Mike, you’re an incredible person, no one has done so much to keep these legends alive.

Mike is using my VDM-1 board for the demo. He also has the VDM-2021 board I built ... Mike fixed a few faults and made it work. The Tant's were in backwards.

In the early 80s, our school computer (RML 380Z) was plugged in to two old TVs and we used to turn up the volume on them to get "sound effects" very much like your AM radio trick... Back then it was amazing. It'd be a good 2-3 years before I saw a computer that actually had some kind of "real" sound output.

Thanks for a very good board! It works nicely in my Imsai with California Computer Systems (CCS) 2810 Z80 CPU and co-exists with the CCS 2422 floppy disk controller. I can access the 2422 ROM at 0F000H and the FLEX64K ROM at other addresses, which allows the system to boot up to either the CCS disk-based CP/M or the "FDC + Server" disk emulation. The RAM is solid, which is a real improvement to my system!

Maybe the next video showing how to load CUTER and ALS8 into the PROM? Then showing how to use something like an 88-2SIO or 88-2SIOJP and the SSM IO4 and the keyboard?

Hello Mike! I work at a Recording Studio in Gothenburg, Sweden. We have a neve console that uses s-100 bus for the flying faders. Im contacting you because a picture on your website is the only trace i can find of the video board used in the computer. It says "HI-TECH ELECTRONICS 1982 FELICITY ISSUE 3" on it. The monitor output on that board is a 25 pin connector that i have not seen used for a monitor before and we would preferably want to find a way to convert it to something like VGA. Or is it possible to switch it out for another board with a VGA output? My knowledge on this subject is very limited and I thought I'd ask you in case you have some idea on how we can solve this problem. Thank you for your time / J

    I want one,
That said, what do you think about the following:
OK, without a control panel the CPU board would have to have jumpers, to the address the boot ROM at E800hex on the floppy controller. The funny thing about The North Star Horizon floppy controller was that it was a read only device and it came in two versions, Single Density and Double Density. It occupied 1K of address space in high memory. The memory space was divided into 4 blocks. The first was the boot ROM and the second was just the mirror of the boot. The third block was the control and data block. The last block was the write data block using the address’ to write the data to the floppy controller. When the CPU was ready, to write data or read data, the controller would assert a memory wait until the data was ready I/O. This was very CPU intensive and interrupts where not allowed as this would ruin the timing of the read or write of the data sector. You also need a scheme to avoid memory conflict with any RAM board in the same address field. That’s very much how it worked. The floppies & drives came in single density single sided at 90k. Double density single side was 180k.
