I'm willing to bet by the time you see the whole series your opinion changes. You've already established the major point of what it was like for these guys but have yet to understand no worries you will. It goes like this Pure hell up there and peace on the ground. By the time you see the end you will be worn out and understand.
I was very interested in this show and hearing it compared to band of brothers or the pacific which was my favorite got me excited. I will give it a watch anyway and see
I could not agree more: 1.) The lack of character building either through training or daily life on the base at the beginning was a detriment in regard to how we feel about the characters once they get into combat and even when they return to base. 2.) The first combat scene felt rushed and janky. The entire sequence only lasted a few minutes and I never felt I got a chance to settle in and feel the horrors of the men and their experience. Memphis Belle did a great job of taking its time and creating build up in the combat scenes. That was not the case here. Also, combine that with the fact that they focused on several men from several different planes who we did not know or care about and you have a recipe for apathy and loss of interest. I liked your review and cannot understand why people are raving about this series.
I agree with some of your points. The fight with the RAF lads was dumb. It’s almost too big of a story for a mini series. I don’t think band of brothers or pacific is a fare comparison based solely on the source literature. Read Masters of the Air and you’ll see it’s a history of the 8th Air Force as a whole and doesn’t follow a small group through the war. Attrition was too high. Easy company had 49 men killed in action during all of the war. Approximately 26,000 8th Air Force Airmen were killed in action. The 100th Bomb Group alone lost 177 aircraft during the war. I was actually impressed how many true stories they fit into the first two episodes. I now realize my appreciation for the history has made me lose objectivity with the series. I appreciate that this history is being told to a wider audience. Could it be better? Absolutely. Could the stories of the lead characters be developed more? Absolutely. I don’t know which true events they are going to cover in the remaining episodes, but there are too many to fit into the handful of remaining episodes. I suspect it might feel rushed. I hope they cover the Münster mission. They have to.
This show is incredibly historically accurate. The reason that there is not a hell of a lot time spent on character development is because most of the original characters will be dead before the midpoint of the series, as will be the bulk of the replacement characters. That is the whole bloody point!
Been looking at the reviews across sites 10/10, 9/10s. I thought I was going crazy, review bots must be out in full force. It was boring 5/10 at best haha! Huge opportunity that has been squandered so far.
@@jakegoode4176 yes. I do think it was phenomenal. Although I won’t lie, I do have prior knowledge about the bombing campaign so knowing the brutality of the air war has definitely elevated my viewing experience
Watched the entire series, and became progressively more disapointed with it. It appeasr lazy and contrifed in parts and the historical inacurasies grate. They had a wonderful story to tell and really did not. Seems they were just reting on the laurels of the previous two series. I understand that the attrition rate was horrendous, but id they had built part one around training and introducing characters I may have been gripped more. Also maybe because I served as Infantry, I found more synergy with BOB, but it's not that I think.
Agreed. Very disappointed so far. The acting is uninspiring and the CGI is not very good. I would put it in a class with Fly Boys and Red Tails (which, in order to satisfy the new DEI requirements, will be shoe-horned into the story in future episodes). 4/10.
How anyone is comparing this to BOB, which is maybe the best series ever made in my opinion over anything, is just ignorant with all due respect. Get some perspective dude, the CGI looks amazing, the show is based off the book, which is designed to show what these men went through up in the air and experiences they endured. It does just that. I saw the screening and the entire series and it's terrific. It is not band of brothers and an entirely different story. This review here seems to be click bait people, move a long.
The review, while brutal, is spot on. Go and read the books, and also listen to James Holland, then come back to this production. It's lazy and contrived.
I loved it so far, looking forward to seeing the rest of the series
20 minutes was enough for me. I'm not into video games.

Band of Brothers is exceptional and it’s almost unfair to make comparisons. Nice review!
I find it enthralling, I love it.

THANK YOU!! I swear, correcting the BS from these reviews has been giving me a major headache

I would give it 1/10 since it is unwatchable.
You are crazy, this show is phenomenal
Episode 3 has been better but come on ‘phenomenal’ 😂

Fair enough, episode 3 showed that brutality, but prior to that it was hollow character building, cliche quips and a dig at the RAF.

The CGI looks like a video game, not actual planes like you have in good movies.
@@castlerock58are you blind?! The CGI has been PHENOMENAL! I swear, you people won’t be happy unless it’s real B 17’s getting shot out of the sky
