Wondering how your fiblink rods are holding up. I'm glad I got mine. It's working out really well. Sensitive enough to feel when a crab is on and rigid enough to bring up a double.
You are allow up to two fishing rod if you use snaring method or you can snare on one rod and crab pot as the second (rod) - this is my understanding. I do see people use them in the pier but I haven’t see much of them have much success like snaring.
I don't crab-fish on this pier as I live in Seattle, Wa. but I think the reason so many people use snares is to cast into deeper water to have a better chance of catching Dungeness crab. Up here in Washington I just go in my boat and set my pots in 50' to 80' of water sit back have a beer fish a bit and come back to my pots full of keepers.
The Sharky 3 Baitfeeder 6000 reel wasn't holding up when used for crabbing. The leg attached to the rod flex (wobble) when reeling a dungeness crab. I ended up buying a cheap KCN DIWA 12000 reel which does a better job then my Sharky 3 Baitfeeder 6000. On the other hand, my Sharky 2 6000 is doing great. I don't have the same issue from the Sharky 3. I can't find Sharky 2 8000 or 10000 anywhere. I don't think they make them anymore.
@@elpescadormiggz Personally I won't recommend the Sharky 3 Baitfeeder 6000 after owning it and using it. It's a great reel but not compare to the Sharky 2 6000. A potential alternative one is the Marathon Guardian Spinning Reels. I went out and purchased one Marathon Guardian Spinning Reels 4000 after watching @Hook2Cook channel. He was using it for surf perch. I saw Dicks Sporting Goods is selling them. I want to add their 6000 or 8000. Not a bad price too and designed for saltwater use.
Sorry - I must have missed you. I was at the Pier earlier this morning 4AM but only caught one keeper and 3 undersize female dungies. Today wasn't good at all, very few people are landing keepers.

Good vid. What’s the blue and clear tube on top of the snare?
Savage Hookset That was something I was testing out. Bait chumming.
Weekend Fisherman great idea. I use a small little box I made, yours looks professional lol did u make or did you purchase it?
I purchased those 5ml vials and made them. I think they will work great for fishing too. I having tried that yet but will do so.
Weekend Fisherman outstanding. Let me know when if you desire to sell some. Looks pretty professional. Better than mine lol
Savage Hookset I am more of testing out my setup to catch crab or fish. Not at that stage yet
I went today and a giant sea lion kept going into my net and I kept pulling it to the surface
Can you use crab pots or snares only? Seems like everyone there uses snares

@@crabber59 I always wonder about that too. Given that the pier is about 1000 feet out from shore so casting a little further away will help I guess.
How's the sharks 3 holding up?

Is 4:30 the earliest you can get there?

4:30am is good but if you can get there earlier like 4am. It's better because of parking availability and a spot on the pier.
What about opening day? Can you start crabbing at midnight?
What is it did you use for bait
I use squids for bait marinated in Vietnamese fish sauce to add that stinky smell.
