Hey Guys! Hope you're having a lovely weekend. For this video, I share the steps to create the patterns for a side slant pocket which sits on the front hip. Hope you get to try it for yourself & add functionality to your creations. ^.^
I really enjoyed that you showed how to make the pattern and then how to actually sew it together in a full length pair of trousers. Lots of other tutorials just show how to make the front pocket using a shortened version of a pair of pants and then not showing how it looks when the back leg is added. Your tutorial is really complete and appreciate the detail you have provided in a very clear and concise way. Merci beaucoup!
Hi, I just really want to thank you. I am now wearing my pants that I made myself. Thanks to all the videos you made. They are all very easy to follow.
I have been watching a lot of videos to re-introduce myself to sewing. Its been quite a few years since I made my clothes and I am starting to again. It is hard for me to buy a pattern to fit as I am short, a little bigger than I use to be and store bought patterns just don't fit. I love the way you teach us about making our own patterns, sewing and make it so easy to follow. Please keep the videos coming and sharing you expertise with us. Thank you. I am from Missouri located in the middle of the United States of America.
The timing is so good as I am currently working on a pleated wide pants. I was about to leave the pockets out as I have no idea how to make one. I am watching this now to have my pants to have pockets. Thank you so much!!!
Wonderful tutorial. Thank you. Your so sweet and very thorough with your explanation. I can’t wait to see the fly front. They are going to be really nice trousers.
Thank you for your video. I had a pair a trousers that I wore all the time. Since they were loved so much I took them apart at the seams and made a pattern from them before tossing them. But when I started to sew a new pair I had forgotten how to sew the pockets. My trousers are just for everyday but they turned out so good I may wear them when I go out too.
Hi Priscillya. Love your awesome teaching. I've been need this tutorial and thank you for make the pants pattern as well. I could not comment on that video because the comments sections does not show. Please keep posting. I learn a lot from you.
Loved the video. Would like to see it again with different colored material and thread that would illustrate the how to of the process. Thought the how to, disappeared in the same color, but the finished product was awesome.
thank you so much for this! I couldnt visualize written instructions for this, so having a video was helpful! you give the best instructions for everything
@@KimDave On my previous trouser project I’ve skipped adding front pockets (mostly out of intimidation and laziness), but now I’m making a pair for my brother’s birthday, and I want it to have all the pockets, so I can’t procrastinate any longer…
Very well explained. Better explained than in many purchased patterns. Suggestion: it would help beginners if you edited in at the beginning a glimpse of how the pocket looked at the end. Then go back and pick up the how-to. Going to go look at your other work now!
Dear Ms. Dave, thank you for the video. I am working on this very pattern and I have made three mock-ups. The last "practice" fabric, the pocket had some laxity and I was not happy with it. Thanks again.
Wow! Well done 👍🏽 thanks for making time to teach us different aspect of pattern drafting and sewing. I discovered your Chanel yesterday and I’ve been binge watching all your videos I currently use bought patterns now I can start drafting my own pattern for my project
Very good tutorial, I started to put pockets on slacks last year, didn't have a pattern, I couldn't figure why I could not put that set in pocket. I see I had misplaced the back pocket. Thank you for this tutorial helping me get back to sewing after years away.
Very helpful. I want to start making more pants and master them trousers, although I'm sure it will take more than one trial and error to learn from. I ultimately want to make breeches, which that will be a 'super fantastique' assignment, since I have to hand sew everything currently. 😱😌🦁
Excellent! I had an old pair of favorite pants that I cut apart at the seams and made a pattern by laying each piece on paper. It had a pocket but I didn't understand how to sew it into the pants fabric. And how I know how Thank you ...Wish me luck.
Excelente su tutorial, que siendo en ingles se hace entender con su paso a paso, gracias por compartir su tiempo y su saber. Desde Colombia un gran saludo fraterno!!!.
This is so detailed and so helpful! Thank you! I've been working on elastic waistband culotte style pants with a side seam pocket, but I'd rather try the hip pocket like you're showing. I'm wondering-if my waistband is elastic, do you recommend measuring differently when making the pocket? I'm wondering if I use your measurements, if it would change anything when adding elastic. Thank you!
Brilliant Tute Kim. Thanks a bunch. I am trying to make a pr of mens pants but pockets are pockets right?. I find pockets are never deep enough so I will deepen them. Thanks again
hank you for this wonderful tutorial. it was very clear and easy to understand, and the clips weren't confusing. The only mildly confusing part was when you said you flipped the pocket facing over on the inside and sewed it again on the SA, but didn't show how you did it. (Sorry, pleb issue, complete beginner so). But still, such an amazing tutorial :D
Thanks for this useful tutorial. I can see I'm going to save loads on buying patterns by following you! BTW while you were talking about trouser pockets I couldn't take my eyes off your bomber jacket... You made it, right? Great choice of fabrics, it's really lovely.

This is truly a great video lesson. Question: Do you have a lesson for side pocket that is in line with seam. that is, no slant. Thank You
What a smart designer kim dave
You did great with this!
This is so detailed and so helpful! Thank you! I've been working on elastic waistband culotte style pants with a side seam pocket, but I'd rather try the hip pocket like you're showing.
