  • A little update video on how the Euphorbia obesa and symmetrica seedlings are doing after two months. We got pretty decent germination, although it took a little time for some to germinate. We'll also see if any of the pale coloured symmetrica seeds we sowed in the Euphorbia pollination video have sprouted. Enjoy! :)

    YIPPEE!! Great seedlings!!! Isn't funny how they look like herbaceous plant sprouts!! Then pop out that succulent head!! Good idea to take off the cover after they come up real well. They should do fine now!! I think I have seven hybrids right now. Polygona snow flake x horrida, ceriformis X horrida, ceriformis X polygona snow flake, opuntoides X enormis, stellata X groenewaldii, my stellata X evansii " enigma " and one I didn't start here, some
    horrida X polygona seedlings that I got out of a hybrid plant I bought last year. Try that symetrica X obesa again!!! The seedlings you have look wonderful!!! Good job Daz!! Keep us updated!! And thanks for sharing!!! I'll be trying to do another video soon, have a rather nasty cold right now , plus a double whammy, it's rag weed season!!! And with two varieties in full bloom it's rather miserable trying to talk ,hahaha !!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks ,to the UK and Singapore, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌺🌴🌻🌹🌳🌷🌲🏵🌿😃👍

      Thank you so much, Clyde 😊 Haha yeah they certainly don’t look like Euphorbia when they first sprout. That’s awesome you have a lot of hybrids. Hopefully I can hybridise more as well but I didn’t get many Euphorbia flowers this year, still time though. Hope you’re feeling better soon. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend. Have a wonderful day and week from Edith & myself to you and Deb 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜

    Such cute Euphorbia seedlings, they are adorable! They look like they have been grafted with those long stems 🤭 They are looking vibrant green and healthy!
    Fantastic to see you had more seed pods develop on the plants! 👌😊🌟🌵

      Thank you so much, Claire 😊 Haha yeah they kinda do look grafted. Happy with how many germinated, bit of a shame with all those non-viable symmetrica seeds the first time, but got way more viable ones after the second pollination 😁 Thank you for watching and commenting as always, Claire. Oh wow! They look so cute and healthy. I have never seen them like this - from seeds before. They do look quirky. 😆 It always pays to be patient especially with these type of plants. I am learning so much from your videos still, Sweetheart. Thank you for your hard work and tirelessly devoting time and generously sharing your knowledge and observations from your experiments. As always, loved watching these new uploads with you. ❤️🤗😘❤️

      Thank you so much my love 🥰 Yeah they certainly do look cute lol. Definitely seems like you do have to be patient with these to germinate sometimes, although I think the heat we had probably delayed some of them a little. Enjoyed watching with you as always, too ❤️ Thank you for all your love, support and encouragement ❤️🤗😘❤️

    They look so cute! Very interesting how some of the seeds turned out to be hallow inside and what causes that. My Obesa x Anoplia seedlings also started out thin at the bottom. But after taking them outside and exposing them to filtered sun, they have grown fatter at the bottom. I’m sure yours will do the same as they grow.

    • @Cactimania
      @Cactimania  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you so much, Ana 😊 With the seeds it may have been the first time they ever set seed, so it could explain why a lot of them weren’t viable the first time. The second time around they set many more viable seeds, especially the symmetricas. Yeah once I start giving these more light now they should start thickening up on the stems. Don’t want them stretching out too much as that could cause issues later on. Thank you for watching and commenting as always, Ana. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜☕️

    The bebes are so cute, Daz! My first obesa seedling was so ridiculous, I call it my obesa balloon. I didn't know they liked a lot of light so the stem grew probably a couple of inches long. I've propped up the neck with layers of inorganic material and gave it lots of the light so the plant looks normal now but it's in a super tall cup lol. They're so fun to grow since they grow faster than many cactus. Happy growing and thanks for sharing, Daz!

    Thx for the info!!
    Question: how long can you wait to sow the seeds?
    It's because I have an obesa with seedpods. But the conditions aren't ideal right now.
    The seedpods haven't popped yet.
    Thx!

    • @Cactimania

    My Obesa seedlings i sowed about 9 months ago look just like yours with the long stems. When do they grow out of that long stem lollipop stage? Do you pot them up later and put the stem deeper? I’ve been waiting for the stem to swell but i don’t think they will, so i’m wondering if they will eventually fall over! 🧐
