Wow guys, this castle is so beautiful, I love how green everything is as well! How cute is the windmill! It’s nice to see how well everything is looked after! Really cool that you can walk all the way around the castle.
That's so great to know that you can just explore the grounds of the castle without getting a ticket inside! Such a great money saving tip and from this video those grounds looks absolutely gorgeous.
What an absolutely stunning castle 🏰 so awesome that you got to see so much! That windmill is so cool 🥰 didn't know those types of windmills existed. Great video as always guys, love exploring Estonia with you guys!
Kelby & Adam - Our Life through a lens we love that we still got to explore the vast grounds of the castle and fortress, the windmill was cute and felt very Estonian☺️
Another great video guys, well done! A beautiful castle in a great setting very well maintained and spotlessly clean and tidy, as we have come to expect in Estonia! Stay safe and keep up the good work!
The Average Tourist castles are incredible and it feels like we’re spoilt for choice with castles in Europe but each is so different, the grounds of this one impressed us the most, just so vast and perfectly laid out. Thanks for watching😊
I love the red roof on this castle. It's really beautiful with it's natural surrounding setting. I really appreciate that you can walk around the grounds and enjoy the beauty without having to pay. You got some really lovely drone footage again. It helped me understand just how extensive the fortress was which was really cool!!
I love Castles! Your drone footage is amazing. Technically we don't have Castles, (other than Disney World Castle) in the USA. Thus, my fascination. Very cool. Thanks for sharing!
Lucas World Travel they’re so cool aren’t they, when you guys come back to Europe you’ll have loads to choose from😊 although we’re massive Disney fans and also love a Disney castle😉
The castle looks amazing! Amazing drone footage it really shows of this beautiful place i love the top down shots. And We too love when we can explore some places without an entrance fee, we too love to stay in the road and make videos haha
DjusLife 😊 exactly, especially when the sun is shining, we wanted to stay outside and explore those beautiful grounds and take in the views of the ocean! Any day that involves a castle 🏰 and the sea 🌊 is alright with us! 😎
Though most of the castles in Estonia and Latvia suffered in the Livonian war, many were restored after the war as well. The main reason why most of the castles are in ruins was the Great Northern War. As when Russian troops were fighting in the areas of Estonia and Latvia, it was not sure yet if they are able to keep these territories, Peter I decided to blow the castles up just for a case, as well as to destroy everything else he could. Kuressaare survived, as it was too complicated to transport huge amounts of explosives to the island. As the war was accompanied by plague as well, just a third of the population in here survived (and even less survived the Livonian war earlier).
All the footage in this video is just incredible! It’s so nice that you were able to walk around the grounds of the castle without having to pay an entrance fee. It’s all so beautiful and green! And the wooden windmill looks really cool. 😊
FANTASTIC ADVENTURE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LETTING US BE PART OF YOUR ESTONIA TOUR really appreciated now i been in Estonia even i only you touring around Estonia and its AMAZING to be a part of your ESTONIA journey. Take care and stay safe. Love from, Philippines
Just found your channel. Happy to see you exploring and making the most out of the situation. Hopefully we can start traveling further soon. This video makes me miss my time in Estonia in August 2019.
Graceontour gotta make the most of what we all can despite what this year throws at us all. Hope you’re safe wherever you travel! So pleased to hear you enjoyed your time in Estonia, it is a massively underrated place and we’re so happy we got to explore so much of it😊
You’re welcome! Pleased you enjoyed, it makes all the hard work worthwhile, internet connection is proving difficult but at least it was only an hour delay in the end😅 we plan to be back to normal schedule each week now😊
That castle is looking magnificent! Love the little workshop inside, super nice that everything is handmade! Museums are expensive, do they have a museum pass? Sceneries are breathtaking 🤗 looking forward to island if Sarama!
It was a cute little workshop. They have museum passes in Tallinn as there are so many museums (we’re actually a bit museumed out for now😅) but not sure if there are passes in Saaremaa, maybe but we ran out of time whilst enjoying the grounds😊
So did you ever figure out why Dolomite was used for everything? Is it a stronger substance or more prevalent than Limestone? Also, this location is unbelievably charming. The water, islands, windmill and fortress wall are so idyllic. What a unique place!
Ruth and Thomas Dolomite is a type of limestone😊 it is just limestone that has different minerals - has higher magnesium calcium carbonate than regular limestone it’s just created slightly differently through chemical changes called dolomitization. They happen to have a lot of it to hand due to the type of landscape and soil so I guess that’s why they use it but Dolomite is one of the most often used limestones. (Sorry if that was long winded😅) It was such a beautiful place to visit!🏰
@@TideKnotTravellers haha it was just winded enough! Thanks for the information.. I don't know what I'll do with it, but maybe break it out during a trivia night haha -- but that's the point of travelling! Picking up new information and experiencing/learning new things. Thank you for sharing 😁
as a Lithuanian, I recommend Saaremaa Island as a great place for a vacation, for those who are tired of the hustle and bustle. it is a great place for the peace of the soul and to clear the mind, to put all thoughts in place. fresh air, the roar of sea waves is supported by the rustle of pine tops, great views with only stones and sea around. after a week of baby sleep, returning to the continental land is as calm as nature itself. I came there after a painful divorce, that place helped me understand who I am and what to do next in life. I thank brotherly Estonia for a great place and I thank the mechanics of Saaremaa Island for fixing my car without prior appointment and to those who let me go in front of them. Estonians are a wonderful nation that will always help and always understand 🇱🇹❤️🇪🇪
the museum inside the Kuressaare castle takes at least half a day. it's packed with history, geology and nature from basement to ramparts. Add to that the building itself is stunning in it's simple, but beautiful architecture, early gothic in style. There is a small chappel in there, that has the best acoustics that i've ever met.
There is a proverb in Estonian that is Do it once do it as well as you can make it or dont do it at all! Guess thats why they do have alot of care to everithing they do.
Thanks so much for watching you lovely people!😊
If you like the video don’t forget to give it a thumbs up, 👍🏼 it really does mean the world to us! 🌍

Wow, what an incredible place, those grounds are so perfect looking! Love the attention to detail in this video👌🏼
Josie Saunders thank you 😊 Craig definitely has an eye for detail, takes some patience but always worth it in the end!
Very cool castle, the drone footage really highlights the grounds, so pretty! It was cool to see inside the small workshop too!
☺️ thank you, we loved exploring the grounds all afternoon!
Castle looks stunning, also those wooden villas next door are amazing! 👌

@@TideKnotTravellers big old wooden villa is aways very good indicator of promising good horror movie 👻🎥😱😆

It's ridiculous that the street name in Estonian Lossi means "castle", but in Russian this means "moose"!
