Paddled out there in 1986 on a day just like this. Looked around and saw Martin Potter, Shawn Thompson, Hanes Hedeman, Cheyenne Horan, a few other gnarly guys and felt like I made it . Only thing , I wasn’t even close !!! But fun and great memories
@@OffDaLip came to comment on the drone. So impressive how you got those angles from the front and side. Shows so much difficulty the surfer experiences. How you managed to get those lines I don't know. This footage is leaps above what I have seen for other long waves like Kirra etc, where the drone makes the wave look smaller and flatter. Thank you.
@@guyfitter3006 thank you! Yea I would love to shoot some long right points. Maybe mess around at J-Bay, try and get the backdrop as well. Thanks again
Sooo much current around the outside, and if your not getting sucked in to the wave on the take off, your not catching many at all. Great film captured here, scene.🤜🏼🤛🏼
They just finished the quarters. You can check the results here: www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2024/qs/280/the-hawaiian-islands-hic-haleiwa-pro/results?roundId=24895
If that wave catches you then you in for a beating. Of the whole NS I’m convinced this one is the most committed to drowning you… excluding the big wave spots
Boys need to start riding bigger boards in surf like this. I don't mean step ups necessarily, high performance fish or mid lengths eat up chunkier waves.
Best surfing drone work I've seen. Almost like riding the wave. Also, thanks for showing the harbor and layout. Smokin' Haleiwa!
Thank you! Still experimenting with new angles, but Haleiwa has a great dynamic for shooting
Love the incredible drone aerobatics. The footage facing harbor channel is golden. Keep it up!!!
I really like the backdrop. Super unique landscape
Good stuff, appreciate no dumb music, just the beautiful sound of waves.

You guys are hitting angles with a drone that are pure chef's kiss. More of that.
ahhh, thank you for the kind words!
This drone footage are next level stuff. I wish they were this good on the WSL
I'll try and see if I can film the Final at the contest. We'll see what the WSL says 🤙
That was "superb!" You really captured the "feel" of that wave. Thank you.
Thank you, that was the goal 🤙
Hawaiian 6-8 sure looks bigger than West coast 6-8😎🤙
Your drone angles are getting WAY better! So Good!!!!
Mahalos! The feedback is motivating 🤙

3.32 was deeply satisfying to watch
Lived in Haleiwa for many years, this is extraordinary!
Means a lot coming from someone whose spent a lot of time there!
Love the more pulled back view. Nice to see more of the wave down the line. More please.
Gives a better idea of the playing field out there. Will do!
The boys are killing it. Always great drone footage. The North Shore is on quite a little binder. Thanks ODL 🤙
Quite a bender indeed, with potentially plenty more to come

The conveyor belt was pulling that day. However, not one surfer had to do the walk around the beach.
Mahalo for the awesome Haleiwa showcase!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
Takes a lot of skill to navigate those bumps out there. Great job with the drone following the action.
Glad you appreciate how these surfers manage Haleiwa. I feel like they deserve the best shots possible, and hopefully I can give them that 🤙
Going off. Great footage.
Mahalos
Your drone vid Epic, gives a whole amazing perspective to wave...
Thank you! Got some more on the way
@@OffDaLip the vid is just spectacular in so many ways, esp that size Haleiwa.
Fine POV surfing….your style is original
really appreciate it, thank you!
Looks like a real nice day for catching some waves
Another killer video
Thanks for the support!
sick shots
Great framing 🙌🏼
Framing is key. Thank you!
You can really see the difference between Imai, Ian, and Joao, the back leg power, stability and extreme rail turning, but eh, everyone is ripping !
Yup. That's what top talent + a life spent in the water looks like 🤙
When is the contest? Great footage.

Haleiwa is gnarly ! Hard/ difficult wave, with a nasty close out end section just for grins
Lots of reward to be had. It was home break for many years
Super gnarly. Always gotta be on your toes out there
What scale is this looks like 5 ft Aus 3 ft Hawaiian from what I’ve heard
15 foot walls on the sets. So like 1/2 foot Hawaiian
Definitely 6-8’ barrels too. Are you allowed to fly the contest?
I never asked but I assumed that I can't. Anything WSL is pretty strict. Maybe for the Semis/Finals I'll try see if i can
Fuck the WSL.
That place looks super tricky to surf. Lumpy, bumpy and kind of dumpy.
And super strong current
@@OffDaLipget sucked out to Kauai…..🤙😬
@@OffDaLipI caught it once around this size
Just kept paddling until I was in position with no one else there
Made it past toilet bowl and went in

@@larkangel6593 Very tricky current that requires a good amount of time in these conditions to learn to manage 🤙

Little less bumpy it would be perfect.....!
Just a little morning sickness, but yea had everything else
6-8 ft?? haha I love it
2 to tree
Guys make it look easy. I always took a beating there
Yea, they make the chaos look comfortable
6-8 foot...i dont think so.....more like 8-12 foot
Ah, the eternal debate of surf heights 🤙
@OffDaLip maybe 6-8 from the back but a lot of those waves were double overhead + from the front wave faces.
@@kevinwhelehan421 I mean, the outer reefs were 15-18 feet this day. So yea, you could be right.
