Hartford county fair, PA , back in the 90s. Charlie Daniels' bus pulled up in front of the bleachers. Out jumps Charlie, and he went right into a song. six or seven songs later, he says "Thank you all. Been great to be here..."He then turned around, and got on the bus that never left. He thought he was gonna get outa there, without playing Devil Went Down to Georgia! Crowd went nuts chanting "Devil Went Down to Georgia" It worked. He got off the bus, and proceeded to play the FASTEST version i have ever heard. Whole song in like 90 seconds. Was awesome.
It’s been pointed out to me in the past that when you compare the devil’s verse and Johnny’s, the devil is relying so heavily on the band where Johnny’s could stand on it’s own if all you could hear was the fiddle rather than any of the drums, guitar, keyboard, or bass. Meaning without the backing band, Johnny still won from a technical stand point. They did a tribute to this song at the CMAs in 2020, because Charlie Daniels passed away that year, and the man playing the fiddle broke his bow in the middle of this song, because he was playing so hard, and he just kept going.
Sounds like they got the perfect fiddle player then! Daniels himself was known for playing his fiddle so hard he'd break his bow on stage. They always had extras for him.
Hmm. A point I'd never really considered. I'll have to go re-listen to that, and see how much of that is actually the fiddle, and how much is the background instruments. Now I want to hear both parts played in isolation. - Keith
Got to see The Charlie Daniel's Band in Iraq on 3rd day we were In Country in '06. Carrie Underwood was a couple days later. Both were freaking awesome. A legend and an up and newcomer. You couldn't ask for anything better.
When I was a teenager, I was 19 when this song was released in 1979, the Charlie Daniels Band was NOT played on the Country music stations, at least here in the St. Louis area. Herer, the CDB was played on KSHE FM 94.6, St. Louis' legendary Rock station. Devil Went Down to Georgia was the hit that broke CDB to the mainstream Country fans. Charlie Daniels Band was, at least for myself, one of the pioneering Southern Rock artists along with the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshll Tucker Band and many more. Last time heard The Devil Went Down to Georgia on KSHE, it was preceeded by the Beatles, and followed by Black Sabbath.
He put on a hell of a show. He was a better guitar player than fiddle player. But it was always cool when he started this song. A fiddle would come flying out of nowhere and he’d catch it then catch the bow and throw down

You might want to hear Metallica and Miley Cyrus "Nothing Else Matters"❤ it's surprising ❤
Boys you will hear that in Oklahoma also , boy let me tell you what?? And that's it !!!
Too bad you don't do birthday request because I can't send you guys bourbon from iowa. I have a Waylon jennings song I want you guys to hear. The name of the song is Amanda and it was the song I was named after.
My 43rd birthday was August 30th
Also I have requested Does He Love You? By Reba Mc Entire and Kelly Clarkson over and over and have yet to even get a reply from either of you. I understand that you have many request and can't reply to them all, but after the 100th or more times requesting this I hope to get at least a reply. I know you are both Reba and Kelly fans. Thanks! Do the live version at the CMA, I think is the right one to see the chemistry and interaction between the two of them.
We are tracking your requests. Well, I should say Dustin is. - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReacts tell Dustin he needs to step up his game lol j/k but seriously y'all will thank me later.
Getting a strip tease from a bourbon, that's some kinky shit. All that was missing was a weedeater and life chicken lmao
We had the weedeater available, but, no live chicken. - Keith
