- A Single Man is a 2009 American drama film based on the Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name. It was directed by famous fashion designer Tom Ford, who had to finance it himself, as it was his directorial debut. The film stars Colin Firth as the protagonist George Falconer, a gay British university professor living in Southern California in 1962.

Oscars are a bit reluctant towards LGBTQ movies sometimes....... This movie was much worth in best Picture, best actor(thankfully got), best original score and direction....... Also the adapted screenplay........ It's a shame that it didn't though
This film is so complex yet simply expressed. If not an Oscar winner: it most definitely will be remembered by those whom appreciate such aesthetic elegance.
just finished watching the movie; the soundtrack immediately struck me as so beautiful ... so subtle and beautiful...
almost every detail in the movie I find it carefully chosen. The car, the clothes, the furniture, the locations, the actors... Nocturnal Animals an awesome film too, with great music.

I watched A Single Man only knowing that this guy is in it, not the theme whatsoever.
The film punched me right in the heart and hit real close to home. Watching this movie really made me respect him as an actor more, goddamn did I cry throughout the entire film

A few times in my life I've had moments of absolute clarity, when for a few brief seconds the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp. And the world seems so fresh as though it had all just come into existence. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade. I have lived my life on these moments. They pull me back to the present, and I realise that everything is exactly the way it was meant to be.

Best lines in the film. Makes you feel something. Resonates at so many levels. I read it in George's voice everytime and it's the best thing

Music for the soul. Abel Korzeniowski is, without doubt, one of the greatest modern day composers. The film and score left me speechless, they are a work of exceptional beauty.

Just finished watching this movie and was awestruck. An absolutely gorgeous and moving movie with a soundtrack that touches your soul. Simply beautiful until the end.
It's a shame Hollywood is just too self loathing to have given this movie its due since it is certainly Oscar material.

After reading the source material, I have to say that Tom Ford really sculpted a brilliant, much fuller, and engaging story from it. He is a marvel.The performances, (God, Julianne Moore can do anything!l), every shot / scene, the art direction, the editing - Everything is flawless! The soundtrack compliments the film perfectly and also stands up so well on its own. Thank you for sharing this.

Ever notice how the people who give the "thumbs down" never bother to comment or give reason. Perhaps this is because it is only in their nature to dislike everything they see or hear without regard to worth or merit. It is evident here. While classical music may not be your cup of tea, there is no possible way to find fault with this piece of music.
