For those interested in what linkus means when he says glitchless is not casual i encourage you to watch smiffics how many cycles to 100% majoras mask. That isnt fast casual but it is glitchless. A good show of its not what you think it is
They actually allow two glitches power crouch stab because there is no way to avoid it other than not stabbing while crouching and swinging the stick as a weapon as the stick has no set damage value it's bugged. But a thing i usually disagree with on principle is classifying clips as glitches as they can easily be classified as exploits despite some of them putting you out of bounds. And other times the devs just forgot to put collision on something thus you can gate clip in hyrule field in TP, it shouldn't be considered a glitch as the game is not malfunctioning there is just missing pixels that you can clip right through
There's a difference between a glitch and an exploit. A glitch is unintended behavior that the game just simply would've never allowed in the first place. An exploit is using a game's mechanics to your advantage, which can still result in unintended behavior, but behavior that is within the game's natural scope. The two can cross, and I think that's where the issue is? It's whether you play the game "normally" or you exploit its mechanics to your advantage.
A bug, in a computer science frame of reference, is absolutely any unintended outcome. It could be a logic issue with how the programmer programed some calculation that caused a weapon that was supposed to do +10 dmg now does +12 dmg. You as a player have almost no way of even knowing that this is a bug, it's just a +12 weapon. And I think this is where a lot of disagreement on what is and isn't a bug comes from. Ultimately the defining characteristic of a bug is whether or not the developers intended for something to behave that way or not. And you pretty much always have to speculate as to whether or not that interaction is intended. I think Borderlands 2 is a great example of this. Back in the launch of the game, they actively balanced things. A good example is the interaction with the Bee Shield and the Conference Call. The bee shield incorrectly applied the damage amplification to each pellet of the shotgun. They patched this. Eventually more and more bugged interactions were discovered. Eventually the devs just stopped patching them and let players enjoy that game. The Bee + Conference call is still patched, but there are other The Bee + (other multi pellet weapon) still work in that unintended, but now arguably intended way since they gave up on patching this bug. It creates a really weird grey line where it's almost impossible to figure out what behaviors are intentional. 6:05 , i'd 100% categorize this is a bug. It's really normal for objects to have collision boxes that don't exactly match their objects to prevent players from going out of bounds. It's 100% a bug because the developers clearly didn't want you to do this because they made a mismatched collision box specifically to prevent what the player is trying to do. Not intentional behavior = bug. So not only is this a bug, but it's also 100% against the categories own rules because they set boundaries for the boss fight, and the rules states no out of bounds. It directly contradicts the categories rules ontop of being a bug. 7:05 definitely a bug too. also an out of bounds again by the rules definition. The flames create what is supposed to be an impassable boundary.

There are a few things in some Zelda games I question on how they are considered a Glitch such as clips as long as they don't go out of bounds, like gate clips in Hyrule field in Twilight Princess as you just bonk it as Wolf Link and your next jump you can just jump through a gap. Hell even in OOT there is always someone debating stuff like "How is damage boosting onto the seam not a glitch?" in glitchless any% runs or the vods thereof, it's really annoying to read comments in any type of Glitchless video as ultra casuals always argue that something they disagree with should be considered a glitch even in All Main Quest runs which is like Glitchless but more strict Personally I myself don't like glitchless stuff as it just feels puritanical or prudish whatever is the better word for it, but it feels like that because of how strict the rules are in a lot of games with Glitchless as some games like OOT you can seam walk and other games like ALBW you can't seam walk even if you got up there by non glitch means such as with damage boosting and tornado rod as in using the actual game mechanics. There are even some glitchless categories that prohibit you from doing things out of order or skipping dungeons not required to beat the game yet it calls itself Glitchless Any% (TP), like how are you going to call yourself Glitchless Any% if you are not even allowed to do any skips or even banning bomb boosting? Like seriously how is this description Any%? "Beat the game while collecting all of the Fused Shadows and Mirror Shards." Sure I get glitchless and all will be controversial and what should be allowed however that description is not Any% that is all Dungeons as really what you need is the Last fused Shadow and Last mirror shard to beat the game just like in OOT the only thing you need are the last two medallions, like with OOT's Glitchless Any% you literally can skip everything else but Shadow and Spirit as long as the means is not a glitch which is just Any% but Glitchless and why it allows you being in unloaded areas and seam walking as the seam is still considered in bounds I understand different games will have different rules but don't call something Any% and then demand that you get all the story McGuffins when the game literally only looks for the last fused shadow and mirror shard, like it's not a Any% if you you have a requirement like forcing you to get the McGuffins instead of "Beat the game as fast as possible without using Glitches" Like I think a lot of "Glitchless" categories should just be renamed to "All Main Quests" as that's pretty much what they are, dev intended no skipping or doing things out of order even if the game allows it. It comes to a point where you have to ask the question "What even is Glitchless anymore?" as again they get so strict it's pretty much "Dev Intended" yet they won't call it that as that name is not appealing to anyone but ultra casuals
I think glitchless is a cool idea for new people to pick up the speed run, however it should be called " developer intended" instead. Then there wouldn't be any disagreement to it. What do y'all think?
It's always nice seeing the parts I miss due to my schedule, the daily channel is wonderful. Sadge that you didn't get to finish a run, but thanks for uploading anyway!
I prefer glitchless speedruns in general, but he is right about the Zelda ones being boring. Still think TOTK should be run without duping tho, because that's even more boring
me, wanting to get into running wind waker, but cannot for the life of me perform barrier skip: welp guess i just wont play the game edit: im with linkus on the wind waker dives tho, its so easy to hit/miss because it is a frame perfect thing 😆 it sucks when ur early and he kinda stumbles off the ledge
@linkus7 7:57 erm actually... the reason why it's classified as a glitch is because your TECHNICALLY going through an invisible wall by using push mechanics to go through a wall to skip parts of the game like how you would to noclip through other walls. It makes sense if you look at more carefully 🤓🤓🤓🤓

What do you MEAN DAILY? he hasn't appeared in 2 weeks
It is in the name 🤷♂️
Passive aggression be like:
Maybe Causal% should be a thing. I get why it could be interesting to see how fast you can beat the game in an intended manner.
as someone who likes these games but can't pull off some crazy tricks like in oot itd be super fun to compete in an "intended" playthrough.
Isn't that just no major glitches?
@@oost_javeln That's "All Main Quests" for OOT minus the fact they are allowed to skip the bottom of the well
that fist super slide was crazy
Glitchless is very ill defined in most Zelda games. In OOT it allows power crouch stab. A glitch the developers intentionally patched in MM.
They actually allow two glitches power crouch stab because there is no way to avoid it other than not stabbing while crouching and swinging the stick as a weapon as the stick has no set damage value it's bugged. Did he really say Hollow Knight glitchless is difficult? Bro, if you want difficult glitchless speedruns, try Dark Souls glitchless
Did you just say Dark Souls glitchless is difficult?? Bro, you need to try Tic Tac Toe glitchless
