Another great vid from the pair of you, would love to visit that area for its ww2 links... those tank defences, like the "dragons teeth" defences on mainland Europe, were simply positioned to funnel enemy tanks into a killing zone where anti-tank guns (spigot mortars and 2pdr guns in our case) could take out the tanks much easier... the tank defences simply too awkward for tanks to cross over by themselves, that said pioneers (Royal Engineers for us) would attach explosives to them and destroy them, as our boys did at Normandy... but they would still hold up the German advance and hopefully allow the RAF to bomb stationary German tanks and vehicles.
CJ Hobby Fly cheers for the useful information mate, much appreciated! I only had a bit of history from the telegraph website to go on and the information board at the fort. Thanks for watching.
Such awesome history you guys have all around the uk. love hearing all the little bits of the past on nearly everyone of your slendid walks. cheers for Candice. be well and keep on exploring .
Loved that! Mum used to bring us there for picnics when kids, but I never knew the history and old structures there. Now I’m a national trust member, I’ll definitely go and find them. So thank you!!
Most enjoyable Tom and, made even better by having Candice with you :) Good chat, good grub and a good walk, all makes for a good video. Cheers............Les

Sweet vlog( Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky-dance of the sugar plum fairy-LOL)I know Box Hill area, have you considered exploring The Devil's Punchbowl? the views from Haslemere are stunning, ATB to you and your's Tom from 55*N
You need the catchphrase “Remember I eat this so you don’t have too” LOL Checkout my Wales Vid from yesterday Jo endeavour to find the best Chips! Regards Dave Jo and Louie 😀👍🐾🍺🍕
Yay. The youngest is asleep, the boss is shopping and I have some peace to watch a quality vid. I quite like the out of sync to be honest bud, gives it a seventies dubbed kung fu film feel :-). How do you feel about that hotter weather? I love it being lighter etc but I don't handle heat well, seems to swap my energy. Might be because of me carrying a bit of extra timber though. We're trying to do more walking as a family aside from my gym activities but gemmas got crohns and too much exercise tends to really provoke her stomach. Have you been to Jersey? Went years ago with my folks and there was some amazing stuff there from when it was occupied. The underground nazi hospital was disturbing but eye opening. Went in alot of the fortifications there too on the beach. There was hardly anything closed off back then you could get in everything. Enjoying the walk with you both as always, take care.
haha your'e the only person that likes that mate! lol i hate it, i worked so hard on this, only for my laptop to screw up the footage! i agree, its energy sapping, i struggle to eat a lot in this heat. i went jersey many years ago with family and walked the west coast of the island in a day and loved it, loads of military defences and radar towers. went to la houge bie as well, the neolithic burial chamber with a chapel built on top of the earth mound, it was amazing there! i want to go back with candice and walk around the whole islands coast in a week. went to the 2 castles on the island too, loved them.
TOM OUTDOORS sorry for making light of it mate just trying to take the sting out, I know how hard you must work on it and when the computer throws a spanner like that it's so frustrating. They seem to make every operating system get loaded down so everything to starts lagging and convince us to make the step up to new software or hardware its so naughty. I've been using Ubuntu for a while and don't have any of that but then the software is more limited. I haven't really done much video stuff with it I should have a look and get some content up. Great to hear you've had the Jersey experience think I was only 8 when we went would love to go again and see it more thoroughly. Yes I can imagine walking the island like that would be stunning. Hope you and Candice get to go.
