Voix saine (et belle...) et maîtrise technique parfaite. Mi-teintes de rêve. Clarté de la diction (malgré le choix des des "r" de gorge, dans la mouvance Alagna).
Sauf pour "retraite", étrangement. Magnifique interprétation.

What do you love about Massenet's opera Manon and the aria in particular?
it is called “Manon” to differentiate from “Manon Lescaut”by Puccini.The short reprises at the final duet put the listener in tears…...
I could never get tired of this aria, I could listen to it over and over again. It may be because of its lack of a strong melody (you might get tired of a melody). Its impressionistic, soft structure surprises you at every note instead of being repetitive. And Bernheim is now definitely my favourite Des Grieux, such a great artist in this role.

The first performance I saw of Manon had Beverly Sills in the title role. So I fell in love immediately. A simple story, an incredible journey, and yet so moving. This aria, in particular, really does sound like a dream. And when it's sung softly and beautifully, not blasted, it makes you aware of the futility of the love story. In the opera itself, Manon interjects a short phrase into this aria, "It's only a silly dream," that makes one want to weep.

This feels like falsetto more than mezza voce
我覺得小聲的高音反而比較難唱,而法國男高音在此控制得毫無瑕疵,非常好聽 ! 而伴奏的鋼琴,聽起來像是童謠曲,但看到說明說唱的是馬斯奈的瑪儂時,就連想到可能是在表現女孩所穿的裙子!？😅
