You’re so right about the constant fighting among Protestants; I went to Protestant churches for a while and noticed they were constantly debating theology, salvation, etc. Certain denominations would be in constant war. Reformers/Calvinists thought baptists were the denomination of Satan and vice versa. But whenever Catholicism entered the chat, you would think they had every part of theology figured out and were united in their ignorance of Catholic doctrine. It was a mess. Very grateful to be back in the Catholic Church.

Catholics take this verse literally. If you are a disciple that Jesus loves, and you love Jesus, then Mary is your mother.
the literal interpretation is that Jesus knew John would outlive all the other disciples and asked him specifically to take care of his elderly mother (since he would be gone). John did that. I've never seen what's described here - what I've seen among Protestants is that they've been told Catholics worship Mary, and they accept this without thoroughly checking this out more (like they should), so the antagonism grows from that.
True, but there is a reason why none but a very few Protestants will do the research and go against everything they have been taught. It is fear. Any time EWTN was on in the house and the program started making sense, he would get up and leave the room. He was in his early 70's when he married my Mom, and 88 when he passed away. The fear that his faith tradition and the tradition of his parents and grandparents might be a lie was overwhelming for him and obvious to my mother and me. He was a good man, a simple man, but very ingnorantly anti-Catholic; for those who do not know Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod is so virulently anti-Catholic they don't recognize their hatred as hatred.

From a Catholic perspective, we understand that Jesus Christ is indeed the sole mediator between God and humanity, as stated in 1 Timothy 2:5-6 (Douay-Rheims):
"For there is one God and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself a redemption for all."
And in John 14:6 (Douay-Rheims):
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me."
However, Catholics also believe that this does not exclude the role of intercessors, such as the saints and Mary, the Mother of God. Rather, their role is to lead us to Christ and pray for us, as seen in Revelation 5:8 (Douay-Rheims):
"And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints."
Catholic Tradition teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints can intercede for us, but always through Christ, our sole mediator. This understanding is rooted in the Communion of Saints, which is based on the Bible and Catholic teaching.
In the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 956), it states:
"The intercession of the saints is their most exalted service to God's plan. We can and should ask them to intercede for us and for the whole world."
So, while acknowledging Jesus as the sole mediator, Catholics also believe in the importance of intercession and mediation through the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints always within the context of Christ's sole mediation.

When he mixed paganism from ancient Rome into Christianity to become the Roman Catholic "church," he took his pagan goddess of fertility, Ashtoreth, the "queen of heaven" (Jeremiah 7:18, 44:17), and just renamed her Mary. Satan tricked you into worshipping his occultic sex goddess.
Our Lady has helped me persevere through a lot and has helped fill my heart with such tremendous love.
They are missing out. Such a beautiful thing to have a relationship built around prayer with the Blessed Virgin. I have been blessed abundantly through her intercession.

@@777thetruth2 Where are you getting that? Seriously. Whoever told you that is either a liar or very uneducated. Catholics do NOT worship Mary. We love her. She is the mother of God. The mother of our salvation. Without her saying yes to God, and He does give us a free will, there would be no salvation! Jesus loves her. We love her. We worship no one but the Holy Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Why is that so hard for people to believe? It's that simple.

@@axiomfiremind8431 Catholics honor the Blessed Mother. We worship God/Jesus alone. You think what is wrong? To worship God/Jesus alone is wrong? Or is honoring His mother wrong? Don't you think that Jesus loves His mother? How do you think He feels when He hears you say that it's wrong to honor His mother? Do you think that pleases Him? Or saddens Him? Or do you think He's pleased when He hears you say that His mother does not deserve honor? Honor is not worship.

I've heard it. And I was evangelical for 10 years. Online it's way worse sadly. Good to hear you were not exposed to that, though. Not all Protestants are like that, I floated through different churches through those years, Baptist and non denominational.
I’ve been called an idol worshipper by Protestants. Been told no one can serve as an intercessor.
It’s funny how for 1500 years Mary was held in the highest esteem by all of Christendom. But then all of a sudden she means nothing.
How arrogant of Calvin, Luther and Henry to think they can change the faith and have it be valid. I’m sorry I love you all. And I know most protties probably really do love God. But your churches are false Christianity.

@@georgekavanagh8220 How did you recite the Rosary without mentioning Jesus. That means you never said Rosary, as the Hail Mary must pronounce the name of Jesus clearly. It is the prompt of the Holy Spirit to Elizabeth who exclaimed "Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb" which continues in the next sentence by her " How can the mother of my Lord come to me".
Hence if you did not say Jesus, then who is the "Lord"? What is fruit of Her womb? is that apple, or banana or grapes..."
You have surely mocked Jesus without doubt.
Dr Marshall said it exactly right on a lot of the feelings Protestants have. I am speaking from experience, because growing up protestant there were all o these conflicting views and since my family church hopped a lot it caused a lot of confusion and doubt. After listening to catholicism being explained, learning history, and reading the early church fathers its drawn me to the truth that Catholicism is correct. Please pray for me as I want to find an RCIA near me
Look for a nearby Catholic parish and call them. I will pray for you!
That was well explained although I had already come to very similar conclusions myself through my debates with protestants. What's more sad is seeing people who were raised as Catholics gradually turning their backs on Mary because of what they hear from protestants.
Mother Mary brought me closer to our Lord Jesus❤she really is the Mother of God and of mankind.❤
Mary the first Christian!❤️🔥 She the primary example of what a true Christian is to be in life.
Strange. Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist declared that Mary was the mother of her Lord, while the babe was still inside her. That would make her first if you ask me. However, there were no Christians until the Holy Spirit was sent at Pentecost. It is the indwelling Spirit of God which makes us Christians. Until then they were only followers of Christ.
Without Her you can't have Him.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the one woman in the entire Bible who makes the claim, “All generations to come shall call me blessed” (Luke 1:48). And why is that? Pope is a Jesuit wake up. His audience hall a faint serpent. Richest place on earth and helps nothing but push luciferian ideas.
Catholicism is not the only part of christianity that venerates the Mother of Jesus. Christian Orthodox do too. We love the mother of Christ and for us her holiday August 15th is as important as Easter itself. I personally always believed in the Holy Family where God shares a table with all his beloved ones including the Mother of God, the saints, the angels and all his followers. I will always stand for Mary - we call her in greek Παναγιά - means the Saint above all saints. She has been in my life since I was a kid when I prayed for my father to be released from jail. I slept with my mom that night and I prayed to our Mother in Heaven. She appeared to me in my dream that night, I woke up and I told my mother dad will be released. The next day my father was released and the judge found him - not guilty. She hears our prayers and she intercedes for us to God the Father. I love her and I will always pray her rosary.
You can tell the devil plays a confusion game with them. "No organization comes between me and Jesus" but they don't think of the Bible or the Apostles, or any person preaching as something between them and Jesus. Nor do they think about the fact that Jesus literally puts people in between Himself and people in the formation of the Church. And the big irony, is that they have no Eucharist, where it really is just you and Jesus in the Mass. Amazing.
This "Me and Jesus" thing is so selfish, naive and ignorant. They do not understand how energy, frequency and vibration works (Sacred divine architectural geometry as well). Catholic churches and their traditional masses (not Novus ordo BS) heals, synchronizes and uplifts us all.
You believe what you were raised to believe. If you want to bring people to the Catholic religion, you must realize Christians don’t have to be catholic. I wouldn’t try to feel superior because, of your chosen religion. I would also add most Protestants read the Bible. Most Catholics I have talked to tell me they don’t . Don’t be ignorant. Protestants do have a Lords supper.
@@Anna-ww4pv It's Catholic dogma that there is no salvaton outside the Catholic Church. Protestants may read their Bible, but their Bible is a shortened and edited version of the Bible and they have no authority to tell them, first what the Bible is, that it is inerrant and that the contents are infallibly discerned. And the Protestant "Lord's Supper" is nothing similar to the Eucharist and the Mass.
@@gerry30 Dogma isn't truth. So many denominations claim to have the only path to salvations. If you were born in a Southern Baptist or a Reformed family, you'd be praying for Catholics. Stretch your mind. Jesus was God before he came to earth, therefore, he did not need to born as God. Mary is not the mother of God. Jesus only needed to be born as a human, and as God.
@@georgekavanagh8220 Actually dogma is truth. And the fact that there are many claims doesn't invalidate the true one. As Chesterton said, you can fall in an almost infinite number of directions but you can only stand up in one. God became Incarnate and was named Jesus. The Word became Flesh. We don’t “disrespect” Mary…. but we don’t PRAY to her….. We pray to YHWH through His Son Jesus….. period.
I pray to her, but all is done through Jesus
Have you ever asked someone to pray for you or a situation? It's the same thing.
I’m an ex-Protestant, whose entire family is evangelical. I disagree with you. You absolutely disrespect her. Because you don’t understand her role as the new Eve, the new ark of the covenant. You minimize her, which minimizes Jesus, ultimately. Jesus honored his earthly parents, you should too. It’s in the 10 commandments!
But for starters, you need to understand what “pray” and “worship” mean. You think prayers and songs are worship. They are not. Read the old testament. It’s a blood sacrifice of a spotless lamb. That’s why the mass is worship. Prayers are simply requesting something of someone. To pray is old English to request. We ask Mary to pray for us, just like I might ask you to pray for me, which would be praying to you! However, her prayers are far superior to yours, because she’s in heaven right next Him!

They hate the Catholic church so much that they take it out on Mary
As I have stated in my testimony a few times in the comments of various posts of Dr. Marshall, I am a revert of the faith, and attend a TLM (that's where the LORD redirected me to go on the feast of Pentecost, 2021), thanks to the Holy Spirit's leading, and also using Taylor Marshall's videos and books to help me further understand certain issues I had my first 20 years of life as a Roman Catholic. The Holy Spirit took the time out in the Spring of 2020, while we were all locked up, to have me re-learn certain passages regarding mother Mary (Luke 1:27-56), and also the reality of the Presence of the Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament (John 6:27-69). THOSE two major issues in my life (I spent thirty years outside the church, going to very good biblical non-denominational churches, and did learn a lot, I have to say) needed to be "cleared up", the Holy Spirit said, BEFORE He was to lead me BACK to the Church, but not disparaging the other good places of worship I attended (a messianic congregation, and a non-denominational church); nevertheless, in order to receive the Blessed Sacrament, and attend Mass as it should be (reverent, holy)--He led me to go to the Traditional Latin Mass. Thus the reason why He was soooo insistent on me taking LATIN for three years while obtaining my Bachelor's degree during that time (2018-2021)! Mystery solved! Lol!😆😂 EVERYTHING happens for a reason, and learning to honor and respect mother Mary, knowing what her exact ROLE is, and knowing (and understanding it much better!) the TRUTH about the real Presence, convinced me to return to the Church, and I thank the LORD every day for His leading and guidance in my life. It is truly amazing what the Lord can do in and through us, just like He did with mother Mary--BECAUSE she said, "YES" to Him--she fulfilled Isaiah 7:14, and became a perfect example to follow of a wonderful servant of the Lord. If I noticed that years ago of how mother Mary respected God's Word and His command to be who HE called her to be, I would have also recognized better the call on MY life, and would not have wasted 30 years of walking down "crooked paths", until the Lord brought me back wholeheartedly worshipping Him in December of 2016. Saying "YES" to the LORD when He calls you, will ALWAYS lead to something positive in your life! As hard as my calling is (informing and warning, and also dealing with spiritual warfare), the LORD has NEVER left my side, and has strengthend and encouraged me every step of the way. I am in a PhD program now for Bible Exposition (my MA was completed in May of 2023 in Biblical Languages, Language Exegesis); never in a million years did I think I could accomplish all of this. But with GOD, all I had to do, just like mother Mary did, was say, "YES, Lord", and it's been an amazing adventure ever since!🙌💖✡📖✝🕊
Well said Taylor... it's like the Apostles..they do not take away from Jesus Christ, but assist in the Salvation of Souls, by spreading the Gospel...enlargening The Faith, by their obedience... protestants seem to have no problem with that though...makes no sense.
You're right, it would make no sense to say Propestants do not love Mary. Of course they do. I can't be he only one. However, if Protestants saw Mary on a cross they may be tempted to call her Savior which would, of course, be wrong. Peter was on a cross, but we don't call him Savior either. Only Jesus gets the starring role.
I will never, ever believe that Mary is equal to or, even, more than Jesus.
She's a fine woman and worthy of all due respect, but she is NOT the equal of any person of the Godhead.
exactly.. but are the catholics that need to understand that..
Nobody equates her to God, big G or little g. What part of the teaching says Mary is God or like God or equal to God?
@@immaculateheart1267 is Not the teachings BUT the catholics themselves. Could be ignorance sure.. But is undeniable that there is a HUGE ammout of catholics that "equalize" mary to GOD.

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

I had to Google Helvidianism, never heard of it before.
The policy that Mary can actually literally provably have had sex the dirty way and still not have had sex somehow.
You explained that perfectly! Very well spoken. Thank you
The RCC erroneously and blasphemously gives to Mary the same attributes of GOD Who was manifested in the flesh, JESUS CHRIST.
For example, The RCC says she is sinless. CHRIST is the only person that was and is sinless simply because HE is GOD.
Also, the RCC says she hears and answers prayers 24/7 from all over the earth. This contradicts the HOLY SCRIPTURES as usual. We are instructed to pray only to GOD the FATHER by CHRIST HIMSELF in Matthew 6:9-13 KJV (the LORD's PRAYER). And in all the HOLY SCRIPTURES prayers are only prayed to GOD by Holy people.
The RCC says she is the queen of Heaven. No such thing. GOD only has a bride in Earth and in Heaven which is the true Church which is a spiritual Church not palaces in Rome. (1 Peter 2:3-9 KJV)
I could go on................
Thank you for this explanation for understanding. As one who has consecrated my life to Mother Mary and to Jesus through Mary, I cannot fathom the Protestant view of our Blessed Mother.
Not disrespecting, it's that they don't deify her. Jesus taught us to pray to the Father in His Name Only. According to Paul every Christian is a member of the holy priesthood with direct access to the Father through Christ and none other.
Protestants tend to ask: but is it necessary? Love is more spontaneous, less minimalist, more maximalist. I moved from the Reformed world to the Orthodox Church, and what a blessing it is to give glory to God in his saints, and esp. His Mother.
but again... Is NECESSARY??
@@luisbarbosa8136 at the least it would be necessary to call her blessed, in accordance with her prophecy that all generations would do so; and if we understand the Lord's giving of his Mother to John as a giving of her to all Christians, which seems perfectly reasonable, given the nature of that Gospel, it would seem perfectly natural and "necessary" to be thankful for this great gift.
Dr. Marshall,
I take your point and believe there is truth to what you say about the Protestant’s consistent worry about being right about the Father’s, Christ’s, the Bible’s teachings. In fact, I find myself there right now. I think this could be a desire to know what is true and keep from false teachings. I believe that is what motivates me to worry about what kind of information is being input into my mind and does it glorify God. I think that has Biblical precedent though.
I also believes this worry drives me to investigate the heart of Roman Catholic Dogma and Eastern Orthodox Dogma because I can think perhaps I am wrong and need to dive deeper.
I do think you must be nuanced when you talk about Protestant view as “Jesus, my Bible, and me”. But it is not too much of a generalization I admit, however, from my perspective as a reformed Baptist, I think that I do allow other people into that capsule such as the Puritans and the reformers, and and what not so particularly in the reformed camp. Your generalization can be off base. I don’t think you find this idea of me, my Bible, and Jesus, at least to the extent of broader evangelicalism.
However, understanding that idea of playing a part participating in the body and being connected through the body to Christ in the Holy Spirit is definitely an idea that opens up my mind to the possibility of continuing our love, not only for those in the world, but those who are now with Christ .

Christian faith is a representation of the Spousal relationship between Jesus and His bride, the Church. That's us. Like any other relationship between Groom and bride, there is a mother. Mary is at the heart of the True Christian Faith because she is at the very Heart of Jesus. The Body Jesus sacrificed on the Cross for us came only from Mary, and the Blood he shed for us came only from Mary as well, both united to Jesus' Divinity at the Incarnation.
May the memory of your own heart never ever forget that. There's no True Christianity without Mary and Jesus stated as much from the very Cross. Very, very, very respectfully? Knowing Jesus Mother Mary was such an amazing, faithful, humble and obedient woman, where are we told to elevate her? Don't we all love, honor, and respect our own mothers? Do you think Jesus loves, honors, and respects His mother, who gave him bodily form through her blood by the action of the Holy Spirit?
You were told by Jesus from the Cross, “Behold your Mother”…. And frankly that should be enough for anyone.
@@markthomas6436 Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
Matthew 12:48-50
While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus has never worshipped His mother. Neither should we. He loves Mary as He loves us all - enough to die for each one of us. Did Mary die on the cross for you? Did Mary defeat death for you? She was a holy woman but she is not God, she never will be. We honor her memory and example as a holy woman of God - but we should never glorify her, because to do so is to dishonor her memory and most importantly, dishonor God.

The closest anyone can come to "knowing" for certainty the teachings of Christ and his ministry are the apostles. Through their succession and history I know I am closest to that tradition in the RCC. Everyone else is guessing and I will not be risking my soul on guesses by individual humans who think they know best. Protestants require everything in their life to make them feel good and as a Catholic I am not guaranteed happiness or comfort in this life, in fact the opposite is asked of me and I carry those burdens with strength because that's what our Lord did.
