I had this same problem after install, went to a alignment shop the next day and told the tech what I was hearing he winded retightening the end links for me and problem solved since then
It's the gap in between the threaded end of the end link that goes in between the coilovers that makes that clunk. I also had the same problem with my silvers. Easy fix is to get a shouldered washer for each side on top and on the bottom of the end link. This may work for you guys as well. I found zero info on line as I just tried it and it worked

Thanks for this Vid man, really helps! last week i got BC coils and Kansei wheels. Did the coilovers myself and torqued all bolts to spec like you did (all over spec) and went to a local tire shop after install to get tires swapped and on a short drive to the shop heard HARD clunking on front passenger side, told them about the issue and they said to come back next week when a more experienced tech can help find the issue. My next day off i will try this and see if it helps. Hopefully this will fix my problem, it seems like most issues are from the end links. Let me know if you want a screenshot of a page or the whole chapter. It also stipulates that the tires are off and the car is on a lift. This would lead me to believe the suspension is unloaded when you torque the links.

Same problem with my fortune autos. Had them professionally installed and they checked again when I did my alignment follow up a few weeks after. So noisy, they torqued them down and everything and the 2nd trip I thought they were fixed but the noise came back after a few days. Driving me absolutely nuts. This was painful to watch, brother. First of all get some better endlinks than what comes with the coilovers. A good set of endlinks have a place to insert a hex wrench on the end of the bolt. This is how you keep it from spinning. Second, adjust the endlinks with weight on the wheels. Seems like every video I watch on this they adjust the links with the wheels in the air which is all wrong. The best way to accomplish this is with a set of ramps. Also, why is your height adjustment collar loose? You need to tighten it with a screwdriver and a hammer. Most coilovers also have a hex bolt to tighten as well.
@@billsanter so some of what you said is accurate. I have found the results to be similar whether the car is in the air or not. As for the hex that isn't the case for ALL Endlinks. Third, these were the Endlinks that came with the coils. I had also adjusted them using weight and without. The issue was me not being able to torque them properly because I couldn't hold the bolt. Also the video here is me actually reaolving the problem. I appreciate your solutions but they came many months after the original issue.
@@HeavyMetalWRX This won't affect the clunking issue but you aren't going to get the best handling if your sway bar is preloaded with wheels on the ground. Haha now that's something I've never been asked. Actually am not a part of a band. Everything I play I play for myself by myself in my basement for fun. I would love to be a part of a band one day and make music as that is another hobby I absolutely love. I just don't know when I find the time. 😭
The music you were hearing in this video is Stormrazor who is my buddy's band.
@HeavyMetalWRX I was listening to some jams you had in a prior video and it said you wrote the music as a one man band and if sounded pretty killer so I thought I'd inquirer. I'm a metal head and a wrx owner so it's killer to see someone else into both things.
@@aaronr9551 dude that is awesome. I wasn't sure if the two went hand in hand for the general community but for me it was a no-brainer. Also, it saved me a lot of time and money to just use my own music than to go find other people's music or use just the generic tracks that UA-cam has. Do you play any instruments?
@HeavyMetalWRX nah I'm just a metal fan. I don't play any instruments. Black, death, thrash in their extreme forms are what my ears spend most of their time listening to. The track you had on the bulge video sounded a little black metal ish. Not sure if that was the goal but it sounded killer either way.
@@aaronr9551 oh yeah dude. I am a huge fan of symphonic metal, death, Doom, You name it. I love it.
Hey! Has anyone successfully used the stock end links?
Is that an alcantara steering wheel?
It's Suede. I got it from Rexpeed
@@HeavyMetalWRX nice. I’ll have to check it out. I was going to get a custom one done, but that’s going to cost me close to $900
Over-torquing nuts isn’t being safe. Following the recommended torque setting is.
By 6lb / ft isn't hurting anyone. If you watched the full video you see it's been pretty frustrating and I've been dealing with this for months. If that's what it takes to fix the issue then that's what's happening! 🤘
@@HeavyMetalWRX I watch almost all your videos for the past 9 months or so. I’m just over obsessive when it comes to manufacturer settings. I got it from my dad who was an incredible tool maker/engineer who had all of these sayings like keeping everything clean is half the battle & don’t overdo or under do & you’ll be fine. I’m glad you got the endlink drama sorted. I’ve been there done that many years ago when cars & motorcycles had carburettors & points. It’s enough to make you cry when it stumps you. Keep the videos coming Awais. They make my 12 hour night shifts that much more enjoyable & help me understand what’s under my cars skin.👍
@@Gregsheppo66 haha man of course! I appreciate the support. It's been difficult coming into the car world with zero experience on how anything works. I'm happy that UA-cam and the Internet are available for me to learn. The experience just comes over time. My dad was a "if it's not supposed to move fuck tape it till it doesn't move" guy 🤣
Def get yourself a decent torque wrench, impact, and impact bits to make your life easier
@@BOOSTEDDESIGNSWRX you are absolutely right. I finally got an impact. I need to get a new torque wrench and better bits tho.
You need to measure the run on torque when installing self locking nuts.
Also, you aren't supposed to reuse a self locking nut.
Do you mind explaining a bit more ? Which nuts are you referring to? Is it the ones on the Endlinks? I used the nuts the new Endlinks came with. Each time I've switched them out it's been new nuts. Also the issue has been resolved for some months, thankfully.
Maybe you dropped your torque wrench at some point or bumped it against something and it threw off the calibration . I've had that happen
Or maybe just time for a calibration
@@pabloromo3921 to be fair , it's only $36 on Amazon. It could be the torque wrench. 🤷♂️. I'd like to spend more on nicer tools but I already need just regular tools. Eventually I'd like to clean out my garage and get a real tool chest. Then I'll get fancy stuff that lasts.
I think he meant you might’ve threw off the calibration on accident
@@waybach yea it's kind of doodoo. I actually ended up breaking the first one within a month and the company sent me a Replacement. It may not have even been me 🤷♂️
Have you fixed that noise at 14:48 in the video. That’s the noise I keep hearing when I’m going down a drive way or cornering. @HeavyMetalWRX
So I'm not 100% sure what that was, maybe the suspension settling ? Or the spring doing something ..I haven't heard it since. I was worried that first time. As of right now the only noises I have are random squeaks which idk if they will ever go away. There is ZERO clunking, ZERO weird snaps or crackles or whacks or thuds of metal. It took me a while but I'm happy to report that it's all good now 🤘🙏
@@HeavyMetalWRX are you running the oem endlinks front and back or the aftermarket ones?
@@mariot8879 OEM in the back and adjustable in the front.
the thing that pisses me off is there are pretty videos showing the install but leaving out certain important details or things to look out for. They make the install look like an easy 1 2 3 when we all know it's never as easy as they make it look.
still no clunks ?
Everything's been good since I tightened down the Endlinks.
Called vice grips
Ty, I struggled with the name, I had to read it off the box.
is it 5/8 maybe?
I actually went to AutoZone and tried all the wrenches they had. 17mm was the closest.
Well, this video is timely.
Haha why is that? Are you having endlinks issues ?
@@HeavyMetalWRX I just finished installing Silvers on the car last night. The whole endlink situation is exactly as you described it. I've watched 10+ videos and spoken to multiple reps from companies about it. Nothing is consistent. I'm going to try your locking pliers trick tonight, I know they aren't tight enough. Appreciate your video.
@@4uto_4ddict dude if I can make one more suggestion. Use the smaller spanner that came with the coilovers. You can hold on to the nut easier than the locking pliers...although those will also work. Try that before buying anything. DM me on IG with your progress. Hopefully I can help!!
If you made the endlinks the same length as OEM there is a good chance the sway bar is preloaded. This is huge pet peeve of mine because I see so many videos where they get this wrong (like almost all of them). I guess I need to make my own video because this issue drives me nuts.
@@billsanter I mean if you actually watched my videos I did exactly what you said. I put the end links on with the car on my rhino ramps and tightened them. This is my third video on the coilovers issue and I went back and forth and tried everything people were telling me. Those on the channel that have followed me on this know exactly the dos and donts now. These weren't my ideas but sourced from experts, as I am definitely not an expert.
I’m better suited to paying professionals to install mechanical parts, but then I’m not a youtuber making a living from sharing my car builds with the world. I respect those who do this, but for me there’s a safety aspect when it comes to the engine, the brakes & the suspension. There’s a fine line between being safe & disaster.
You are definitely right on that one. My wife would be scared every time she got in the car. Really what you need is knowledge and experience. UA-cam helps with the knowledge part ...experience you just gotta keep doing everyday. That's the scary part but I feel like I'm considerably more comfortable today versus a year ago when I didn't even want to look under the hood.
I just paid a Subaru mechanic to install my FA500 coilovers and it started to clunk within 2days. Check out my short I just posted. I’m telling you these FA/Silvers guys are lacking in the engineering dept….
@@waybach for me it was 100%. The torque specs on the end links. As I was providing other people that information, they were also able to go back and retork the bolts on all of their endings, but you have to hold on to the bolt so that it doesn't spin when you're twerking the nut down It was 100% user error on my part.
@@HeavyMetalWRX are you talking about the size 14 Nut?
Come on bruh get better tools you will fall in love with nice tools and end up looking for car projects just to try out new tools lol.
I know dude. I am cleaning my garage in October. I will be getting an actual tool chest then I will start getting real man tools. I think it's time 🤘
i dont even run end links
👁️👄👁️ why not ?
I Didn’t either on my accord
Well in my case im rwd and run mosly on straight line and is weight reduction too lol
