often such functions will be useful

      How about the possibility to add a custom environment based on shaders (as shown in 6:35)? Is that supported by Corona?
      Trace Sets are quite useful but it depends on your line of work. I do often Product Vizualisations and there it can help a ton.

      @@JonasNoellabout environment override on material slot.yes. Its possible on corona renderer.
      it is also surprising that the reiswitch material in the corona has slightly more parameters, for example, it can take into account the relief from the displacement map and this is an additional option. although Vray usually has similar maps/tools with more additional functions

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell 2 місяці тому +1

      For me normally CPU, but that has pipeline reasons. I would just choose whatever hardware you have. If you have any recent GPU it will most likely outperform your CPU. I have a video about this topic in my channel as well

      @@JonasNoell I watched this video. but there are simple materials and a pretty simple scene.. I would like to see a comparison in complex scenes. and what do you think about using vray gpu in the archvis?

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell 2 місяці тому +3

      @sahaksahakyan2404 I’m testing a bit with more complex scenes recently and frankly I haven’t noticed the issues some people were mentioning. Startup time was very similar if not the same to CPU rendering and performance wise it put my HighEnd CPU to shame. For reference I used up roughly 13 GB of memory in the scene. So I’m not entirely sure where those complaints come from, but I would still want to do more testing.

    Hi,
    in Corona Renderer - Rayswitch Material or Rayswitch Map will give you the option to locally override GI, Reflection, Refraction, and Direct Visibility.
    There are also Reflect and Refract BG overrides in the shader UI itself.
    Of course, it's not the same as in V-Ray, but each engine has its pros and cons.

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell 2 місяці тому

      Yeah agree about the pros and cons, some engines are quite restricted in terms of flexibility though which for me in my line of work is a problem. V-Ray for me offers a production proven, robust and flexible renderer with the most complete featureset, and most advanced VFB on the pro side. On the con side I would say the usability should be better/easier and it takes much longer to learn/master it. I personally don't mind or can work around the cons, but I guess many do. I found Corona in general much easier to start with. I also did a video about this back in the day (can find in my channel) comparing V-Ray and Corona and was able to convince Chaos to port some of the features over to V-Ray (Finite Dome Light) :-)
      For the Refl/Refr BG in the shader for Corona, that's great to hear it is also supported. Can you also blend with the scene environment based on distance like in V-Ray using the DimDistance Parameters?

    • @dd-brr5993
      @dd-brr5993 2 місяці тому

      @@JonasNoell No, coronauts cannot blend the distance and do not have special Corona Object Properties options. I only know that some other feature in Corona 12 will be introduced - an option to select objects in the scene that will be included in or excluded from environment illumination.
      When I was working with V-Ray (versions 4 and 5), I really missed some essential features like good denoising, especially denoising while texture baking, consistent LightCache calculation for the whole frame during region re-rendering, and other features like multi-regions, interactions with render regions while rendering etc etc... Sometimes I think it would be great to have all the features and development philosophies somewhere in the middle of both engines :)
