Jem and The Holograms - "Love's Not Easy" - The Lost Music Video

- The song was recorded and then storyboarded by Romeo Tanghal for the episode "Island of Deception". But they decided to cut it, so it was never animated until the episode "Renaissance Woman", on a different storyboard.
Jonas from RockJem.com purchased the long-lost storyboard and shared it with me. I colored it and created an elaborate slideshow that simulates animation to give an idea of what the music video would have looked like. - Фільми й анімація
I wish they'd done this even if I would have been upset Stormer got a love interest for one episode. Then again, being lost on an island will do that to you and this IS the 80's and a soap opera. A one time romance would have been cute and the storyboarding is lovely, they should have kept it
They should’ve used that song in that episode instead of re-running "Set Your Sails" and "It Takes A Lot" at the very end of the episode
I really loved hearing Love's not easy because it deals with real life lessons
I as a kid thought there should have been a Jem/Misfits duet song when Jem is in the cabin using the radio saying "Mayday" so it's weird to find out there WAS a third song in the episode. I wonder if other episodes that only has 2 songs were a result of a song being cut?
As far as we know, this is the only song that was fully recorded and storyboarded before being cut. It's the only S3 song that can be found in S2 master tapes.
I always thought there was something odd about the scene in the cabin with the whole "love's not easy" dialogue between Stormer and the Hermit and then Kimber saying it to Jem which was obviously setting up the song which then got cut.
Same! Poor Stormer really got shafted by the writers in this episode!
Funny because I automatically remembered this song from Island of Deception and not Renaissance Woman. And I figured out why. It’s very close in sound/arrangement/tempo to Set Your Sails which was in Island of Deception. And that’s probably why they cut the song because it was too similar. Just my thoughts. 😀
Oh wow, you’re right. I never noticed that before. Thanks for the observation! Love this show so much.
Wow... and I’m only seeing this now. “Island Of Deception” was my favourite episode growing up as a kid... Loved the fact that Stormer was the main focus. This storyboard is brilliant. Such a shame it wasn’t included, but what a great insight into what could have been. Thanks for sharing. 💙
Thanks! :-)
The fact that Jem picked up a gun and slammed a pirate across the head tells me why it was probably cut. Even if she were protecting Rio. It doesn't fit into her character and Watchdog groups cracked down on a lot of TV back in the 80's. I wasn't even expecting that. lol. Plus the kiss at the end was very premature even for an 80's Jem cartoon. This is still a fantastic extra!!
And it fits so perfectly with the dialogue before and after. Wow, a new masterpiece!
Thanks so much, my friend!
You're welcome Davide ;)
Yes. Not to mention it fits with the Jerrica and Rio' kiss 2mn 40 s after too.
Omg beautiful
OMG this is just breathtaking! thank you for creating this!
That was lovely ❤ Thank you
Fantastic job!
Maybe it got cut for budget reasons. It costs a lot less to rerun two songs at the end than to animate a third.
Angus BEAN??
Since now there's a source for the whole catalog of 65 episodes in SD in English on YT (just as Jem Italy did uploaded in Italian a few years ago) I'll link the episode this reworked "lost video" came from...
Here it is 👉ua-cam.com/video/fFbgle0Zxtw/v-deo.html👈
Hope you now how the WKOLE SCRIPT for this episode makes sense.
Kinda glad it was cut...it's a bit creepy for Stormer to grow so fond of a man she met 1 second ago and for it to end with a kiss....
No to mention he was never seen again. But then again it's the charm of the 80s toons. ;)
Isn’t there a song on the show called “falling in love with a stranger” though
Yeah but I'm pretty that Kimber and Danse did the same thing.
Stormer didn't kiss him immédiatly. She was very timid in the first place. Also, after all, this vidéo is about love is not easy.
Plus, Stormer and Angus both seem to have a passion for flowers.
@@leonardeuler9592 The Jem song Falling In Love With A Stranger would have also worked for the scene that was cut.
To me love is zero in tennis
