@@ilike3v3rything83 Hey i did my SIA level 2 qualification very recently and past with great results i was bricking it as well if you pay full attention do plenty of homework/revision you will pass no problem the role play is short and easy very laid back just listen to the instructors. The exams are multi choice they have a mix of serious questions and some silly questions i suggest downloading the guardpass app on any device you got and practice everyday so just take notes get plenty of sleep each night you will realise how easy things are once they are shown and carefully explained by the experts in the industry so good luck!

Even though the parameters have changed since this video was released, it's been very accurate to my experience and I would highly recommend anyone in 2022 thinking of doing the course to absolutely for it 👍
@@Remy-eu8fm I think it would be worth checking. Most jobs will specifiy which licence they require you have, or might possibly give you specialist training themselves if it's something like a bank. The door supervisor badge does cover most jobs in the security industry but it would be worth checking if you are looking at a specific employer
The SIA is a joke.... been in security 20 years and this is probs my final year in security as i refuse to pay the rip off fees of £600 to get a licence to work in an industry that is pretty much common sense. You are expected to work all the time, holidays, christmas, easter whatever you are expected to work... also people stacking shelves in asda are on more money than security. I would not dare encourage anyone to become a security officer.... also security leads to depression due to long hours and being alone on night shift 4-5 nights a week
door work £15 an hour ( thats outside london) 5 to 7 hours per shift ..easy money if you ask me but thats if your ok in that environment ..i guess for some it may be alien and not their thing ... iv not even looked into other security work but im glad i got my badge though but then again iv not been in it 20 years mate so i do get where ya comming from .

I was shocked at how little I remembered about fire safety.. the extinguishers etc.. my mind went blank.. some struggle with other areas even though they've passed and got their licence..when it came to renew they forgot most of what they'd learned first time or didn't know any of the new stuff

It's a 5 day course now with an exam tagged on the end.Well it was for me. It's a long process, and hard to listen to somebody talking so much or all the time.Personally haven't studied since 2014, albeit I have taught TEFL for 5 years. My course was 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday and a test on Saturday. Criticisms: I would say are: too much talking at you, instead of asking students questions, a day off or half day in the week is needed for a break and to reflect on learning, and there's too many videos to watch in your down time. CPR is useful, and 'roleplay' such as customers refusing to leave the premises, are fun. But there are problems for sure. If you are into martial arts or self defense, you'll enjoy the practical interventions. What was annoying and embarrassing was recording your tests in front of teacher, while other students were watching- not good, and it should be private. The course book is okay, and you fill in a study log.I thought my tutor spoke too quick sometimes, as there were non native English speakers in class. So, something are cool, lots are not so good. Your experience may be different.of course.

mine just took best part of 6 weeks to get the letter saying its granted ..i was worried about the dbs check but all was good .. did my first shift i had to use letter and photo id for the shift as iv not recieved the card licence yet .. that shoukd be within 14 working days 👌

Congrats on your pass. Are the documents regarding your proof of address required at the course start or on the exam day? I have a handful of address documents as well as my passport, but currently waiting for my bank statements to come in the post but my course starts in 2 days (saturday as I write this, course starting Monday)
@@getlicensed Thank you, I finished my course today - I passed! My trainers were Paul and Mike in Cardiff and they were great. Can't recommend the course enough, I had such a great time. I did pay for the Gold package so I had my results early, for people reading on Bronze package...they had their exam results back immediately too! At the venue we used (Mercure) I was able to print off bank statements from my phone at the front desk, which were needed as one of my documents was invalid.
I agree with the licencing but not the costs. The badge should be part of the course so when you pass they'll send you your certificates and badge. I have passed twice but both times i was unable to get the actual badge due to the company not paying for it or being unemployed and not being able to afford the refresher part. Im currently in the last part of my 3rd SIA course and thankfully this time i have the money to get the badge if i pass fingers crossed, It should also last longer than 3 years or at least be free to get the refresh or not a legal requirement if you have been working in the industry for more than x amount of years. Personally i have over 12 years experience in the industry on an off but each time i go for the badge it seems to get a little harder to afford or access. Hopefully it'll all be reviewed in time to help those who have been in the industry stay within it while encouraging new people to come in too. Anyway, good luck to all those taking the course, it really is a good course and informative.

@@Remy-eu8fm Door supervisor is the best licence to get in terms of finding more opportunities and more flexible hours, you can work part time just on weekends or go fulltime. There's so many course providers so it's hard to narrow it down but your best option is to search sia courses in your area, aslong as they're sia approved you'll be fine

I’m not very strong and have only just recently started putting some muscle on, should I train a bit more before getting the license or would I be fine? Every where I look, they say there is no minimum fitness requirement but I’m not sure whether I am fit enough to complete the course and work safely. Hi Kainaat, being a door supervisor is a lot more than just being big and strong. There are lots of techniques you will learn on the course to help you do your job affectively. So do not let this put you off, there are no requirements at all. Best of luck!

Hi Abdus, there is no requirement at all in terms of height and size. Working as a door supervisor goes way beyond this. On the course you will learn many conflict management techniques where height and size do not matter. I hope this helps.

Since January 2021 i applied for the the SIA badge and I'm still waiting that cause they need criminal history for the past 5 years, I'm still waiting..

Hi. I don't know for sure, so don't quote me on this but my educated guess is that if this was something that would cause your licence to be revoked, then SIA would find out about it anyway and revoke your licence even before you tell them yourself because all of these different bodies kind of "talk" to each other in an algorithmic way via their shared databases etc and the SIA continues to monitor anyone with a licence like that and if something really serious was flagged up on the system then it would definitely result in someone losing their licence but if they haven't revoked your licence and it is still showing as 'Active' on their website, then I would presume it's OK and you probably won't need to tell them, although you could tell them if you wish to. Hi I’m having trouble when I’m entering my drivers licence for the licence application. It’s saying there is an error despite my 16 numbers being correct. Sia have said to use the edge browser and also try entering the first 13 numbers only. It didn’t work. The page says the numbers I provided don’t match the ones Sia have on their system which is strange . Can you help me in anyway? Dan
Hi Dan, that is strange. You can try contacting the SIA using there help form. Also make sure your name on your account matches directly to the one on your drivers licence. The first 16 letters and numbers should work, just ignore the last 2 digits.
I'm renewing my license. I've completed the course and passed. I've watched your video on how to make an application but I want to ask about my address. This is 3years+ of my living in the UK. Hi, it can take up to two weeks once everything has been completed. Hopefully it comes sooner, but yes sometimes it can take a bit longer. You can start working once you receive your SIA badge number.

I applied for the license in March 2024 I did everything in the right way and still I am waiting for a respond from the SIA 😂 I start panicking, my application might be unsuccessful.
That is strange, have you contacted the SIA directly? They may be waiting for some more information from you.

Hi. I don't know for sure, so don't quote me on this but my educated guess is that if this was something that would cause your licence to be revoked, then SIA would find out about it anyway and revoke your licence even before you tell them yourself because all of these different bodies kind of "talk" to each other in an algorithmic way via their shared databases etc and the SIA continues to monitor anyone with a licence like that and if something really serious was flagged up on the system then it would definitely result in someone losing their licence but if they haven't revoked your licence and it is still showing as 'Active' on their website, then I would presume it's OK and you probably won't need to tell them, although you could tell them if you wish to. Hi Adam, the exams are multiple choice and everything you are asked is covered on the course. Our advice is to always read the question carefully as the answer is right in front of you! We have a very high pass rate, and I'm sure you will be fine.

I’m having trouble when I’m entering my drivers licence for the licence application. It’s saying there is an error despite my 16 numbers being correct. Sia have said to use the edge browser and also try entering the first 13 numbers only. It didn’t work. The page says the numbers I provided don’t match the ones Sia have on their system which is strange . Can you help me in anyway? Dan
Hi Dan, that is strange. You can try contacting the SIA using there help form. Also make sure your name on your account matches directly to the one on your drivers licence. The first 16 letters and numbers should work, just ignore the last 2 digits.
I'm renewing my license. I've completed the course and passed. I've watched your video on how to make an application but I want to ask about my address. This is 3years+ of my living in the UK. Hi, it can take up to two weeks once everything has been completed. Hopefully it comes sooner, but yes sometimes it can take a bit longer. You can start working once you receive your SIA badge number.
