Going barefoot is the gentlest way of walking and can symbolise a way of living - being authentic, vulnerable, sensitive to our surroundings. It’s the feeling of enjoying warm sand beneath our toes, or carefully making our way over sharp rocks in the darkness. It’s a way of living that has the lightest impact, removing the barrier between us and nature. - Adele Coombs, “Barefoot Dreaming”
I'm a guy and I've been barefoot for over 4 years. The health benefits that I've experienced are endless. I'm to the point where I can hike trails, walk on gravel, and be warm in cold weather. The main thing is to avoid ice and especially road salt because it eats into your pads. My feet are the healthiest part of my body.
you are only going to throw away a pair of them each day lol , but in fact it is almost the same, socks are made to make shoes more TOLERABLE but they will give you precisely zero protection
No, socks will lead to slips and falls and other problems. There is or was a stainless steel mesh sock that's designed for barefooting if you can still find them. It's useless to a true barefooter but you might find them useful. Do you have a reason why you would want to wear socks or another type of covering?
A lot of people wear shoes anywhere no matter what, thinking they are protecting their feet and better supported by shoes, unaware of the foot muscles they can actually wind up damaging. Having shoes on is like having your feet in casts. You're not using your foot muscles fully or not at all. These footwears pertain to high heels, boots, dress shoes and athletic shoes.
Here in south-central USA men are generally extremely embarrassed of their feet and will not go barefoot. It is considered almost a perversion. However, our women, if they choose, can go barefoot and nobody seems to mind. Unlike my fellow American males I am very uninhibited about my feet and always wear sandals, except when I take my frequent barefoot walks, which everyone thinks is very strange. Well I think THEY are strange for smothering their feet in shoes. Human feet need fresh air and sunshine. American culture is so strange!
Yes, how true. I too was extremely embarrassed regarding bare feet. Grew up in the great lakes region with meant only 3-4 months of nice weather so my feet stayed covered all year round. In my teens I befriended a girl who loved to go barefoot and at times would physically remove my shoes and socks, I was mortified nevertheless. My foot shyness waned in my late 20's. Fast forwardly I now love being barefoot, moved to a warmer locale, only own one pair of shoes, otherwise I'm barefoot or wear flip flops pretty much year round.
Totally agree that attention is the biggest negative. I've been barefoot at home (inside and out) for years. I've recently started going BF to stores, and that's where all the attention originates. My last trip into a store... I was the entertainment for the people behind me in the checkout line. I heard much laughing and occasional mentions of the word "shoe". If I could buy a holographic generator that allowed the world to see shoes while I was actually barefoot, I'd buy it. As for cold feet... my feet don't get as cold any more, but that effect hasn't seemed to transfer to any other part of my body.
Danke for this talk. Everything u said was accurate. I have experienced the same things u mentioned. The only thing I would add is that in the USA it's easier or more acceptable for a female to be barefoot in those situations than for a male. Apparently males are viewed as more unstable, dangerous or weird!
Yes, cold and wet is refreshing to the feet, especially after pounding some stones. I can't imagine what it's going to be like in the hot dry Summer, but fortunately I live in the North of England so full Summer lasts like two weeks or something. And it's very telling that someone is willing to go in bare feet anywhere... except California. D: Nice place, huh?
Great questions people just do not understand this concept of walking barefoot and yet they're walking around with hand held computers if people would do the research they might find that their are endless benifits to barefooting . ☺️
True. I never could understand the feels girls get when things touch their feet. My friend Lanai had ticklish feet and I poked her once and she exploded with laughter
Barefoot Lifestyle and Hiking.👣 Since 1978! Still alife! 😎 Smart people, go barefoot, as often as possible! 👣👣👣👣😆 Shoes, cause damage to your feet! No??? Yes they do!!! It's just a indoctrinated belive, not a fact!!! You don't regognise, untill it's to late! Think hard!
I'm sorry, if she wants to say she did this so she can experience what it would be like, then that's cool. I understand and respect that, but don't say this was some courageous or brave decision, it's not. Plus, I cannot stand people who decide to go barefoot on a plane. It's disrespectful to everyone around you.
How is being barefoot on a plane disrespectful or any different from walking through the airport barefoot? If they put there foot up onto your chair than yes, but again no more disrespectful if the person has shoes on, same difference.
Why? Do you require them to wear gloves on their hands too? Why do you hate human feet? They are beautiful unless they have been damaged by wearing shoes that don't fit. God designed the human foot and he did a beautiful job of it.

Each part of the foot symbolizes each part of the body.
Because it is, as they say, a girl thing!
True. I never could understand the feels girls get when things touch their feet. My friend Lanai had ticklish feet and I poked her once and she exploded with laughter

Nope. It's not a girl thing. It's just a normal, being freakin' human thing.
Feet are not only on girls.
