Transforming The Chalky Paint On This 70 Year Old Bird Poo Covered Car
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- In this video I take a bird poo covered 70 year old Studebaker and attempt to make it shine, at least a little. Before I say anything else I need y'all to know this is not a paint correction. The goal of this little project was to clean up the car for photos for it to go to auction. It had been sitting outside for far too long and was absolutely filthy. Not to mention it lost any shine it once had. Follow along and see how I took this baby blue chalk board and turned into a somewhat shiny patina'd finish. Ready for photos and for someone to restore and enjoy. I hope you guys enjoy this video. Much love to you all!

Great work mate 💪👍
Thank you Hansjörg! Hope your 2022 is going great so far!
@@ChromaticGarage yes thank you 👍
love the content, look forward to your next video. watching from Cyprus 👋🏼
Thank you man! Much love from Canada 🖤✋
Just wanted to say your videos are really inspiring and have taught me so much. Beyond grateful for the content you produce. Truly is a craft that you’ve made into art. Quick question…I have a 2001 e39 and I was curious if it was good practice to check paint depth before going crazy with a 2 step correction (using a DA). It’s been garage kept for most of its life but it’s always on the back of my mind that imma blow through it. Will be applying ceramic coating after detail as well.
Thank you so much John! Really happy to hear they help people in anyway at all. I personally wouldn’t use a paint gauge but if you want to be absolutely certain of the depth it would help. But at the same time all is take is one spin of the pad too much to go through. I have never actually burned through one of that era of cars.
It's puddin fab shop blue with custom patina! Very noiceeee
I like itttt! Thanks for watching buddy!
I have used PHILISN brand car care products before and after using it for a while I feel it is more effective, highly recommended
Love the fins, color, and patina. Nice work! Kills me with how skinny those tires are for how heavy that unit is!
Same man! Fins make it so diverse from every angle. And agreed, literally bike tires haha
차 상태가 좋지 않은데도 정말 멋지군요
The car is not in a good condition, but it's really cool
Haha yes man, very bad condition
I did this same thing on my 65 Mustang this summer. Even if the paint it completely trash a little shine makes them look 10 times better.
I agree man! Cars needing to be perfect to enjoy is a major misconception. Have fun with it man!
Such a good video! Probably my favourite to date. We don't get many cars like that here in the UK. I love the patina look, would have loved seeing those chrome's polished up too! Thanks for the great content as always
Thanks Harry! I really appreciate that. Hope you’re having an awesome 22 so far!
Still one of the best channel on youtube. 2022 and beyond? Let's hope so!
Haha let’s hope indeed! Much love my friend!😎🖤
it's 1 am here, and i watching your video before going to sleep, amazing as always!
Haha I love to hear it! Thanks for watching man!🖤
I 100% know what car was under that cover, but that bumper seems weird or am i trippin? You really got me curious now!
Haha you trippin! Oem M3 bumper
You’re really doing that great you’d get a BigMac in a Burger King 😉😎
Hahaha ayo! Always down. Thanks buddy!
Anyway you can up the lighting? Idk if it's me but the majority of the videos seem super dark
Really! I thought they were blown out in areas. Never heard this before so my soft answer is no but I’ll look into
I swear I hate birds. They've got the whole world to poo but no they have to go for my freshly cleaned car.
Hahaha right! What do they even have to offer as a benefit
You are amazing and your channel is amazing you deserve a million subscribers♥️♥️♥️
Thank you Anas!! I hope we can get there at some point 🖤🙏
안녕 난 경래

그래도 장비가 좋아서
결과를 보고 갈께요..
Hope you enjoyed it my friend!!🙂
More antique cars like this please!!!
I got you boo boo!
After the polishing stage I would have continued with nourishing the paint. Dried out as it is it will deteriorate even faster with the fresh surface exposed. For a week I would have soaked the paint in a mixture of white mineral oil and baby oil. Leave it wet and repeat for a sequence of seven days. Then polish it again with a pad only primed but without further polishing agents. Seems strange but works wonders! Gloss and depth will be restored where paint was left. And corrosion will be slowed down by soaking every bit of surface in oil.
I don’t think I have heard of a single thing you just mentioned haha. If it works for you though I’m sure it’s good enough for all! I just would never have a week 🥲
You can also do the same with Meguiars Show Car Glaze #7. Just used it on my 57 Bel Air and results are fantastic.
@@mikebaldwin-noaafederal485 You are perfectly right - but I am based in Germany it this is very hard if at all obtainable for us. those old paints need "nourishing" with the oils!
I recently found your channel. The production quality and the level of workmanship with your work is amazing. Keep up the great job man. Super fun to watch!
Thank you Zack! I really appreciate when people enjoy it. Hope all is well with you dude!🙏
this guy deserves more views like and subs! lets get him there! nice work and video
Thank you man! I really appreciate that!!
Those were made in my hometown, South Bend 🙏🙏
Very cool! I bet there plenty tucked away down there
Hi ,where can i buy your detailig Chair?
It’s a Vyper Chair. There’s a link in the description
The condition on this paint is a challenge to one's skills and at same time will sharpen your skills.
Haha I meaaaaaan I probably shouldn’t even be polishing this thing. Every inch of paint is cracked haha
Can be the rusty spots removed without damaging the paint?
Not really! Needs body work and paint
What a transformation. I of course expected nothing less from the master! Super sick video bru.
Haha thank you buddy! Hope your year has been a blast so far!
@@ChromaticGarage it’s shredding season for us homie! Hitting the slopes every night or the week we can. Try and get as many rides in during the week so the weekend can be dedicated to the grind. Hope that you are having a banner start too bru.
I'd love to see if any of the metalwork can be improved! That would make some great before and after!
Haha it cannot, needs to be stripped and rechromed
@@ChromaticGarage I beg to differ! Get a canister of QUICK-GLO! I've used it in the past, and I think it could make a difference! You should really take a chance on that product!
Another one! (sayin' with DJ Khaled voice...)
That Stude stayed outside for too long but who doesn't like a good old patina shine?
It aint perfect but compared to what it was, sheeeeeeesh dude
Haha yessir! Would hate to try and have to make it any realm of perfect haha
Mannnn the music in all of your videos are fire 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you bro! Much love 🖤
What model of rolling stool is that? Can't bend down to get my wheels and tires very well x.x. Also..
'A bear in his natural habitat; a Studebaker'
It’s a Vyper chair! You can find the link in the description. Thanks for watching friend!
@@ChromaticGarage Thanks for the great content, first
I hope the auction listing mentioned “As seen on the legendary Chromatic Garage!” - would double the selling price 😏
You sold me at poo
Hahahaha good comment
Wow!!! To even tackle that job on the Studebaker, is to be commented! Question...I see that often you use Griot products. Are their finishing and 3 in 1 products good for soft to medium paint? Thanks and much appreciate all of your videos and tips.(Plus your music is always dope!👍🏽)
Thanks John!! I have literally only used Fast Correcting cream, perfecting cream and finishing sealant. All of which I think would be fantastic in soft to medium paint!
@@ChromaticGarage Much appreciated for your response. Happy New Year!!
Laying here watching this before bed at 3am and I just have to say, I’m honored to call you a friend. You are a true artist, a genuine craftsman in every way. Full of style and creativity. Your videos are always so soothing and wonderful to watch. Keep it coming man!!
Thank you!! I feel the same way about you bro! Let’s move it forward 🙏
You cannot deliver a rusty car to a costumer. What kind of detailer do you think you are?
Hahaha I actually don’t identify as a detailer but also sorry
@@ChromaticGarage you don't have to say sorry, it is clear to us that not.
Were they on a budget or something
The car will just go on to get restored! No point in working it too much
Been watching for a LONG time. Tbh, these vids are good for mental health too...
I was a little surprised to see there was enough clear for a cut lol it really brought out some saucy gloss 🤙. Love the vid bro! Can’t wait for more 👍
Haha right! No clear though, just original cracking lacquer paint. Pretty nasty stuff haha. Thank you though bro, I appreciate you!
@@ChromaticGarage ahhh true true! and your welcome bro! the production you put on your videos are blessed!
Original paint and patina are always preferable to shiny and new !
Haha I don’t know if I can entirely agree but it is an awesome look!
Are u going to polish the chrome?
I tried briefly but it’s all corroded. Not much to do with it unfortunately!
Dang, bead maker really said “pop!”
Bing bong ✋😳🤚
Wow, this is epic, 👍🏽👏🏽💯 nice job and I think this is the oldest car you did on the channel !! I expected nothing less but a “dramatic” finish from the “Chromatic” Brother 🤜🏽🤛🏽
PS music backdrop on point
I think so too man! I think this the oldest one I have worked on period. Thanks so much man, glad you enjoy it. Let’s have an awesome year bro!
@@ChromaticGarage AGREED !!!!
Great video as always👍🏾
Thank you Ron! Much love
Car turned out good for really old paint. Great job.
Thanks man! Hard to see on camera but it is cracking almost everywhere. Super weird!
Honestly I don’t think it came out bad when you think about how it was when you started. Also the blue is gorgeous
Thanks Henry! There’s a lot you can’t really see in video. The paint is cracking literally everywhere. Very very weird job haha
I love your new shoes bro 👌🏻
Thank you bro!
hello so good, how can i get customers thank you
Thanks! I think most importantly for nee businesses is establishing relationships with other businesses in your local area via Instagram and Facebook
What steamer do you use ?
Dupray ONE!
Great vid and I love that two-tone color combo! This was quite the project and I suspect you were blowing your pads out very frequently.
Thanks man! Haha not really, I had about 20 old pads and just through out each one after it was clogged in lacquer
@@ChromaticGarage Hey, that's a great reason to keep the old pads around! Nice!
You need to paint not polish on the rusted and faded one first
Yeoooo this guy here
Mr potatoe head with a lil polisher
Finally made it on time to see a video from you :D lovely car, I'm surprised how well the transformation of the dark green area went... And the editing as always top notch! :)
Haha anytime is the right time man! Hope you had an awesome new years!
@@ChromaticGarage yeah it was quite nice! Hope you had a great time as well! :)
Style !!
Thanks friend!🙏🖤
Vyoer chair?
😍
Thanks Armin!
Great job, love the colour. But, why not the chrome?
Thanks man! Just a little job, no big work here
@@ChromaticGarage even if im not work like you with it i would have hard to not polish the chrome, just because its so fun
@@gurkpojken fun doesn't pay the bills. Only do what the job pays
It looks so cool with the small rust spots
I agree man! Really really like that look. If only it wasn’t falling apart haha
ELEVENTH COMMENT.
Am I doing this right?
Hahaha I think you have the right idea 😭
Great job, like always, the editing skills are awesome.... wish I knew how you did it.... amazing
Thank you Mike! Just trying to do my best I guess. Appreciate you 🙏
@@ChromaticGarage your best is awesome
Great video ☺️ like always! Just one question : is this Paint don't need a chemical and mechanical decontamination ?! And thanks for this awesome channel !
Thanks man! Yeah it should have used decon of course! But I knew I was going to throw out all the pads I used. You can remove contamination via polishing it’s just not advised on paint when you’re looking for great results
@@ChromaticGarage thank you so much ☺️
💪💪💪💪
Thanks big dawg!🙏
