As a former competitive cyclist back in the 80s it really does my heart well to see Paula working on bike handling skills! I think too many triathletes ignore this aspect of the game. Great stuff guys!!
Some small tips on fpv drone flying that I recall from when drone racing and freestyle flying was my main hobby a bunch of years ago. 1) bank left to right, back and forth, just a little bit when you're flying straight, it gives a really smooth flow to things and irons out a lot of the small jerky stuff that always comes with it when you're getting used to flying. 2) when turning, or doing a 'move', just commit to a certain joystick input and keep it locked for a few seconds - a good video shot is most often just a certain locked position of the joysticks and letting the drone do its thing, and in time you'll learn to give 'correct' inputs that'll actually end up doing what you want to. 3) big, slow moves often look the most epic - like you're suspended in time, floating in zero gravity 4) bonus tip - turn off any joystick acceleration if you have it enabled and learn to fly with linear high sensitivity input instead, it'll make you way more consistent in performing accurate snap moves in the long run. I never got as good as I wanted, but if you want some examples of what I've just written you can have a look at buckyfpv here on yt.
Epic intro this week! All of that drone footage was super fun, and DIFERRENT than typical staccato drone footage people usually shoot, thank you!! The only note (for when you have a bigger crew) is to paint out the drone shadow on the lower shots. Regardless, another awesome and inspiring video!
yeah, I thought about going through that, and normally I'd just shoot so it wasn't in frame, but I figured in this episode, the drone was essentially a character, so I kept it in :)
I mainly watch these videos for triathlon tips and interest in a tri pro life! But you've also got to admire the camera and editing work that goes in to them great stuff👍
I've now listened to 2 Podcasts = Great Content, Candid & Valuable Comments, Insights galore + Nick does an Outstanding job as a Host / Curator. Just sayin'🙂
I was really hoping the sun was going to end up filling the sun from the logo during the intro. Like the old DVD logo bouncing into a corner, I was getting excited. Next time Eric, next time. Great vlog, kinda felt like part of an 80's movie montage. Michael J. Fox Fox Fox Fox in my head.
Stellar intro shots and I love how the music fit so well throughout. Also really liked those cool drone shots! Training for a triathlon just looks so beautiful when you see it through your videos. Great work :)
Awesome video (again) Eric!! Gotta say...when that first shot of you on the scooter came on, for a second I was like "damn! What's he got under the hood on that thing"...then I realized it was the music 🤣🤣 Best of luck in Santa Cruz! Timberman 70.3 coming up for me.
Paula rarely seems like she's into filming (I don't mean that in a negative way at all; maybe she'sjust a super chill person?). Is that just her being focused on her training instead? Eric, though, seems fully vested and excited to grow and improve his content creation. It's cool to see thr cross over of athlete/filmmaker.
Hi, amazing as usual. But another level this week. Can you tell me what is your drone ? I'm french and if you tell it in your video I don't ear it. Thanks 🙏
Late to the video this week, but never miss one. I was at a lecture by the great Dr. Jordan Peterson who is in the UK, on a lecture tour, but he comes from Paula's neck of the woods, in Edmonton Canada. So missed the release yesterday. The drone footage is brilliant and loving the moped set up looks super cool. and the music edit is always absolutely on point! I Won't be late next week, lol. Stay safe both see you next week, much love from the UK.
Defently Eric is the heart and soul and the best support that the other half pro triathle can wish for.......Eric, amazing work and amazing emotional support. I wondering if Paula realized and appreciated?.............
Will there be an Episode by Paula sharing her Collins Cup Match Winning experience? It was mentioned in the broadcast that her Bike was damaged on the way to Europe, is that true? Yes Eric, You are officially competing with Hollywood cinematographers on the ground, on the road & in the air🙂. Some great shots
@@ThatTriathlonLife Thanks for the Heads Up....It slipped my mind🙃, I'm listening to it right now. As a Road rider, I geek out on any Bike stuff (from punctures to cracked frame & Tri Athletes have amazing rigs. Happy that Specialized came through with a replacement FrameSet for Paula to make the race. I always cringed when seeing Tri-Athletes put their beautiful bike into a Soft Case ie; Scicon....and the cracked frame does not surprise me. I'm in the market for a case & this example confirmed my Hard side leaning. Enjoying the Podcast just like the YT work. Cheering for You both always. Stay Safe & Healthy................You are both on a roll this year, Keep it going.
Let's see, I guess it was texting, right? Yeah texting and driving is bad, so totally, operating a drone while driving a Vespa, and filming, totally cool. 🤣 The dynamic shots were stellar actually- no one uses a drone for , well not since Flight of the Navigator. And come on, we all know Flynn has secretly become a full triathlete- that he also figured out the bike, and you are hiding it from us- he runs, he swims.... (and wears cool Rapha Raphas hanging over the handle bars and kicking his furry legs in those pedals).
I agree,,,your one man film team, is one of the best!!! Music, video, and content are super good!!!, here in santa Cruz, two open water swims, no wet suit, I recommend no wet suit for warm up, helps you get used to the cold, and is tougher, so your swim with the wet suit, extra warm:) and even more important, extra fast,,,bikeing the run course daily, on my Mountain bike, maybe i will see you on the course, seen a few other already, they are like running, my plan is to build up the run, every other day, tomorrow I will run 8 miles of it, thru wilder and back to west cliff, say 8:33am if you dare, lol and for the race I will run the full 13,,,I will watch the swim, and bike,,,then am going to start on mile 1,,,figure after I see you ride by on the way back, then I have what ever time it takes you to get back, then get running, maybe I will be no more then 10 minutes infront, I am thinking of it, like running with the bulls, really though, its running with the pros, and once you catch me, I will let you pass, and cheer for you, should only be a few of you out front, last year,,,only 2,,,but they were really good runners, looking forward to watching you race, you coming to this race, has made it even better then last year's race, so thanks, and good favor to you on this race!!! As I am here, and once you have favor, you like laugh at luck, parked off west clif, sunset, like the road sign says, best sun sets here:)

We agree 🤟
Eric's enthusiasm for what he does is infectious! Great stuff and keep it up!

Incredible filming Eric! I especially loved that opening sequence. So impressed you can fly the drone while cycling and on the scooter!

The Drone flying through the logo was 👌. Awesome editing Eric!!!!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds laying on the floor relaxing!
somehow... it's the absolute best
Nice footage Eric! Love the scooter setup
Paula, please let Eric by as many drones as he needs/wants (yes, they all do different things 😂)
I mainly watch these videos for triathlon tips and interest in a tri pro life! But you've also got to admire the camera and editing work that goes in to them great stuff👍
Sick... sick... sick video Eric... WOW!!! Much better by far from anything out there. Super impressed!!! Good luck at Santa Cruz, I'll see you there!
Crushing it!!! Also damn those rich neighbourhood roads :o
Eric’s new off-season career will be a pro drone racer.
Loved the intro shots and can’t wait for the Castilli kit!
Beautiful scenery!
Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Dream team 🤩

From my point of view still your best drone sequences - also again with that music composition.
I 👀 the TTL Summer Playlist on TV playing Night Moves. 🤙🏽
Great video. In the pod you have talked about recycling swim caps. I cut mine up and use them as swim bands for my ankles!
all new level for that one !
Stellar intro shots and I love how the music fit so well throughout. Also really liked those cool drone shots! Training for a triathlon just looks so beautiful when you see it through your videos. Great work :)
Love the music combination…..
Your filming skills are going higher and higher... Nice video.
Eric those shots with the drone are awesome as you catch up and peel off! Keep playing!
The drone shots are dope
Incredible footage! Thanks Eric!
My pleasure!
Regards from Kenya, East Africa.
Love a video that is Eric’s argument for MORE DRONES!!! Gotta cave Paula! You guys rock. Also, Specialized-who reps you better?!?! No one…
Freaking great, awesome video!

@paula, this is why Eric and Nick need drones. Eric keep up the flying!
haha I dunno... she said "see you don't need a new one!"
I agree
Awesome video 👍

Man, having to wait a week for more of this kills me.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching every week :) I'll try to get back on the Sunday plan as soon as all this racing calms down
good luck Eric and great video as always
handling skills can make and break youfor some courses for sure
Great video!
Eric how do you film with the drone while you sit on the scooter? Active tracking?
Side note, that sub division looks like it would be amazing for Roller Skiing!!
loooots of roller skiiers rolling around getting ready for snow haha
Rad setup... Seems just like yesterday when Paula's parents gave you guys a new GoPro for Christmas.
that was groundbreaking at the time. I still would really really rather not pay for a new gopro haha
Defently Eric is the heart and soul and the best support that the other half pro triathle can wish for.......Eric, amazing work and amazing emotional support. I wondering if Paula realized and appreciated?.............
I think the same, Eric seems to be such a special person, I hope he's recognized by his partner. Keep up with these amazing videos 👏⭐
If you listen to TTL podcasts, it’s obvious Paula appreciates all Eric does.
