I think you undersell just how hilarious Apocalypse Rail is. When fired, *all* objects/cover/structures/etc in its range takes 100 AP damage and everything in the radius is vaporized rules as written
i just think of that scene from monsters vs aliens where the giant lady tries to hide in the abandoned city from the robot and the whole time its just standing there watching
Just learning this game, this one feels like it would make a great setpiece for a timed mission. "Your enemy has a prototype barbarossa under construction near the defense site. Destroy it before it can launch it's weapon, or the entire site - and anyone defending it - are toast." Alternatively "A hostile barbarossa has been sighted. Destroy it and its escort within [X] turns before it can eliminate our defenses." From what little I know of combat balances, this would probably be better as a solo boss or with a small complement of supporters as its escort.
@@11dragonkid11 I know; that's why I'd use it as a set piece or mechanized plot point, representing high investiture of a rival party, rather than a direct hostile unit, and it's escort would likewise be light on firepower to keep the threat focused and the goal feasible. Although, if I wanted to do a full-blown multi-scene siege (to allow for repairs between wave sets), I'm curious how doable it would be to have a couple waves of bombards soften the target prior to having the barbarossa arrive, to disincentivize trying to tank up/encourage the players seeking creative ways to engage and break the siege. Your videos are pretty great, btw. I'm not usually a fan of the bot voice channels, but in this case it's entertaining. Which is good since there's not much in way of Lancer videos as comprehensive as what you seem to have lol
Step 1. Get Barbie Step 2. Get Reserve Power core. Step 3. When you are under 50% HP, start charging power core for a free heal. Step 4. Never fire it. You can get the free heal every fight!
so what you're saying is... you just have to find a way to hide the biggest mech in the game or get a better bunker and you have literal artillery and a railgun to destroy everything that doesn't find you in time.
When your Apocalypse Rail is fully charged: Enemy Comp/Con: [beep] Nuclear launch detected! Enemy Pilot: What the Fu- *BOOOM* You: *Maniacal Laughter* Since you brought it up, why not cover ISP-N's cold fusion cowboy frame next? I vote for the RALEIGH.

@@tankatim13 it's an interesting comparison really, cause mechwarrior was a lot less balanced than lancer and you had frames like the atlas that could just do everything, tank shots and use the best guns. Whilst it's less realistic lancer tries to keep things more balanced by giving frames weaknesses. Also no lancer frame starts with 4 armour, and the Barbarossa's armour is still pretty great

I recently saw someone put it well: "The Apocalypse Rail does [N A R R A T I V E] amount of damage"
"Barbossa. I do not want to climb this mountain. Fix it."

There's something cruel about trying to hide from a Barbarossa in a building and suddenly a roller mine just enters
Something something Sheer Heart Attack.
Roller mine knocks you straight out the window and right into the path of an artillery shell
When you hide in a building against a Barb, all you've done is just picked your tomb.

That's a player mech, the NPC equivalent would be something like a Bombard.

"Technically you can fire this more than once". Realistically, most battles are six rounds, so better use that one shot!

This is actually a pretty good idea, ngl.
Just curious; Is reserve core homebrew? because I can't find it on Comp/con.

Still sad with all of the supplements released no more size 3 frames.
Atleast fomorian frame exists
I always thought the Barbie was named after Hayreddin Barbarossa, since he was a famous Ottoman siege admiral who dominated the Mediterranean.

Shouldn’t this mech have like 4 armour.
It's an artillery piece, it shouldn't be in the line of fire a lot of the time. Check out the Drake for a large mech with tons of armour
