Being a student of Bhisnupur Gharana, I want to include that Bhisnupur Gharana being a Dhrupad Gharana, used esraj as an accompanying instrument rather than a Sarangi - type instrument. Even some scholar of Bhisnupur went to Punjab to learn Dilruba and Taus ( similar to esraj).
