I wish you well in your efforts to get your house under control, I am sure it is hard with small children, but you have to just keep at it, and little by little you will get there! Decluttering is key to keeping things organized. Everything needs a home, and everything put back in its place. As some people say, and I try to practice myself, "Don't put it down, put it away." That way you don't have to make a decision about it a second time and you don't have to see a pile that needs dealt with again. Do a five or ten minute pick up at the end of the day, and have everyone put their things away, many hands make light work. A none negotiable for me is to make sure there are not dirty dishes in the sink. I made sure they are done before I go to bed, your future self will thank you when you get up to a clean kitchen! As much as possible clean them as you are using them and after each meal, then it is not as overwhelming. I used to let mine pile up too, but in the last couple of years I make sure they are done before i go to bed, no matter what! I don't know who you watch on UA-cam, but my favorites are the Minimal Mom, Clutterbug, and Dana K. White. I have learned so much from them and am slowing getting my house decluttered and under control.
Thank you for sharing this moment and this journey with us, you are doing an amazing job, decluttering makes our lives easier and simple, It helps me te keep my mental health "Good" especially after having a baby.. Just keep going, as much as your house is minimal, your routine and your cleaning become stable and everyone gonna be happy Watching from Morocco ❤🇲🇦
I like to start with getting the dishes sorted first. It makes the biggest impact and who doesn't like a quick/easy win 😊. You're doing a great job 👍 I've always been taught to store potatoes in the dark, it stops them from going green.
I actually like cleaning before I declutter. I've found that if I try to declutter before cleaning, inevitably while I'm cleaning I then find items that I forgot about and probably should have decluttered more. LoL You'll get there. I'm watching videos like yours to remind me to stay on it. Decluttering never seems to end. But if we stay on it and maintain, it's so much easier.
I totally agree with you about hanging out with other moms that aren't like you. There are so many different types of moms, the helicopter, the social mom that ignores her kids, the fun mom that plays with her kids, the healthy mom that criticizes your snack choices and the free- range mom that literally lets her kids do anything they want too. It's hard to find where you fit in.
A good way to keep a few drawings or school art that your kids did, is to get them each a small box with a lid or tote, file box or whatever you have space for. Put it at the top of their closet or garage and only put into them the things that they might want to look at in the future. Write the kids name and time capsule on it, then they open it on their 18th birthday and get a laugh out of the memories that they had forgotten about. Adding pictures of special moments is fun too, like Halloween costumes, first missing tooth pictures or pictures of them in an outfit that they just had to have. It's fun to have special or funny memories to look back on when you get older.
Potatoes and onions keep longer in fridge. Separate them though because they rot faster when they are near each other. You are doing so good! Take care! It's a lot with all a mom has to do. Every little victory adds up to big things!
Potato people: my potatoes go bad within a week no matter what I do. Fridge, cabinet, total darkness, doesnt matter. I dont buy potatoes unless I plan to use them within a couple days because they never hold. What can I do?!
So, you can use that feature, but I’ve never been able to hear them pinging and if they run out of battery then that won’t work. I know I’ve lost at least one in a parking lot and one when I got gas because they fell out of the car when I got out, but I didn’t realize it until I’d gotten home. I could see my “last seen” locations but by the time I went back it was too late 😩
Cassfrom Clutterbug just did a podcast on filing for people with ADHD. That might be helpful. I have a pretty detailed filing system, so that might not work as well for you. (Cas' words, actually, not mine)
The Minimal Mom has good stuff too, borrowed from Cas and the lady who does Organize 365, i think Lisa Woodruff is her name. ua-cam.com/video/6YbRbKecDKo/v-deo.htmlsi=7Hm9kTDpRa4-trBC
And i think Cas' recent organizing filing categories are Action, Reference, Short Term filing, Long Term filing. I thought there was one other. I think there's a Time will Tell category, for stuff that's interesting, but doesn't need to be acted on. Hope this is helpful!
Great job on your progress, if you get a chance you should check out the minimal mom channel (you definitely don't have to be a minimalist to benefit from her channel.) she's amazing and following her channel has changed my life, no exaggeration😊. Clearing my kitchen counters and keeping them clear was one of the best things I ever did!! ❤ You got this.
Hi friend! If it’s irritating you don’t need to watch. Every channel isn’t for everyone and UA-cam has millions of channels. Hope you find something else you can enjoy!

Watching your video while doing some laundry and tidying up my home today. I’m off from work so I’m trying to do as much as I can. Great video!😊😊
Awesome! I love that ❤️

Thank you so much for your very kind words!❤️❤️❤️

I've always been taught to store potatoes in the dark, it stops them from going green.
Thank you for the tip! I’m afraid if I put the potatoes somewhere out of sight I’ll forget about them 🫣 but I might try it!
If your pantry has a door you could put them on the floor in there. Anywhere out of direct light would help 😊

Exactly! A little bit at a time and consistency ❤️
You’re doing great babe!
Thanks!

You nailed it! Exactly.
I got so excited I thought it was the right airpod!!!,
RIP right AirPod, forever in our hearts.

Are you still looking for a use for that cute spice rack? Could you use that to hold the mail until you are able to purchase the solution you want?

Yes, potato people, any secrets we’re missing??? 🥔
Wooooow Megan 😂😂😂 not you exposing me on UA-cam with a Temu package 😂😂😂
😬
Can you not use find my feature on your iPhone to locate the airpods? I don’t think they need a charge but idk never tried
So, you can use that feature, but I’ve never been able to hear them pinging and if they run out of battery then that won’t work.

Yeah, I definitely can’t abide by detailed systems. I get lost pretty quickly! But I’ll check out the clutterbug podcast…if I don’t get distracted!

Hi! Yes, I LOVE Minimal Mom. I’m working on my general decluttering first and then I’ll try to implement more techniques when I get my bearings!

Can you say the odd sentence without using the word “ like “ ?
She's new to this. Give her time to find her flow and work the kinks out.
