It takes a couple of years or longer before the prospects are good. Not just coming up, but good enough to make a difference like PCA. Some of us have waited a long time just to finally live long enough to see 2016!

    • @MINNESOTA_PTSD
      @MINNESOTA_PTSD 3 дні тому

PCA could of made a difference from the jump. And I’d argue 2 things about PCA.
      1. His development isn’t a product of the Cubs system/coaching. It’s simply a talented player figuring things out on his own.
      2. To build further on that point. PCA OBP is incredibly low compared to his batting avg. A player of his
caliber/skillset that doesn’t walk and posts an OBP that fails to hit
50 points higher than his batting average, is mind blowing.
The 1 guy in the entire Cubs organization that you would want to develop a high OBP?????
      IS PCA.
And yet somehow, PCA has the worst
AVG TO OBP on the entire roster.
      I mean …. It’s so sad it’s almost comical.

What happened to the Theo era? Ricketts wanted the first championship to raise prices and upgrade Wrigleyville. After that, 85 wins was ok. Plus, Theo wanted a winner and a winning culture. I have not seen that Ricketts and Hoyer want a regular contender.

Tauchman stays, I think everybody agrees, as your 4th outfielder and late-inning PH option. Mastrabouni gone, Madrigal, long gone; Wisdom has been bad but he needs to play more to keep his timing. Let him earn a spot in ST. Also, I’m not convinced that Bethancourt can’t share time Amaya rather than going with another retread. That also leaves you room to insert Ballesteros at some point next summer.

You gotta remember that Wisdom and Mastro are toast. If people were not "tradeable" this team would have 100 wins. This team would HAVE 100 wins had they not blown 25 saves or so. Cody was hurt. The team has sucked with runners on. But starting pitching has been good, even with all the injuries. The bullpen has been good too. They just can't lock it down in the 9th. There is no way you trade Nico and Busch. They play defense and hit. Granted Nico has been weak in the dinger area, but he has 30 doubles and 40 steals and a gold glove. In theory you could get rid ot the 3rd baseman but he is cheap and under control and has 20 dingers and plays good defense. Shaw is a guy you have on the roster and move him around and get him some ABs and ease him into the bigs, along with adding an arm for the 8th or 9th a nd getting one more good pitcher. They are literally super close. I think we keep both catchers, that position is set. You do NOT bring in the Panda for 300 million. That's saying he is 250 million dollars better than Busch. No he ain't. He's slow, not good on the bag, and hits .240. Yes, 35 dingers is nice. Or 40. But a big lumbering strike out king who can't catch? I think not. Panda at 1st and Shaw at 2nd weakens the team defense. Cody and Michael are way better defensively and Nico is better than Shaw. What did Dansby say? Nico has a stronger arm than him. Nope, we need a closer and a pitcher. Happ, Cody, PCA, Tauchman and Suzuki are your 5 outfielders. Again, with all the blown saves, this team is already at 105 wins. You cannot spend 200 or 300 million on the Mets 1b. There is a reason the Mets are not signing him to 300 million. He can't run or catch. He's not an athlete. He's a big dude who hits dingers. So did Greg Luzinski.

Adding one player to this team won't do it. An elite pitcher, a legitimate closer, an impact bat, and a good third baseman. So that's a lot of money that needs to be spent after the season is over. Ricketts won't spend that much. So 2025 is going to be another 2024.

He restocked the farm system. Everyone I heard thought signing Counsell was a gutsy, brilliant move.
He deserves credit for those moves.
There are several things I believe he needs to do to take steps toward winning the division.
      1) make room for at least Matt Shaw or Owen Caissie…preferably both. (Trade at least 2 of Happ, Suzuki or Hoerner or Paredes)
      2) Sign a Lesteresque #1 starter.

@@joecasey1329 I've been a Cub fan since the early 70s no I'm not an expert just a fan with and opinion you sound like some of the fans that go to the ballpark now as long as the sun is shining an the beer is cold it's ok

@@georgemartigani2214 that’s because you’re not too bright. I’ve been watching the Cubs since the late 60s. The difference between me and you is I have actually learned the game through playing, coaching and managing baseball leagues. I’m not a fanatic who buys all the talk radio level garbage you apparently do. I have the ability to think for myself. I have zero respect for clowns who regurgitate the nonsense spewed on sports talk radio. I call balls and strikes. I don’t make clownish calls for firing GMs without considering everything he’s done. You’re an empty headed parrot who has the nerve to condescend to someone else based upon meathead comments you hear and emoting like a schoolgirl.

We all know there is less than a week left in the season, but there must be some way to shed $900K and get under the salary cap?

Jed’s safe. He’s probably got 2 years left if things don’t change. Jed’s got a load of prospects about to hit the majors.

@@MichaelBoldygathere are always some top prospects that don't translate to the majors.
At least a few of Shaw, Caissie, Alcantara, Canario, Ballesteros, Triantos will turn out to be good pros. Cam Smith is the real deal, as well.
The problem is Jed and company won't make room by getting rid of the 1) mediocre guys ahead of them (Happ, Hoerner, Tauchman) and 2) awful bench scrubs (Wisdom, Mastrobuoni, Madrigal).

@TheLearningCatalystCoach There are no sure things when it comes to prospects. Don't count your chickens before they hatch . Other than Alcantara none of those guys have taken a big league at bat and Alcatara didn't look to be MLB ready .
