7 years since it was axed by Channel 4, the popular gameshow is making a comeback! But why now? Why a new host in Stephen Mullhern, where is NOEL EDMONDS? And will the revived programme be able to recapture the same popularity on ITV like it had over on 4? This version of Deal or No Deal will consist of 20 special episodes to air during the year. It has been confirmed that this version will not be for daytime, but prime time, most likely Saturday nights. However the 20 episodes will be spread out during the year. Noel Edmonds sadly has burnt his bridges with the British media and is now retired, living in New Zealand.
Likely the first lot will be after this series of Saturday Night Takeaway finishes.
I love the programme and I'm glad it is coming back to our screens
Channel 4 felt they gave Deal or No Deal plenty of love and care from it's launch in 2005 until it concluded in 2016. From what I have heard, Channel 4 felt it was time for the new version to have a new home, as it would make it fresher, so they passed on it.
If Deal or No Deal returns as a daytime gameshow then I would wish it would replace repeats of either Tenable or Lingo, But If Deal or No Deal returns as a primetime gameshow then it would replace Celebrity Lingo.
I would replace Dickinsons real deal

@@Randomtv19645 I thought the return of Deal or No Deal would be at 3pm instead of at 4pm. But OK choose which ever time you want before 5pm.
I’m hoping that when it does come back, they up the top prize to £1,000,000 as well as bring back features such as Box 23, the Offer button, and the Blue Boxes as well.
Should go up to £500,000 box 23 feature needs to be used if you want to trade your money eg if you win £250K use box 23 to double, Triple, quadruiple ect or lose it all.
Only thing I hope they don't bring back is Double Trouble since you got to play once but what you can win is halved because you have to share your winnings with another player. Or was it optional to take part in those shows? I just wonder because I never watched Deal much when they started doing that and I know if I went on the show I'd go alone.

What I also think is they should spread Box 23 across 5 boxes so all 5 possibilities are truly possible. If you're lucky to have +£10,000 in your game, you're pretty much guaranteed to win a large sum of money unless you're a whimp and won't gamble small winnings, whereas if Nothing ends up in your game then you've got a black hole hanging over whatever you win.

I just can't imagine it ever having the same appeal, without Noel. He brought more out of the format than should ever have really existed. It's a game of chance. It's the throwing of a die. But Noel made it about belief, strength of conviction, bravery, mind games against the banker, spirituality, and the notion that tactics could somehow alter a random outcome. It was all illogical, yet somehow Noel sold it to you. His self conviction that random could be overcome was infectious, and I just don't see any other person ever being able to draw you in to that deeper level of gameplay. He's a very tough act to follow.
I think ITV will adopt the original Netherlands format. It was a lot more glitzy, with 22 hosts/hostesses each carrying one of the numbered boxes.
I really expect the top prize in the revival will be either £500,000 or even £1,000,000.

I have a question when do you think that deal or no deal will be on the telly? I know that it is being filmed now but only until the end of July right? 😊
Filming in July and the way things are sounding it maybe a weekly format going forward. Not replacing the chase as first predicted.
While I am happy to see Deal Or No Deal coming back, I do not believe Mulhern is the best host because he has been on absolutely everything in recent years. If anything, I am kind of sick of seeing hosting everything on ITV

They're a bit vague about everything regarding scheduling. We don't even really know if it's a full ongoing commission or a short run (unless I missed something). I wouldn't be surprised to see an initial short run as a filler for a few weeks between runs of The Chase, in the same timeslot. Or alternatively to bridge between series of Tipping Point in that timeslot.
They're probably wanting to test the waters with a short run given that the original was cancelled due to lack of viewers.

I like the American version with comedian Howie mandel so a comedian like Stephen would be a good chnage
I think the show would work in a Sunday teatime slot similar to Family Fortunes or Celebrity Lingo.
They've got to find Stephen Mullhern something to do now they've axed Rolling In It
I think it’s a shame they don’t connect this show with say the festive period - I remember watching it with Christmas and Halloween additions and I think a run in December once a year would be welcome. But I get why they are doing once a week that’s kind of what people would be up for watching.

I’m a big fan of The Chase, now; at least you can learn something by watching it.
My wife isn’t a fan of Stephen, so she says she won’t be watching…

3:18 oh yes, that period of SMTV where it fell apart, but before they resorted to SMTV gold where they just replayed the clips of Ant and Dec
If it were to go to primetime I hope it wouldn't lose the cosiness of the original UK version, the small studio, the contestants opening boxes, too much bigness and glossiness could ruin that for me

I like Deal or No Deal, I watched the US version of Deal or No Deal where it's briefcases instead of boxes and Howie Mandel is the host. And it was on NBC and then it was in syndication until it was cancelled then it came back on CNBC.

Greatest Game show of all time like how? They was no Questions and 95% of show was just padding and other 5% opening boxes.
How do the legalities work? Did Channel 4 have to pass on it first?
Unlike Big Brother, I guessed correctly that it was returning. Gladiators, less so.
Pressed dislike by accident then changed to like (feedback shared with the creator), I do want to see this show back so looking forward to it. Channel 4 did occasionally show it around 6.30pm at weekends, but it was mostly 4-5pm.
The ITV 5 channels ident, deliberately not including citv as that should be 6 channels! itv have lost all these as extra channels, ITV News, ITV Sport, ITV Play & ITV Encore.

I'm unlikely to be 📺. Its not the same without Noel Edmonds & not being on C4. I love C4. I'd wish it was C4 doing repeats, not the Challenge channel (Sky) (which did not need to exist for me)
ITV Gamehsiw (weekdays) are lingo/tenable at 3pm tipping point at 4pm and the chase at 5pm people will cry like babies if the chase or tipping point aren’t on so it could only be at 3pm (or prime time)

No, not Mulhern. The presenter needs an ounce of compassion for the players, and he really isn't right for this.
If you're putting Stephen Mulhern in it, you might as well use Noel Edmonds.
It Does Help his case in my book that he looks like Bloody Jimmy Fallon (NBC'S Tonight Show for the ones of you living under a rock lol!) So he automatically gets my vote
Recently David dickinson quit dickinson's real deal on itv 1 meaning that's probably gonna and I imagine they will Fit Deal or no Deal will fit in that time slot
Never watched it the first time round - Doubt I'd watch it this time.
It just isn't the same without Noel... they're going to make it a parody of its former self like Keith Lemon did with Through The Keyhole.

I think it’s too Late For Any Gameshows To Come Back To TV. The Gameshows That Are Still going Are The Only one’s that’ll be able To Stay Afloat. But of course I’ll give it a go!

It’s a long winded game, that really can and should be, completed much quicker than 45 mins or so. Tipping point is another example.

I can't see Noel coming back to host it or getting involved with a reboot in any way. Seems he's done with the UK media scene and has settled in New Zealand doing a radio thing over there.
Given the original run was axed due to low ratings (Noel's comments at the time likely sealed the decision), I think ITV are taking a huge risk bringing it back in any slot. By the time it was cancelled, viewership had crashed hard even before Channel 4 moved it out of the tea time slot. They might run it when The Chase goes on hiatus perhaps? I can't see it succeeding to be honest; it's a game of chance rather than skill at the end of the day.

Even though Stephen is good at doing Catchphrase, but i'm still not sure about him presenting Deal or No Deal UK revival to replace Noel Edmonds but i'll have to see what he really does from that program.
And for Mr Blobby in a thumbnail, if he does appear as a Banker or making a special appearance... (more likely special appearance) that would be funny to see.

I think TV companies should concentrate on creating new gameshows rather than bringing back old ones, cos 9 times out of 10 the revival isn't as good as the original. Plus in Deal's case, 7 years isn't long enough for it to warrant a revival just yet imo
Also, couldn't they find someone other than Stephen Mulhern to present the reboot? He already does In for a Penny, Catchphrase and makes appearances on various other shows. I don't mind him but I don't think he's amazing. I preferred him when he did kids TV, particularly on shows like Finger Tips and The Quick Trick Show

I'm sure that Mulhern is a nice man, but his presenting style is so annoying to me, probably because he's used to presenting for a younger audience. I know that Noel can't do it because, I think he's getting too old to do it. Anyone but Mulhern.
He’s done a lot of shows since his Fingertips days on CITV. However, people have stated he’s not very nice.

Why no noel edmonds? ITV clearly love mr blobby (who can blame them) so that’s confusing, and i dislike stephen mulhern. His voice is rubbery.
