For all of you feeling the holiday blues, I give you my beloved friend, Matthew Ryan. Stellar dad of boys. Husband to Melissa. Lover of Wawa meatball subs in the middle of the night. Champion of women--especially of those of us who have been raped/abused/hurt. I really adore this friend. His voice, his words...they heal, help and honor women. Merry Christmas, Matthew Ryan. You're a man for the ages!
During the grieving period of the biggest loss of my lifetime, this song became a constant friend. The line about "broken hearts and brand new days for you to start all over again" was as meaningful as anything anyone could say. Each day the hurt was still there (and remains), but everyday is another chance. His songs can sound so sad at times, but there is almost always a hint at optimism in there somewhere.
As a songwriter, it almost depresses me to know that I will never write a song this moving. On the other hand, it inspires me to hone my craft, to get better, to make each song its own work of art such as this.
How i wonder how grateful dead and wilco and jimmy buffet fans get through their days without knowing who they really are in regards to music. then i hear matthew ryan and I realize how blessed my life is to know amazing artist and being a snob about it doesnt matter so much anymore. October project the innocence mission, talk talk from 1986 on up, I am kloot,
I will never understand how the world goes on without more people hearing MR’s masterpieces. He’s up there with the highest of the high. I’ve been grateful for the past 20+ plus years of feeling what his music brings out. ❤
Bones brought me here, and now I've got another new artist in my faves queue. Absolutely beautiful, haunting, and moving. Thank you most kindly, Mr. Ryan!
Through all these years it’s still breathtaking.

Beautiful acknowledgment, though I’m sure you write beautifully as well. MR is of the highest order.
