Before I got the game, I would watch this trailer over and over again. It was so exciting to think that I would finally be able to play it and it’s still fun to play 7 years later

I had a full german squad who had 70+ starting aim and 4-5 health with -1 to 9 defense. the 75 aim guy became the sniper, and they all had blonde hair and pure german faces. lmao, the chances of that. :P

It’s the lost 10 countries and the council shuts down xcom one
My reasoning being that Bradford/Central is still alive in xcom 2
Another supporting piece of evidence is that the councilor is a member of advent in xcom 2 which implies he was indeed mind controlled

Bought it 2 weeks ago for $4. Finished it after 78 hours. Going to min-max that runthrough with the best skills for another 5 hours maybe. It's been fun. WOTC is prohibitively costly rn so that's a nada.

If you look in the XCOM Archives in the Avenger, it says that ADVENT's main goal with their propaganda is to encourage a culture of fear and self-reporting among citizens. They don't give a shit wether the people really LIKE them or not, they just have to do the bare minimum to prevent open revolt. Red and black play into these goals perfectly, making the average citizen question wether it's a good idea to help these XCOM people against the overwhelming might of the ADVENT forces...

Who else was disappointing that the Advent soldiers weren't human? That many actually favored Advent over the old world order. Could've of been a really deep story.
Yeah, it could have been a great plot point, but in the context of everything we know it doesn't make any sense. The Ethereals' character has been total control freak from the beginning, and humans have feelings and attachments. Better to have mindless drones.
And most humans DO prefer ADVENT to the old governments. They just don't question the fact that nobody they know is, or knows, anyone who serves in the military.

Setting the sequel in a timeline where you LOST the invasion was the most genius and left-field decision on the part of the developers. It enabled a much deeper examination of the aliens/Elders and made for a whole new dynamic that was in line with the old XCOM but sharply distinct from it.

I could be wrong, but I think you still have an opportunity to set back their progress even after the "Doomsday timer" starts counting down.
Point being: If the Avatar Project is completed, there will be a deadline and once it hits zero, XCOM are all killed or captured by ADVENT.
