I had a newfie/ maybe border collie mix. Rescued her at 3 months old. She just passed 3 months ago. 16 years after she rescued me. Best dog I could ever have! Miss her terribly.
Google it. Type in (dog breed) rescue, state, (like Tennessee if that is where you live)... You will find a rescue that deals with the specific breed you are looking for.
I fully agree, there are so many purebred dogs who got left behind/thrown out. They did not necessarily have a hard past, their family just did not need them anymore and were cowards to deal with the consequences. Everyone should look at rescues first.
Charlie looks like my Socrates. ( My aspirations were a bit high when I named him) Soc was a "Free to good home" on craigslist. The people that had him were really nice folks that didn't know to NOT advertise a dog like that. They had found him on a cold, rainy night outside the school where they taught. He was about 4 months old, underweight and had a shoe string tied tightly around his neck. He is 6 yrs old now and is a doll baby. Most of the time.
a lot of people go to breeders to get a purebred dog or a certain type of mix. shelters have all kinds of breeds you could possibly ever think of, so anything you can get from a breeder you can get from a rescue. i have 3 rescue dogs: a shih tzu/pug mix, a maltese/terrier mix, and a purebred wheaten terrier. there are actually a lot more purebred dogs in shelters than people think. my dogs are all super well behaved and we have had no issues with them. when we first got our maltese/terrier she was super shy but she quickly warmed up to my family and is a lot better with new people. she was extremely terrified of the car (we think she might have been thrown out of one) and she is still a little scared but she has improved tremendously. we have had her for 7 years now. our only issue that we have ever had with her is that she is a little snappy and protective of our family because of the terrier in her. our wheaten terrier was rescued from a puppy mill, which are extremely inhumane and abusive. animals in pet stores almost always come from puppy mills. but our wheaten is the best dog we have ever had, and he has no behavior issues and is extremely cuddly and playful. we've had him for about a year now. keep in mind, shelters have some of the best dogs.
Great video. Its interesting how many people are concerned about adopting a rescue dog, they're my favorite. If one wants a specific breed, I would recommend that if possible that they go to a rescue group that specialized in that breed. They will understand what is typical for said breed & if a particular dog is typical to the breed or what kind of special care that is needed.
California is a huge population of rescue dogs. We’ve had good and bad experiences. Many great pure breeds end up in rescue for no real reason. Plenty of great dogs available.
Rescues all the way for me. Doesn't have to be a pure breed as far as I'm concerned. My current dog is a lab mix and he has been so much fun. Got him when he was 1 year old from someone turning him in because of a cross country move. Poor reason to turn one in but good for me. He's 12 now so entering the turn on the backstretch of life. That's him in my avatar pic.
I think they all come from Memphis, TN. There are a TON of rescues in this city, and we don’t have to go out and get them. We literally get them off the street. I have no idea what’s happening....

"...mixed with a coyote" ;-D I can't :-D
Reminder that if REALLY you want a specific breed dog shelters are full of them, you just need to put some effort into finding them.

Amazing - I'm always happy that you tape your reviews and epiphanies!
You should make a playlist of dogs better for apartment living!
Both pups are so cute. What breed/mix is Baxter? I see characteristics of jindo, golden, husky, or spitz.
Corgi review request
I got a greater swiss/Husky mix, found in the dumpster, 7 weeks old! Best dog I ever owned!!!
Do a dachshund next
Great video! We have a rescue and she is the sweetest and most grateful dog! We absolutely love her. She is a mix pitbull/shar pei and super cuddly.
We rescued an apricot Standard Poodle. He's great.
Loved it! & I am from Tennessee. Maybe good prospects for me finding a rescue dog when I retire!
I just adopted one that looks like the golden one just shorter here. He's so cute but super scared still.
What a surprise another great vid
Thank you brother!!
Can you do Shiba and Jindo!! Thank you ;)
