@@jazzvilakazi3089 : John Redcorn is a recurring character from the animated TV series King of the Hill, which aired from 1997-2010 on FOX in the USA, at the time trailing The Simpsons as the second longest-running animated sitcom of all time. Redcorn was a Native American healer/masseuse who would "treat" Nancy Gribble (inspiring "Niecy" in the music video above), the wife of main character Dale Gribble, who was an extremely eccentric and paranoid man who suspected everything *except* his wife's affair. Nancy and Redcorn also fathered a son, Joseph, whose likeness bears a striking resemblance to Redcorn, and everybody seemed to know that Joseph wasn't really Dale's son with the only oblivious characters being Dale and Joseph. That episode when Peggy was going to tell Dale that Joseph wasn’t his son. At the end when Dale took out the last of his money out of his wallet to give to Joseph... man that hit me as a teen and even more now as a father...
@@angelhernandub1029 eh he never really got a chance but I understand were you coming from. John lost his land and in alot of ways his morality along with it, we are creatures of circumstance if he had a better life he would of been a better person. Lastly he loved Nancy it was her idea to keep it an affair this song and video really highlight this it is very obvious he wanted more in the later seasons.
Love who loves you. Want who wants you. Concern yourself with who concerns themselves with you. I understand that this is hard and I've been there, but I can tell you that once you get over it you'll look back and say wtf was I doing and laugh. God Bless you. I pray you strength and peace.

@0ddMonk3y Yeah a lot of white people watched it. It was underrated in the black community. I put a lot of people on to watching it. So I'll use the word I chose fit and don't need your permission to say wtf I want Chief!
I was a John redcorn before...shit is not fun when you’re love sick over someone who was never really yours to begin with. Guess I deserved the pain I went thru.
"This feels like a game of survival, why am I dying for a title? Is it even worth the fight?" Idk how many times I've skipped back to that part and sang it with all my soul.Even though I can't sing when I'm in my car alone, with my tears rolling & belting it out with every fiber of my being it makes me feel like somehow I'm heard. This song is so underrated. I've shown this song to every friend and family member I have because it hits different. Even if you don't have an exact "John Redcorn" situation, I feel a lot of us have encountered an unrequited love situation and it's relatable on so many levels. Loving someone and knowing you can't have them like you want, or it's bad timing, or maybe it's just toxic... it's one of the worst feelings ever. I've gone through this and felt like my life would be incomplete without him in it because that's how deep the connection was...but with time it has gotten easier. I do torture myself from time to time listening to this because it brings back savored memories with said person...Sometimes I wonder if he thinks about me like I think about him. Love--we all want it even if we know if isn't good for us, we hope that somehow it might work itself out in our favor...but this type of love never will. You're doomed from the beginning.
He had an affair with Dale's wife for 14 years. Redcorn really loved her and wanted her to leave Dale for him but she finally decided she loved Dale and the affair ended. He just met her at the wrong time and place and he can never let her go. I believe Sir's video and lyrics really bring that heartbreak to life.
@@nopenoperino8295 he did care about his son, it was Nacy, he consistently told her about how he did not like the things Dale was teaching him, etc... he did behind the scene things for Joseph.
Everything about this is perfection! As a King of the Hill fan and a fan of good music, this just hits different! I just rewatched the episode where John was frustrated about how his son, Joseph, was being raised, and just had to come listen. I loved the song before I saw the video and when I finally did, I was just 🥰😭🥰😍
Two lines : “Guess I should’ve stayed where I belong/cause once you make it back to your happy home/I’m alone” “Why am I alone when I know you want me too” Smh… damn.
In King of The Hill, the character who Soul's character is based on is Dale. Dales wife regularly cheats on him with John Redcorn, who Dale believes is just giving her massages because she has back problems.
Still can’t believe Sir hasn’t been nominated for a Grammy. This album was a classic and one of the best R&B albums released in the last decade. Every song on the album is deep and relatable. His song writing skills are criminally underrated.
That isn't an honor and that comes with a price some of these artists aren't willing to pay. People need to pay attention the truth is right in front of us
I feel like the first squirrel (which symbolizes Neicy) that he ran over was symbolic of him being in control of his feelings for her....... that’s why he nonchalantly drove over it...... as the video continued it displayed scenes of them spending quality time together causing him to catch feelings for her........ these feelings led to him dodging the symbolic second squirrel (which transformed into a mirage of Neicy) and crash into the tree injuring himself.......the next scene showed him applying ice to his head while laying in bed lonely symbolizing the hurt we all experience when we catch feelings and make the effort to love someone that is outside of loves reach.... just my take on it.
A relationship like this will always make you feel alone. Someone who is in a relationship and messes with you will always leave you alone and hurt. You can't change them and you will never win. Even if you take them away from their previous relationship, you can never trust them and they will do to you what they did to their significant other. "Enough will never be enough"
1:10 I think he says “Am I wrong? Tell me that I’m wrong. Tell me I deserve all the pain that you put me through.” Because believing you’re the one at fault makes you feel as if you have more control over the health of your relationship, when in reality it’s a joint effort. In similar words, sometimes it’s easier to believe you’re the problem rather than both of you together. Especially if you know that one of you doesn’t want to change or that you’re just not right for each other. (This is my interpretation of these lyrics, everyone has their own)
I know this too well. Got married, she cheated, and in efforts to try again i try to give her better and by doing so i fell in debt. Now shes gone for good after cheating again, and after everthing i still feel im at fault. Thousands in debt, lost my place, no car, sleeping in my moms couch and i still feel like it was me to blame. Bur as long as shes happy, i can taje care of my own. I just thought i finally had that happily ever after you know? Now i just want to be myself by myself and my dogs. If a female likes me thats cool but im damaged and hurting and idk when thatll stop if at all.

@@13lilsykos you never know with Dale, but I really don't think so... he's mad slow. Remember at one point he genuinely thought Nancy had been impregnated by aliens .... don't know if u remember that episode... but nahh I don't think Dale knows
John Redcorn is a classic tragic figure - He loves someone who is committed to another, and despite everything that tells him he's not wrong (including lying to their child to protect that commitment), Him and Nancy just CAN NOT be... and its ruinous for everyone. Shakespearean shit right there.
@cali budz Dale doesn't know, his love for his wife blinds him to her obvious cheating. Redcorn knows she's married, but gets jealous because she had sex with her husband (not on his Dale's birthday) Basically Nancy is straight up fucking awful and she gets away with it because she's pretty and her men love her not matter what she does. cali budz cali budz yea that’s true.. it’s just sad because people don’t realize that what they could lose doesn’t compare to what can be gained !! I think the worst part is that dale so damn stupid that even when it was indicated that Joseph knew John Redcorn is his father by the end of the show Dale still didn't put two and two together....then that lead to this perpetual lie everyone especially Joseph having to keep that secret too keep Dale from getting his Fragile feeling hurt because of how selfish Nancy was .....

Idk how many times I've skipped back to that part and sang it with all my soul.Even though I can't sing when I'm in my car alone, with my tears rolling & belting it out with every fiber of my being it makes me feel like somehow I'm heard.
Discernment. The most valuable lesson in this thing called live

He had an affair with Dale's wife for 14 years. Redcorn really loved her and wanted her to leave Dale for him but she finally decided she loved Dale and the affair ended.

She's Sharon Stone in Casino.
@@AverageDrafter And then had the nerve to get mad when Dale became friends with that female exterminator.
