  • We keep trying to get our place put together but fun keeps getting in the way! We spent lots of time outdoors seeing some beautiful sights as well as going to a country concert with Ryan's sister and dad. You know by now that we'll find a way to procrastinate our chores in the name of a good time!

    Charlie and Ryan,
As you’ve shared in vlogs, podcasts, and other media- you are gay, married men, who are still members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You’ve shared that you are allowed to hold callings and take the sacrament. While I, and many queer folx are happy for your happiness, watching you receive such privileges can be difficult.
I, and other queer folk call on you to practice queer solidarity. We’re grateful for your contribution, but so much more is possible.
Accepting special privileges from an institution (which you know isn’t offering the same to the rest in of your queer brothers and sisters) is not solidarity.
*Accepting such privileges is tacit support of their continued discrimination against queer folk.*
As white, cis, hetero-passing men, you hold immense privilege to speak truth to power, especially within this institution.
I, and other queer folk, call on you to demonstrate queer solidarity by meeting with local leadership, and expressing “If all queer members will not be treated this way, then we do not want such privileges.” No justice, no peace.

Thanks for your comment James. It seems that you are coming from a kind place and we really appreciate that. We respect your point of view and right to your feelings. That being said, we ask the same from you. We are doing the best we can to live in a way that feels authentic to how we experience both spiritual and queer joy. And we are working to elevate the voices of other queer people. Please know that we acknowledge and are very aware of the many people who don’t experience things the same way we do within the church organization. We speak with them often and sit with them in their pain. We also know many who do experience the same or similar membership privileges. We are happy for how they have been received, and hope for the same to be offered to all gay couples who wish to worship in LDS congregations.

@@charlieandryanOf course, I’ll always fight for queer liberation. I understand you’re fighting for it in your own way, but it’s hard not to look at your efforts as ultimately aiding oppressors.
When you don’t speak out against the homophobia and transphobia of church leaders you’re effectively communicating to them that “that’s acceptable.” Or at least it’s acceptable enough to stay silent.
Please continue to use your platform and privileges for queer liberation. I wish y’all health and happiness ❤️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
