I found a 2007 eclipse GT, it has gone 96k miles, has been tuned before and new wheels, battery and heated front seat. From the images it was well maintained and he was asking for 5k, apparently been regularly taking it for maintainance with a mitsubishi workshop. Is it worth it as a first car fot me as a college student? I just need it to go until graduation (4 years or so), are the parts really hard to come by if it breaks down? And is the repair affordable? I am a big time car enthusiast and have been looking around hard for a cheap fun ride
This car is great for a college student. Do you have winter months ? The only down side it’s not AWD. But anyways to answer your question it’s a great car I never had issues trying to find parts . I drive it soft so never had issues besides my 02 sensor . I would ask him if he changed the timing belt/chain out because those tend to snap around 60K miles , that’s the last thing you want to happen if you buy it.. . I say it’s great deal eclipse GT is hard to come By and plus for 5k that’s a steal in my book.
I don't recommend these at all even if it's a manual if you want to do any tuning at all. I live in indiana and there are zero tuners for these. It's easier to go with something like a speed 3, focus st, fiesta st or a GTI that you can flash tune yourself. You have to actually use a laptop to tune these manually. The aftermarket support for these is almost nil. Replacement parts are getting hard to come by. You're lookin at 5k to turbo these. But again, good luck finding someone who can tune these if you do. "Hell cat killers" these are not.
I absolutely recommend these cars all the way, especially if it’s a GT. This is how I know you know absolutely nothing about this platform. There are many guys with tune 4G eclipses . Find a performance shop that actually knows what they are doing and you shouldn’t turbo these either ! if you actually wanna put money into a car, it’s expensive dude. Start working hard man because 5K isn’t shit in the aftermarket car world . Especially for the big boy builds !
@@brokeboyDanLT4 I've got a GT. I've been googling and looking in the tri state area, nobody wants to touch these. There's more support for hot hatches than these bud.
Good luck and I wish you nothing but the best on your journey I’m gonna have an update with my eclipse by august . I hope I can get it tuned but I agree that’s the toughest part. Good luck .
I own a 2006 gt, same colour (M03) I put $5000 into modifications over the winter I can’t wait to install it all. When I’m done it should make at least 500, hopefully close to 570hp at the crank. Exciting stuff.
Heck yeah that’s awesome. Gonna be putting close to 7-10k into the car this summer replacing the whole bottom end/subframes to make it rust free. gonna be putting headers in, big brake kit with all new timing belt chains water pumps and gonna upgrade my transmission. but I’m not going turbo. You should post content on the build, but the hardest part is trying to find someone to tune it.! I keep getting told no from everyone it’s crazy. But good luck I hope everything goes well bro.
Nope it’s still running strong . 67,000 miles I just cracked the other day. But the spring I’m gonna put headers on and I’m gonna replace timing belt or timing chain serpentine belt and new control arms etc gonna be replace the whole back end with new parts .
I love the Eclipse gen 4. Yours looks particularly beautiful tho.
Your personality is infectiously euphoric. Keep being you.
Thanks for the POV vid, by the way. Surprisingly not too many of them on the 2007 Eclipse.

Did the timing belt ever break on this car
