Nov 13 2018 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3 ....you have saved me ....I get cold and can't warm up I've neuraphy in my hands and feet chemo has made it worse.......any whooooo.....you saved me I laugh and cry...happy tears and craft...till I can't no mo!!!! Love you and pleeese we get snow and cold it stays till the 4th of July!!!!!!!!! My family lives in Colorado...I see them quite often....you take care love and hugs to you and your hubby...💕

So sorry about your husband's accident, Nik. I hope he is on his way to feeling better. Having to deal with bull pucky car shysters on top of that is mind blowing (I can't believe this whole approach to selling cars hasn't disappeared yet. Thought it was to supposed to). I've been known to simply say "do you want me to buy a car from you...or don't you." Your story is a reminder that we all must be willing to walk away from a sale. It was good to see you again Nik. I hope your “orbit” gets back to normal soon. I can relate to the car buying experience. A few years ago my husband wanted to buy the Jeep he’s been wanting. So we went to the dealership, found the one he wanted, spoke with the salesman who spoke to the “brain in charge” to okay the deal. When it got to the payment I pulled out my checkbook and asked for the amount, the guy looked at me like I had all of a sudden grew another nose!! Then came the “you don’t want to finance? We offer very good rates”. Then it was my turn for the crazy look. “Oh hell no! We don’t do debt!! We will be paying cash”. Well that reply sucked the air out of the room! They don’t like that so much! Not as bad as your story but crazy nonetheless. Thanks so much for the freebie. Be well!! 😊🌸
No matter what is happening, no matter what I am doing, I drop it all and watch Nik the second that notification comes on. This is a fun project, thank you! Buying a car is worse than getting a root canal! If you are not too far away from Boulder, I would highly recommend Fisher Honda; they treated us well and didn’t play a bunch of mind games with us when we had to replace our car a few years ago. They have an Acura dealership, too. (No financial connections, just felt like they were the best car dealer I have ever dealt with.) Good luck recovering from the wreck and getting back to normal!

My daughter was in an accident this past summer. She is okay now but it did take a while. Btw, what the car dealer did is called false advertising and it is illegal. You were right to walk away from that dealership, I worked for one for over 2 years...and this one you dealt with should not have put a price online without a disclaimer about it's accuracy due to pending repairs and or adjustments....they should have sucked it up....they will find someone who is not as smart to buy it...and that's fine....great dealerships are not sleazy like this one....you should have said, suck it up man, that's the price of doin' business when you mess up, not the customer's fault...haha... thanks for puttin a digi out there...it was a lovely thing to do.....now go do something for yourself to pamper yourself! as you said: what are ya gonna do?! Life happens, and venting is definitely warranted and deserved and we who love you don't mind listening ..LOVE YA!

Its seems to be all departments in a dealership. Just this week dealership service dept tried to sell me a part for double what local mechanic told me. And their sky high labor charges change so often they were written on the white board in erasable marker.

Sorry you had such a terrible week! We bought a new (used) car in February. Mind you we live 1.5 hours away from the dealership and they insisted we should buy the extended warranty. Finally they said, bare bones warranty would only cost us $2 more a month. We finally agreed. But what they didn't tell us was that it would extend the period on the loan by 2 years. We bought the car but hubby felt like he had been had. He cancelled the extended warranty 2 days later and got the money back on it but I know what you mean, shady is as shady does! Buyer beware!

I thought it was because I was a woman that the car dealer screwed me, but years later when I went with my husband and the car dealer tried to screw us. It was at that moment I realized there might be something to the stereotype of the shady car dealer. Good luck in getting the truck your husband needs and for easy times ahead. 🌻

my husband has been in the market for a new work vehicle and we recently made a trip to look over one that he was interested in. it's so frustrating that they act as if they are doing YOU a favor, when you are, in fact, the one who will possibly doing that...if you choose to purchase from them. but the end price compared to what is initially presented...it's just ridiculous..sketchy, is the right word

Don't buy a car on line. Walk into a new car dealership (which also always sells used cars too). Don't smile. Look for the truck you want. Tell the salesman you want to test drive it. Make them test drive it so you can listen to the engine and "feel" the ride of the truck. If you like it, tell the salesman you will buy it NO MONEY DOWN. Do not negotiate from that point. You have the upper hand because the salesman has a quota he has to make. Ask what deals or incentives the dealership has to buy the truck. This time of year you should get some because end of year deals are at the dealership. After he gives you the deal price, then say to the salesman, now go to your manager and say your customer wants $1000 (or whatever you want) more off. You may get all of it or you may only get 500 more off. REMEMBER: They want to sell this year's models because 1) next year's models are coming and 2) they get taxed big time if the old models are sitting on the lot come January. Buy a new car. Believe it or not you will get a better deal on a new car vs a used car at this time of year. Once you have agreed on the price you will then be handed over to the Finance person, or you pay up the whole price of the truck. Either way, don't let them tack on more fees without them explaining everything. REMEMBER: you have the right to say "no" to the added fees. Suggest you buy a Toyota. Good luck. We buy our cars from the dealership online and go there to sign the papers and pick it up. Easy Peasy.

Hi nik. Im so sorry for your hubby, i hope hes ok.. i just had to get a new car. I was lucky with the cost but the sales man was trying to get meto do finance with them, arrrrrhhh nooooo, being single must be like we can get this lady, yeahhh nahh buddy. grr i hate buying vehicles, I cant handle the mind games either! & BTW, not sure about the US but in canada recall work is covered by the manufacturer (ie Ford, Chevy etc) so....the dealership is full of crap if they say it cost them to do the recall work...it shouldnt have cost them anything. Recall work is the manufacturer's problem & they should cover it....so glad you left.
I have to play the game and play well because my husband won’t buy used cars. Now that we are both retired he will no longer have that luxury. And I know under the circumstances, you can’t see any humor in car negotiation, but if you’re ever watched Modern Family on TV, there’s a cute episode where the dad is buying teenage daughter a car, and his father in law thinks he needs a pro to help with the negotiation. Of course the FIL considers himself to be a pro. It’s funny, but maybe not so soon after an accident. I understand your trauma. My Daughter had an accident one mile from my house at Xmas and broke back, pelvis, nose and SIL broke 17 ribs. It took a while, a WHILE, for her sense of humor to return and longer for normalcy.
Sorry about troubles. Glad it wasn’t worse than it was. In other news- granted I’m looking at a 1/2” box, but has anyone ever told you that you look like Tina Fey? You’re funny like her too. 😉
I hate salesmen at dealerships. They act like we are so stupid. I tell them straight up i'm not playing games. They either deal up front or I walk. And I do walk.

Just remember the importance that your husband was lucky and was not seriously hurt in the accident. A car can be replaced. I lost my husband and unborn child in a car accident caused by a drunk driver and on the phone. I was the only survivor. Be great grateful it turned out for you. Some people are not that lucky. I just wished I had the inconvenience of the car like you . But not the case.

My family is also dealing with the ongoing effects of someone else’s careless driving, resulting in my son’s traumatic brain injury and long recovery. Some days are beyond hard, but we know we have so much to be grateful for.
I’m adding you to my prayer list because I (and many others) know firsthand that even when you look ok on the outside, it’s not necessarily so on the inside. That pain is ALWAYS there.

I love buying cars, I go with all of my friends to help them out, and my goal is to leave there with the car in an hour. Here are some tips. Pay cash. Get a personal loan, don’t go through the dealer who LOVES to drag such things out FOREVER. Know what you’re going to spend, tell them what you’re going to spend, do your research so you know how much your car is worth, lay it out for the sales person and give them 10 minutes to give you an answer. If they don’t, walk away. I have never had to walk away from a car dealer, they always come running back to me. Your car dealer sounded as if he was involved in “bait and switch.” Mention it the next time, and tell them that that’s fraud and that you’ll report them. Ask the salesman for his name, ask for the manager’s name, ask for the dealership number. That gets them excited.

Very good advice! My hubby is GREAT at the dealership! He doesn't mess around. We are the customer, they need to work with us! There are ALOT more places we can shop for a vehicle! And tell them that. They more than likely won't let you leave without giving you what you want or at least "very" close!!! 🙂

Nik, if there was a recall on the vehicle, wouldn't the manufacturer assume the cost of the repairs/replacement? I thought that's how recalls worked. That whole thing sounds pretty shady to me.
I didn't even think of that , so true. My family has got recalls on vehicles we haven't had for years that are free repairs. Definitely correct!
You could use a bunch of these files on the outside of each signature of a book so it is sectioned off and looks like a filing cabinet! Love it!!!

You're fortunate to have the face shape that looks fab with hair up or down (I could hate you for that alone...LOL), next, you didn't mention, but it seems like your hubs is ok (hopefully), next, I'd love to know what your chapstick is because it's a pretty color and I live in dry, dry Colorado, too, next, I LOVE THAT FOLDER!, next, buying a car - that's why I owned 3 Saturns back in the day because they DID NOT haggle - you walk in, pick the car you want, pay for it and drive it home and the cars were awesome quality-wise (probably why they dropped the brand in the 2008 crash), next, last - but certainly not least - CONGRATULATIONS on 50k!!!
