    Amazing! Well done, Jon!

It's pretty interesting how different analysts can view the exact same play. First play to breakdown, saw someone else grade this as an elite throw dropped by Mcmillian (a common theme for him). Open, ball perfectly placed on his hands and the view from behind shows plenty of room to get both feet down. Also pointing out the wide open throw that he "should have taken" Raiders no. 7 is already breaking and actually starts to undercut the throw as Baker throws to the other side of the field. Would it have been a back breaking pick? Who knows.
I'm not a 'Baker Bro" but I think he's playing pretty well and most of his "terrible, bench him bad" streaks tend to happen when the whole offense falls apart with dumb penalties, bad pass protection and drops. Baker seems to join the fun and throw in a bad decision or inaccurate ball at those moments. Could be a case of too much emotion by the offense which I guess you live and die by. These "bad quarters" or "bad stretches" are also really small sample sizes because when you play bad you only get 3 plays (or less with a turnover) per possession. It feels terrible watching as a fan and feels like nothing is going right, but it's probably only a mistake or two that can derail the whole flow. Football is the ultimate team sport. 1,000 foot view I'd say the offense is largely successful and seems to mitigate it's weaknesses well.
Largely I enjoy watching the offense with this QB and think it would be a big mistake to take that for granted, just ask the Browns. This team could be dangerous if the defense gets a little healthier and the offense streaks hot at the right time. I don't think there is much value in just "baker needs to play better". That's much easier said than done. The best short term fix is probably head coach make better game decisions (probably 2 or 3 more wins if every player plays exactly the same and just stop being a coward) and long term is continue to build depth that was a casualty to the Brady all in years so injuries don't derail a season.

@@michaelsotak5405 I feel like I have to defend Jon because I love his content so much. He constantly says that you can be inconsistent and good at the same time. It isn't mutual exclusive, baker can hit all throws and make good reads but there are stretches in games where like his brain goes haywire. Jon consistently says baker is good, but when you compare him to elite QBs his football brain short circuits at times that really doesn't make sense, because most of the time he does what he is supposed to do. It shows that he can and most of the time will do the right thing so it doesn't make sense when he doesn't.

@@twanphan7467 I'm really not criticizing Jon, It seems like he knows what he is talking about. I am more pointing out that two well informed analysts looking at all22 arm chair QBing can't even agree on the correct decision, and then the conclusion is "Baker makes bad decisions" when he's making these decisions in a split second. I think it's a little bit of over analysis and it's pretty clear Jon is not doing this in good faith. He is informed, but he has an agenda. If McMillian just holds onto that ball like any replacement level NFL receiver would it's probably the highlight they show in Boomer's fastest 2 minutes.
Same can be said about the second interception. Yeah Mcmillian eventually came open, but when baker glanced the safety was in the middle and typically would come over to cover McMillian on the post. He fakes and goes to Otton, who probably gets a touchdown anyway if Cody Mauch doesn't get blown directly back into baker hitting his arm as he throws (I don't recall Jon even pointing out Baker is hit as he throws, which is obvious from all angles, just calls it a terrible throw). Again, multiple analysts can't even agree on the correct decision after the fact reviewing the play for 5 minutes, but this is treated as categorically wrong in this analysis.
QB always gets the blame and the credit and it's fine that Jon is overly critical of Baker, just as there are others who give him too much credit. I just think the conclusion is way off especially saying he was the worst player on offense that day (I know Baker said that, he's a good leader). Any game that Ben Bredeson or Jaylen McMillian are starting on the field it's hard to suggest anyone else is the worst player on offense.
PS as this seems to be a massive assumption of Jon's in his analysis, The Oline is severely overrated in pass protection. And don't take my word for it, Liam Coen tells you every week with his gameplan. There is a reason Baker has the quickest time to release in the league and of his career this year. Actions speak louder than words.

great breakdown, really makes you wonder how great baker and this offense can be if baker was just more consistent. Crazy how he's mostly shaken off these bad moments too and becomes pretty clutch at the end games.

The combination of inconsistent mechanics effects Mayfields’ ability to push the ball upfield. Kudos to Coen by design protecting the offense from Mayfields’ inconsistencies because there’ve been several games this season where we start face and end up stalling out for a quarter or more.
A lot of the horizontal pass plays whether it be the different types of screens to WRs, RBs, or TE are to keep defenders from crowding the box and gives Baker just 1 read to worry about. Baker is still making his pass pro look worse than it is with the undisciplined drop backs.
6 turnovers since the bye week from your primary ball handler, and still being 3-0 in that span takes a team effort. Also missing wid open WRs was a thing in Cleveland and after >100 games there should be no excuse to why his play is so shotty.

I think Baker is doing good this season but he needs more consistency. One quarter he’s great the next he stinks. While he’s only 10th in sacks which isn’t terrible I think with a Top 10 line like he has it’s not good. Turnovers are also an issue. On a positive note he isn’t the type of Quarterback that’s going to blow the game at the end with a pick-6 like Jameis 😂. I still think he’s a Top 7-12 QB ITL.

Incredible stuff, JL. Baker has been frustrating at times with not taking the first read and holding onto it too long, trying to play hero ball. Evans has to be frustrated watching his 1K streak come to an end even though he’s open so much.

Thanks man! He is open a lot, but in fairness I think he's produced great with Baker. He's only missing out on the streak because of injury, that's all. But everyone would probably see a slight uptick if Baker would play more on time, for sure.

Holy shit...you mean he missed throws? You mean he's not perfect? You mean you can break down where he SHOULD throw by watching film in slow motion from over the top of the entire field? This could be done every game, to every QB.
Let me show you how easy. One one play you said "theres no reason to leave the pocket" lmao. How bout on the int in the endzone, where he stayed in the pocket and his guard got blown back in to him? Hindsight is always 20/20. The guy is won of the best qb's in the NFL and has showed up for his team in big ways week in and out. You did this analysis like you're wondering who the Bucs are gonna get to replace him. Crazy.

Chill to me? This guy spent 45 minutes trying to tear down a guy that has been one of the best QB's in the league the last 2 years. Make it make sense. Playing with banged up number 1 wr, shepherd who had about 10yds receiving last year, Mcmillan, a rookie. And without their best rb this game. 3 td passes...2 picks, but 1 fluke type and one where he was hit as throwing. Could he have played better? Of course. So could have Burrow, Mahomes, Jackson, etc. Doing a lot of great things in this offense that is high ranking in many, many areas. I just think this type of stuff is a needless kick in the balls.
