- Pardon the out-of-tune piano, but I managed to fix my broken sustain pedal. Hopefully it lasts. :)

You can also tighten the knots and bolt next to the pedal inside the piano to raise or lower the rod As well to adjust it.

Just had to do the same thing today with our office piano! Apparently it hadn't been played for 10 years, and it had been killing me since I started there that it's been unplayable. Only took me a year, but I finally snapped today and decided to take a crack at repairing it. It was unfortunately more than a felt circle. I had to MacGyver a halved pen cap under the "stick" for both the soft and sustain pedals, but she sounds amazing now!!

Good job on the pedal repair! I would have had to dismantle the friggin piano to see how it works first. lol ... I still want too. How that little piece of felt made the pedal work is driving me nuts!

Love the "Farmer Fix-it" repair, all you need now is some chewing gum, baler twine and duct-tape and you'll be fixing everything!

That's what we call as "Jugaad" in India.
Jugaad (alternatively Juggaar) is a colloquial Hindi-Urdu word that can mean an innovative fix or a simple work-around, used for solutions that bend rules, or a resource that can be used as such, or a person who can solve a complicated issue.

there should be a screw you can tighten where the pedal first connects in the piano which adjusts how far you need to actuate the pedal to engage the sustain.

I hope I can fix my sustain pedal on my piano based on what you just showed us.....and, then, you turn around and surprise us with your voice and how well you can play! Thank you! It's going to take me a couple of days to get under my Spinet to fix it, and the pedals are all to the left when the board comes out from the bottom, but, the principal should be the same. Thank you. I'll try something tomorrow...until then, I have a very cheap Williams full electric keyboard...problem with that is that it sounds a bit tinny and the keys aren't weighted like a Yamaha.

That's awesome. Question: Anyone know where the rods go once up out of sight behind the keyboard? I had a squeaky sustain pedal and took the nut off today in order to get behind the mechanism - to avoid getting oil all over the place. I guess it got too loose because now the top end of the sustain pedal rod is moving all over the place - hoping it's not a big deal but taking the thing apart wasn't on my list of "honey dos" this weekend.

My sustain pedal won't work, I've done absolutely nothing and I've only got it for Christmas. I took the headphones out and it still won't work. Mines an electric piano (Yamaha YDP-101) and idk how to fix it could you help?

My Sustenuto Pedal won't come back up. My brother recently had a bible study with a couple of his friends and they were playing the piano a lot. I come back the next day to practice and the middle pedal won't come back up. It just stays down and I don't know what to do. Any info?
