Steam Galore - 44871 On 'The Christmas Sussex Belle' At Coulsdon

'Black Five' 44871 heads the Railway Touring Company's 'Christmas Sussex Belle' away from Purley and traverses Stoats Nest Junction to gain the Quarry line at Coulsdon on 6 December 2023. The mist and fog from overnight lifted just in time. The train ran from Victoria to Eastbourne, then to Hastings and back to Victoria. The loco's exhaust is huge in the cold air.

Lovely video Ian. I was working from home, so only got to see it at Purley Oaks. Was a bit concerned when I saw there was a freight train approaching on the Up Slow - to be 'bowled' on a strike day wouldn't have been good!
