His performance in Elvis was insanely good. He should have won an Oscar. He did get the BAFTA, Golden Globe and numerous others though. That role was intensely physical and Austin nailed it. He did the singing and dancing that just shows how good he is

Great interview!!! Love Austin’s passion and although he’s far removed from it, still seems to have associated himself so closely to the role. Love that.
I have to say I am kind of tired of people saying he is still "talking like Elvis" go watch him in Tarantino's movie that was filmed prior to him being cast as Elvis and he sounds the same as he does now. People comparing him to the way he sounded at 18 or 20 is not appropriate as people's voices do change. Elvis was proof of this. Plus he has said more than once that all the singing on an untrained throat has damaged his vocal chords permanently. Leave the guy alone about his voice, let us all bask in the glory of his performance and the accolades he recevied after it. If you listen to him without watching him he doesn't sound anything like he did in the Elvis movie. Further, Vanessa Hudgins has said more than once that he sounded like Elvis BEFORE he did any preparation, that's why she said he should play Elvis, because of the similarities in his voice, especially after he dyed his hair dark for Tarantino's movie.. People need to stop ragging the man.

Yep, I just rewatched OUATIH and he sounds exactly the same. He just has a husky voice and when combined with a laidback californian accent it's similar to a southern drawl. You're right though that spoke the same way before Elvis. People are comparing his teen roles to his adult speaking voice.

If you go watch the comparison videos of the press conferences between Elvis and Butler you will change your mind. He sounds exactly like him. Priscilla and Lisa Marie thought so too and I think they would know.

Do all Brits think that anyone with a deep voice sound like Elvis? They used the example of the interview above as Austin Butler still doing an Elvis voice but to these American ears he doesn't sound remotely like Elvis. He sounds how Austin Butler did before he did Elvis. When he did the Elvis movie, he sounded like Elvis but in the interview above he sounds nothing like Elvis. Unless people actually don't know what Elvis sounds like or again all Brits think American's sound like Elvis. I'm puzzled. This narrative that he sounds like Elvis after the movie makes me think that people don't know what Elvis sounds like. Austin Butler I must say is movie star handsome.

I thought the same thing. People who say he still sounds like Elvis don’t know what the real Elvis sounds like. And probably most of the people who say this are the younger generations. This interview is from 2022, so he’s still coming off of Elvis. But, during the Dune interviews, I don’t see how people can say he still does.
If I were Graham I would have mounted Austin as soon as he came in the studio.

What is she talking about! He sounds nothing like Elvis, you could argue that, if Austin talked with a southern accent, and he doesn't even do that.
