300k white people were brought to the US as slaves. Mostly homeless and convicts during the 16th and 17th centuries. They were bought and sold.
For context 400k black slaves were shipped to the US in roughly the same time frame.
The difference was that white slavery ended when the US gained independence.

Flogging Molly is the best Irish music. Drunken Lullabies and Within A Mile of Home are both albums I have happily looped for days or weeks at a time. The whole band is capable of flowing each possible feeling into their art and then they add a little bit of something otherworldly on top that takes you home and far away in the moment you're feeling the emotional equivalent of where you've come from being a beginning and where you'll be being anywhere and anything possible, even if you wind you way back to make life better where home was. It's a good heart, might, mind, and soul workout to feel the fury of purpose and promise while never forgetting the tribute to the past.
I highly recommend their music. It's always helped fix a day when for some reason it felt like it needed fixing until you realize how much is amazing in each new moment. I love them dearly and wouldn't have felt I exited in a place I might belong until they shared the journey that could have seemingly been my own. 🫶🖖🫠🤟💖👾👽🦄💚🫂
