It's probably the garbage traction control system in those trucks, I own a ram 1500 around the same year and the TC legit just turns its self back on when you turn it off.
Some of these guys have got to ease in to these pulls because that can definitely determine if they'll even make it down the track or not or worse case scenario destroy the drive train.
Not sure about gassers but stock diesel classes pull 2nd and/or 3rd gear in 4Low. Because of lower torque in gassers i would assume they're pulling 2nd Low only.
I’ve got a fairly built 6.0 gas GM. 4.56 gears with 33 inch KO2s. I run 4 low. Start in second gear shift to 3rd and lock the converter. Won point’s championship two years in a row.
It's the transmission, can't stop it from upshifting. There are tuners that can allow you to control it apparently. Guys that try to do burnouts in their Chrysler 300s always have upshifts till it bogs and then downshift and repeat in a cycle of shift chasing...transmission killer for sure.
I pull a 2002 2500hd 6.0 liter. It’s got a Texas speed cam, TBSS intake, long tubes, electric water pump and fan, under drive pulleys, so really good tuning, built manual valve body 4l80E, converter lock up switch, 4.56 gears, rear locker, front limited slip, kryptonight steering components, traction bars and 33in bfg ko2’s. I pull in second gear 4low and lock the converter at about 75 foot. I’m consistently in the top 3 and won point’s championship two years in a row.
6.0l make such badass pulling engines
Man those bullet hole wheels still look good these days, gives it a real truck look
Gotta love a classic. I don't think they would look too good on the newer chevys or GMCs, but the Dodge or Ford's would still look good with them
I love the too I have the deep dish Mickey Thompson rims with 32s on my Toyota. Wish I could find the 8 lug ones for the 98 Chevy
Nice pulls but does everyone run 1in pipes with glass packs around there?
My thoughts too
Must have had a clearance sale at the local muffler shop on all 1in pipe and glass packs lol
At least they keep them clean tho!
I agree, they’re taking power away and it sounds annoying
Mike Maes or actually helps having smaller wheels because you get more sidewalk flex
That blue Chevy was close to busting a tie rod
The red clapped out dodge really did well......at maintaining track surface, that thing couldn't pull the skin off a pudding

I need to go to one of these. looks FUN!
Nothing like the sound of an LS Gettin It.
Some of those sound absolutely horrible with their choices of exhaust, sounds like 1.75 tubing and glass packs 🤢🤮
Everyone is hating on the small exhausts man I’d just want er loud to let them bald eagles fly🤘
Making all that noise and going nowhere pathetic
@@troy5596 aw U commenting.
What is the matter Brandon?
@@troy5596 but pulling a 40,000 pound sled
That ruby red squarebody tho 🔥
I think the rotten pumpkin is a super bad ass truck
That Ford was still spinning tires with authority even when it stopped moving.
Just like all the Chevy's did, that one Ford lol
@@samduran5180 right, Not!
@@TheFoMoCo1903 Lol well you must be blind like the rest of the 🐑
Free spinning is not Authority
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!

Not for sure where this town is but it must have the worst exhaust shop in the world
nice trucks
Piss poor show by the Dodge boys. Like the square body Chevy's though!
Some of this trucks are doing good
Wonder which ones was the 8.1..... love the truck at 2:44. And 3:10
All 6.0
Because they are 3/4 ton 6.0
If I had to guess the green one, she sounded a lot different.
Man everyone is hating on the 1.75 inch pipes and glass packs might have to put it on my truck now
I've been gas lighting feelings since 1976...You do you man!
Chevy!!👍
Silly "Hemis" trying to play with the LS bunch
Dodges did do much. Chevy power! Quick question do most of these guys pull in low lock or high lock to gain more speed and momentum?

Feels good to be in the Chevy truck club....except I have the 6.5 td
I also have one and I was just thinking not sure my truck would be as fun

Well that’s the long answer to. Yep crap!!
Facts gotta love puttin er to the floor in a Chevy
Not much you see the 8 Luger short bed.
Dang most of those Chevy's don't sound stock lol like the red Dodge no wonder they are doing better
Dodge didn’t give er the beans
6.0 Chevy with a good cam and minimal head work is good for that 500 ish hp mark. Super easy to get real healthy numbers out of them.

Chevy power!!👍👍
I AGREE
💪
I’ll noise no power
Some of those aren't really street trucks
Does every truck have 2" exhaust pipes?
1 FORD 2 DODGES AROUND 12 CHEVYS BASICALLY LIKE MOST GAS TRUCK PULLS
UH is it me or do Chevys have trouble hacking the program
Glass packs sound so trashy
Confederate Railroad sang, "i like my women a little on the trashy side" so...that may be a good thing to a few of the fans.
@ that’s dumb logic
Why do all of these trucks sound like wet farts. Damn
1in pipes bro
The rules are extremely loose in truck pulls. No one is watching or checking anything really.
The glass pack/ cherry bomb muffler trend needs to stop most the trucks sound like garbage.
You need to stop
YOU MUST DRIVE A FORD TRUCK
We just got married two hours ago and now we're $25,000 in debt please help.
