MAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!! I had to wait till Sue could be home to watch this!!!!!!!!!!!! The table is EPIC!!!!!!!!!! In LOVE this mat I have it too!!!!!!! FANTASTIC paint job on BOTH of these armies!!!!! I want to paint up my rats and the blue looks GREAT and the Asterians should get a bonus camo roll for that orange!!!!!! GREAT JOB BOTH OF YOU!!!!!!!1
My two favorite Mantic factions and a great looking table. Nice show of the game, reminds me a little of Star Wars Legion which I play currently. I'm looking to get into Deadzone and seeing the Deadzone terrain showed me how well it could work for Legion.
Love the Asterians had many a memorable games with them. Love them in Dreadball but you rarely see anyone playing them esp on UA-cam which is a shame as they are a blast to play. Loving the content as usual
@@DreadPathZone I was about to say they are like a green house lol. I remember a Deadzone game where my Asterian overseer was on the top of this high tower and the Enforcer Commander was hunting me down as the current game was a draw and he cornered me - my friend chuckled evilly as he thought he had won - so in sheer panic I used the force glove and rolled really well which pushed the Enforcer Commander of the roof and plummet to the ground - then a stream of extremely bad dice rolls for fall damage and saves lead to Enforcer Pate on the floor lol. Such a great game. I've got a Veermyn guy who only carries knifes called Stabby McGee - he started off as a normal Veermyn who had the luck of survival and then he became an character with a track record of kills in close combat and somehow surviving regardless how bad things looked lol this is deadzone lol.
@@DreadPathZone they would be a powerhouse -Toxic Twins lol. That's what I love about Deadzone the cinematic way things can happen and create what was a good game to an What just happened classic.
Great battle report guys. Still, I caught some little mistakes, mostly regarding on how charges and assault work. Between minutes 32 and 36: -There's a Blaze Away action performed by 10 crawlers, and only 10 dice are rolled. As stated in page 24 of the manual, Blaze Away actions increase the number of thrown dice by one, so 20 should have been rolled. -Then the Machudans try to remove the pin marker and fail, so they're up to a single action. That means that they cannot charge into melee, they can only advance into it. As described in page 26, advancing into melee doesn't give you +1 to hit nor makes you attack first. That would have meant that the 10 rats would have been able to attack the matchudans, and not only the 4 survivors. -Finally the rats lose the fight and flee the building. When fleeing a building after loosing an assault, as indicated in page 36, the loosing side must leave the building AND move 6" away from it. It is also important to note that the direction they will be fleeing is not random, but needs to follow the line between the two leaders. Minute 41, a group of marionettes shoots with a short action and then advances into an assault. Since it advanced and did not sprint, that means no +1 to hit and no attacking first. Same thing happens afterwards at minute 45. Minute 44, after wiping out the marionettes, the 6" move away movement should have been made following a line drawn between the leaders of the two units. This would have placed the remaining marionette unit in an even worse position Minute 47, the blademaster had 5 shields, yet they weren't used in the assault. As stated in page 44, the shields have to be used to protect against shoot, blaze away and assault actions, letting the defender choose which attacks are blocked. They would have negated 5 hits from the rats, thus greatly reducing the damage done to it.
Very thorough, we are aware of these mistakes now. To be fair this was our first game and we were bound to get some stuff wrong, but hey you only learn by playing more.
Thanks for pointing them out, as a viewer who isnt fluent with the rules it helps confirm when i see some things that may be wrong but I am not 100%, cheers!
@@DreadPathZone i agree, in this case it doesn't really matter. However in the wider game, some non-command models give command dice, and that would be an unfair advantage. Thought it was worth pointing out to help people pick up the rules.
@@DreadPathZone lol, the perils of internet publishing. So many helpful viewers. Can i suggest you briefly run through any bits in your next video, so people trying to pick up the rules by watching get the correction too?
I appreciate your content, it's nice to see Mantic coverage. One thing though i have noticed that the audio in your videos has a high pitch whine/static. It just makes it hard to listen to.
@@DreadPathZone Yea, I understand not being able to fix it. I do want to say it is fairly loud for me, it basically makes it unwatchable with headphones. At 33mins something, the matsudan spend a short action to unpin then advance into melee combat. Wouldnt this mean they fight at the same time and.not before the rats? I dont have the rules just what I understand from rules videos available. Same thing at 41 mins and later. Rewatching the Mantic assault rules video I'm pretty sure.
I’m pretty certain you are correct, I’d have to double check but that sounds right. Bear in mind this is our first game with the rules so we were bound to get some stuff wrong
In turn 2 when the Matsudan assaulted the Crawlers wouldn't they have fought simultaneously due to it being an advance instead of a charge? Same with the Cyphers assaulting the Crawlers on the top of the hill also in turn 2.
I have watched eleven seconds of this video, as of the time of writing this comment. I predict that the rats win, because rats win everything and knife-ears get what they deserve. :P
@@DreadPathZone Well, I don't want to spoil anything for anyone reading the comments, but I will say that this was a fantastic batrep and looks to be a fantastic game! I had rather lost interest in watching...other batreps...*ahem*...but this looks to be holding true to that signature Mantic "arcade wargame" style, with a significant simplicity to it, but not so much that it's just "mash plastic together and roll dice until someone is dead".
We only had a couple building interactions, most of the action was out of buildings. Plus, in most scenarios there are objectives that have to be out of buildings which forces people out of them
