The Adoption Process in Romania

We have created this video to give you a detailed overview of the steps in the adoption process, in the case of national adoption in Romania. If you are thinking to adopt but are not very familiar with the exact steps, we hope this might come in handy. We were not really 100% clear on all steps when we were planning the adoption erring on the positive side, thinking we could maybe complete the process in 6-9 months, when it ended up taking about 1,5 years. Now, to be clear, duration depends on many factors, but even if we would consider all the stars aligned, we do not really see how it could be less than 9 months at a bare minimmum.
Another point worth mentioning, before we dive into the actual steps is that at the moment, adoptions in Romania are right now open only for Romanian citizens, and one can qualify either for national adoption, if they live in Romania for more than half the time (this applies also for a time period of 6 months prior to starting the adoption process), or one can adopt internationally. The process is different in this case- we have some Romanian friends doing it right now, so maybe we would create later a video with their adoption experince of international adoption from Romania. This restrictions might be raised in the future.
