As a half Japanese, I was finally baptized into the Japanese Orthodox Church this year after 2 years of walking with Christ (at some point drifting far, but never cutting myself off from Him). Life is tough for an orthodox in Japan. I went from wanting to preach about Christ and the glory of His True Church on earth to being one who more and more just wants to submit to God’s will, and realize that the best thing I can do in my position is to pray, pray for these people, and to allow God to slowly turn me into a vessel worthy of His Spirit (which took, and is taking a lot of work, especially on a sinful person like me). To become an antenna of God’s grace here in this wilderness through prayer and seeking His will always. Please pray for us in Japan, we sincerely need your prayers. And thank you so much for making a video with Father Daniel, it fills me with hope to see a true servant of the Lord working in this land. Saint Nicholas, please pray to God for us!
Thank you for your testimony of faith. With God’s help, I hope it bears fruit and brings more people closer to the Sacraments/Holy Mysteries.
God bless!
Glory To God
Amen Amen Amen !!!
I love Father Daniel. He’s so lovely

Hristos S-a înălțat!
Frumoasa dantelaria de la catapeteasma!
Să dea Dumnezeu sa se adune cât mai mulți români în această biserica Ortodoxă Română și nu numai, să se întoarcă toți la Hristos!
Is it possible to get Japanese subtitles? I think it would be very useful for our Japanese friends to hear this wisdom 🙏🏻☦️🇯🇵
Thank you, we'll work on it.

This is a good thing Orthodoxy has a presence in Japan. But I get an uncanny feeling seeing a priest not being native to the area of his parish.
christianity as a whole is less than 1% of the Japanese population, Orthodoxy alone is even less than that. there are native Japanese priests, but not many as the orthodox population of japan is so tiny. Though hopefully one day this will not be the case
Not to worry, there is an autonomous Japanese Orthodox Church under the omophorion of the Moscow Patriarchate. It was founded by St. Nicholas of Japan, and is run almost entirely by Japanese clergy, including their bishop(s).
The Apostles weren’t native to the areas they went and preached Christ. Ethnicity doesn’t matter, it’s the heart that matters.
I’m a bit lost, what does he mean Orthodox don’t go out in the street. Don’t we have example, after example of those in the Old and New Testament of Holy people going about preaching or spreading the word. I’m in need of further clarification
This is an answer from Fr. Daniel for you:
"What I meant was that the Orthodox Church does not and should not have missionary strategies. The Orthodox mission is the sanctification of man, and it begins with the sanctification of each Christian. And I don't mean hypothetical sanctification, but pragmatic, real sanctification. The apostles preached only after they had become vessels of the Holy Spirit, not before. The missionary method of the apostles is continued by the saints. They have the Holy Spirit in them in an empirical, real way and through them work for the salvation of the world. Examples of authentically Orthodox missionary work can be found in the contemporary Saints, such as Joseph the Hesychast, Silouanos the Athonite, Sophronius of Essex. They sanctified themselves and filled the earth with the Holy Spirit that was poured out upon them. Today we want to go about convincing others with empty words, without a life of the Spirit. That is why the Orthodox method of mission is first of all internal. Only then, and only if the Holy Spirit is willing, does one go out to preach. In the Philokalia, the proclamation of the faith is placed after theology as a virtue. Therefore, those who have renounced their passions and are filled with the Holy Spirit are subject to it. For this reason, we too, from the hierarch to the last priest, should be concerned not with our mission, but with our sanctification. And the Holy Spirit works both, if we want him to."
@@otelders Ahh okay, at first I thought the Fr was insinuating a complete rejection of preaching etc., but if I am to understand correctly he is trying to say to take on such a role one obviously has to be fit i.e. being filled with the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for taking your time to reply.
