I can only echo everyone else's comments. My dad passed away almost two years ago and we played this song at his funeral. He was blind and was unable to walk but now..... He is now completely healed and in the presence of God Almighty. I cannot wait for the day we are reunited. I love and miss you dad💔😪
My grandfather was blind and has been able to see many years in heaven! Over 51 years ago.

My scound late husband past away a.year a go ,and he sang in our church choir for years ,now he is singing God's heavenly choir.
I am 63 now, I can remember when I was small going to all the gospel singing's on the weekends. All the greats inspired me and I've been a professional musician most of my life. Always wanted to play like Hovey and and Anthony. I never made it to the Gaithers show as a performer but it doesn't matter, cuz I know where I am now

Who was this song about?
Roy Acuff originally. There was a old story that when Roy was in his older age, he was quite frail, and lost most of his sight. He asked to go back to the Opry once more, and so they took him there. They took him to the entrance ramp, where the old stage door was. He grabbed ahold of the railing and "I know where I am now, I can make it from here", which inspires the first line of the song "They loaded him in, and drove him to the opry, he was old now and weary, and very near blind, they led him the ally that led to the stage door, to grant him his last wish, just to be kind". That story inspired Bill and Gloria so much that they wrote this song.When deciding who to sing it, they immediately thought of Jakem someone so respected and so loved in the gospel community, By this time you can see, Jake was older himself, and had his own health problems. The second verse was really a tribute to him, and was later used in the Tribute to Jake Hess video in 2004, after Jake passed away.
