WOW one week would mean they sailed a little over 300 miles per day..THAT'S AWESOME..A 36 foot Catalina usually will take 18-19 days (average 120 miles a day)..
Look up for Thomas Coville, he just pulverised the world record with a trimaran, alone on a 102ft boat (supposed to be handled by a 10 persons crew...). So it's doable for an extremely experimented sailor. However, to compete in the Vendée Globe race, you have to be on a monohull. (BTW in french, in this context, you say "concourir" not "concurrencer")
Yes, a trimaran can sail safely in an ocean race like the Vendee Globe. Actually, the around the world speed record for a sailing vessel is held by a trimaran. However, I don't think l'Hydroptère is the best design for that kind of voyage. The outriggers are too small and the main hull very narrow which means there isn't much space for crew accommodations and spare parts. Also, it is probably more fragile than the maxi tris designed for that kind of racing. Ocean racing trimarans are built very robust to take a lot of pounding.
Saw this boat in Toulon, France and talked to the crew. Awesome boat. Some great videos out there.
Not a record, but sailing history. Bravo to all!
Bonjour à toute l'équipe de l'hydroptère , vraiment impressionnant, fantastique.

Beautiful boat, but what happens when you it something like a log or a seal?
Or a whale... Then your fucked.
That is my favorite sail boat.
when crossing to Indonesia
How long was the sail ( time wise) from S.F. to Hawaii?
They sailed from LA to Hawaii ,their passage time was more than a week to destination.
How far across is that and how long est.
Brilliant design..
C est un des bateaux les plus rapides au monde dommage que la vidéo dure que 2 minutes
Could a trimaran compete safely in the Vendée Globe? ( Un trimaran peut-il concurrencer en toute sécurité dans le Vendée Globe ? )

Very nice :) :)

yes still unused sitting on a mooring, for sale for dirt money
I cant believe that its the only boat that can use foils in open waters :_ S
o0bananaman0o it’s on the auction block again right now
@@peterbilt2 Hopefully, it will be restored and modernized for even better performance. This vessel should always be ready to fly when called upon.
