Game manager, system qb, not a pure natural qb. Pretty soon they’ll run out of dumb ways to discredit Purdy.
I know, it's insane. Highest QBR average for the entire season, and he's not even top 10?

And he put that season together without a training camp! Remember he was recovering from elbow surgery and he missed all of training camp.
As far as passing is concerned Lamar Jackson is not a top 25 QB in the league. He just isn't.

People forget Mahomes came in a great chiefs team with a great coach same situation as Purdy but they still can't give Purdy any credit!
Well, maybe because he must show he's a consistent winner, and actually win the game first before he can be considered Mahomes, to get the credit. But he did play well in the SB.

Eh, Mahomes is in a league of his own, and the second best QB in the NFL is an injured Mahomes. And I'm a 49er fan, btw, not a Chiefs homer. He's just that good. And you could see it in college if you pay attention. It's unfortunate the 49ers passed on him twice (traded down from 2, still didn't take him at 3).
None of that means Brock isn't one of the best QBs, and he's on his way to being a great one. But no one is ever catching Mahomes unless he has a career injury or nosedives. Mahomes does all the improvisational stuff Brock does, except he has a stronger arm, and does even more amazing things. Sorry, but that's just the reality. Brock will never be as good as Mahomes. But that doesn't mean he can't reach the Hall of Fame. Just has to continue this trajectory.

Being an athlete at the QB position in today's game is required. Don't worry, we will erase that. Brady didn't have a big arm either. But winning SBs erased all of that BS. Brock has to win a SB.

Many things needed to happen in order for Brock to have thrived in that game. He did his thing, but it was a whole team effort!

Purdy disrespect continues with another stupid list. Burrow and Rodgers didn't even play last year. Herbert has done nothing. Dak chokes in the playoffs. Stroud has one year. Again Lamar and Allen lost in the playoffs.

Brock Purdy since he took over vs Miami, is first in wins, second in touchdowns, second in completion percentage, and first in passer rating. Only three QBs in NFL history had a higher DVOA rating than Brock’s 2023 season Peyton Manning in 2004/2006, Dan Marino in 1984, and Tom Brady in 2007. Brock also broke the record for adjusted yards per attempt in NFL history after tearing his UCL. He lead his team to two NFC championships and one SB, and possibly would have made two SBs in his first two seasons, despite the 49ers bottom 10 pass blocking unit. He’s beat Dak multiple times… once in the playoffs, he beat Stafford on the road, and he beat Goff in the playoffs. Purdy is easily a top 10 QB.
Purdy showed in the playoffs he could make unscheduled plays, the o line broke down on him so many times, and I can make the argument his line is the worst out of all those qb’s you put over him and he still had better numbers

@@michaelwallace2487 Do you actually remember those games? Cleveland we lost on a missed kick after Purdy drove down the field in the rain; in Minnesota Purdy threw for 272 yards but Cousins went crazy with 378 yards; then the Bengals game was Joe Burrow's only good game last year so he smoked us.
The point is Brock Purdy's had 2 bad games in his career, other than that he's been money. I'm not going to get carried away and say he's the best, but if he keeps playing like he has you won't be able to argue with it.

Ehh... So by this logic, Jimmy G turned Deebo into a big name lol? I mean, Purdy is good no doubt, but the acquisition of CMC really helped free up some things in the passing game. Aiyuk was in the "doghouse" with Shanahan in 2021 but in 2022 he had over 1,000 yards with Jimmy G at the helm for over half of the season. Aiyuk was always ascending.
@@MJordanUX why would adding another running back be the reason Deebo began to have good numbers? QB is literally the one to throw the ball to the receivers so yea, there is a correlation.
@@Tackleqb I was talking about Aiyuk’s numbers for that part. But unlike other RBs, CMC is also a huge part of the passing game. He creates more spacing. Go look at WR “yards of separation” post-CMC. Deebo, Kittle & Aiyuk all had huge gains, Aiyuk with +.8 (aka wide open). Look at EPA/per play. And this was with Jimmy too. Defenses have more all-pro threats to worry about, the overall offense is more dangerous, Shanny can scheme crazy. While Purdy is obviously superior, Jimmy was also scoring more, gaining more, throwing less INTs & undefeated when CMC was fully integrated (also had top 3 passer rating lol).
Purdy have more playoff wins than most of those guys .

Literally what flaw does Herbert have other than team success he has great pocket presence, goes thru progressions, can extend plays with his feet, cannon of an arm, not turnover prone, amazing deep ball like what is it probably anticipation but that has a lot to do with play calling

Prescott and Goff had to throw a hundred and fifty more passes to get to Purdy's stats and Purdy did it against one of the toughest schedules in football.

CJ Stroud took the Texans to the playoffs because he is the unquestioned best player on the Texans! Coaching defenitely was a major factor also. It is always an excuse! Finally, someone lays it out clearly that knocking Brock for the team he's on as a negative against him needs to stop. Carton's right 99% of great QBs have had great talent around them. The Jim Kelly example wo winning a Superbowl is a solid example; that Bills squad was stacked. They had to deal with the Cowboys in the 90s though the way every team now has to deal with Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Purdy played behind the 26th best pass protection while delivering the NFL best passing efficiency...that is the definition of elevating the play of the offense around him.
Purdy was historically good with 62% completions on deep passes. Also, he led all passers with the most intermediate (20+) and long (40+) completions. That is not a function of the play calling and is beyond the control of great playmakers. It requires accurate passing.
Finally, prior to the current era, the previous GOATs at QB were Montana and Brady. Neither were first round picks because neither was 'prototypical'. Through a similar stage in their respective careers, Purdy is the better QB. He may be the best processor of the three. He might be the best off-schedule playmaker of the three.
It is a joke to compare Purdy to 10+ contemporaries. His only rival in the game now is Mahomes and otherwise he is competing with HOFs already.
Pure QB? Reading defenses, accuracy, elusiveness, audible at the line, makes every throw and throws further downfield than everyone else!

Burrow was getting glazed for having a bad o-line and getting it done even with all those great weapons he had. Purdy has the worst o-line apart from Trent Williams. And yet they keep saying he has a good line cause they look at Purdy sack numbers and see they aren’t that high and his accuracy. He just evades pressure well and even when it’s in his face still throws good balls so the numbers don’t reflect how shot his oline is but that man running for his life. Trade Purdys oline for Lamar’s, daks, goffa and his numbers improve significantly while I guarantee the others decrease significantly. Lamar mobile but his ability to read the field isn’t as good so his sack numbers will shoot up and he probably gets injured

4 Niners had over 1000 yards receiving. Same players. Different QB. Purdy elevated an already stacked team. His metrics were collectively better than everyone on the list. The lists have no merit or credibility. And, all these QBs benefit from their enviroments, even Mahomes.

Are they really saying Purdy has never had an off script type of play. I really think these guys speak without thinking about what they're about to say. Let's watch the Green Bay and Detroit games. These are just two examples of games where Purdy had off script games.
Lets look at Playoff Records after all isnt that how we judge Winners?? : Lamar Jackson: 6 years in League 6 playoff games with a 2 and 4 record. 26 Sacks 6 interceptions and 6 tds 76 QB rating. Jalen Hurts: 4 years in league 5 playoff games with a 2-3 record. 9 sacks 5 tds and 2 interceptions. 88 QB rating. Joe Burrow: 4 years in league 7 playoff games with a 5-2 record. 29 sacks 9 tds 4 interceptions. 94 rating. Brock Purdy @2 years in the League ! : 6 playoff games 4-2 record. 8 Sacks 6 TD's and 1 Interception. 96 rating. Ask John Harbaugh if he wanted PURDY instead of Jackson in that KC playoff game last year? I think he says YES and they would have likely beat the Niners in SB as well.

People put too much emphasis on what guys can do when things go wrong but not enough emphasis on what guys do when things are right. Yes every QB will perform better with a better supporting cast and when things don't break down protection wise but some guys are better at that than others.
Take Goff for instance he gets knocked for how he can't perform when things break down and that is true but the thing is things break down alot less than plays that don't. With a clean pocket Goff's advanced metrics and numbers were nearly 10% better than the next best QB. So on the 80%+ plays that don't end up in QBs getting pressured Goff was head and shoulders above the class. Yet folks that do this type of stuff ignore those things but instead focus on how guys perform on the 20% of plays that don't work out. It's just stupid.
Also they always undervalue the mental part like going through progressions, throwing accurately with anticipation(meaning throwing before a receiver gets open or makes his move) and having pocket awareness in the respect of knowing when you need to bail or not. Some guys have elite physical skills but lack these yet these rankings almost always just focus on the physical aspect.
No one is a bigger fan of Burrow than me, but he is a part time QB at the moment, so ranking a guy that plays 50% of the seasons in his career #2 is no bueno. Other than that the list is an opinion, so not worth getting all hot about it and fills up time ahead of the Magical Football season that is almost here!!
So how about ranking a guy that only played 4 snaps?
Shiesty is unequivocally a top 3 QB in this league regardless of playing time. He's missed 13 games behind one of the worse O line in football that has caused his freak injuries.
Any QB would have had their knee blown out behind that O line and the wrist was a byproduct of Clowney trapping Joe's wrist with his full body weight as he sacked him.
His 2 year playoff success to date is the greatest turnaround of any American sports team. Outside of Mahomes who was drafted to the perfect situation, Shiesty is the only player on this list besides Purdy that has advanced to a Super Bowl and AFCCG in back to back seasons and was the first #1 pick in NFL history to advance to a Super Bowl within his first 2 seasons.
Fingers crossed he doesn't have any more injuries for a few more seasons, but if he does than his place at the top of the QB list will no longer be justifiable, which breaks my heart.
@@allisondecker1918 Agree, I think one thing people take for granted is that bless his heart Ed Orgeron was not a good coach, and as a Dolphins fan we had Zac Taylor and I can tell you first hand he is not a good coach, yet Burrow made one a champion, and the other one a win away from being a Superbowl champion... The great Mahomes even had to have Reid to shine, this guy makes coaches shine in my opinion.
I guarantee if Burrow or Mahomes had the exact same numbers as Brock did this past season, they would be a lock for Top 10 no question. The Brock hate is real.

Who cares where he is ranked. If he wins the Super Bowl, these rankings will prove to be meaningless. Sports media has become full of people who just do not like Brock and so they disrespect him at every turn. They do not matter at all. Performance on the field is the only think that shuts them up in the eyes of the fans.

The only thing cj stroud excelled in over Brock Purdy was thowing less ints. Brock Purdy threw for more Yards, more passing touchdowns, the best passer rating AND QBR in the entire league all while having 100 less attempts than CJ which makes Brock crazy EFFICIENT. im sorry , but Cj Does not deserve to be ahead of Brock Purdy on any QB list. 🤷🏽♂️
The list is perfect. Prescott is a great guy at the mic. After losing games, he takes the blame and wears it like a champ as they make the annual early playoff exit. Herbert, I mean the hair, that hair look at it. I know we say that a season and a half is not enough to know what Purdy will be, so let's anoint CJ Stroud with one season; he was the number 2 pick in the draft, and Purdy was the last; there is no way Purdy can be as good as Stroud. The list is perfect!

Purdy doesnt have the physical ability of a Herbert but he has everything else. Every other position physical abilities matters but as a QB intangibles matter more than pure physical ability.
You can watch Purdy’s high school and college tape and he looks like the same guy just not as polished. He isn’t a diamond in the rough that Shanahan found and molded, he’s ALWAYS been this way.
Dak was a first round draft pick until he was arrested just before the draft with a dui charge.
9er fan here, I agree the owners and general managers would leave Purdy off the list because of the strength of the coaching and players.
Still the same could be said about Joe Montana and Steve Young.
I think Dak would not do well, because he does not play well under pressure.
The rest of that list are all high caliber outside of Mahomes who is just a monster.
Stroud is still unproven, Goff who is from the Bayarea - Novato is just now rising to be great.
I'd rather say there is a hair of a difference between all those players and Purdy has proven to be a top 10 qb unlike Dak.

But, when it counts the most, when the pressure is the on, you cannot count on Dak.
Dak will give you numbers on games that don't matter, just like some baseball players with high averages, and be quiet in the playoffs.
Dak has proven that he cannot be relied on in pressure situations.
As a 49er fan, I like Dallas with Dak and hope they keep playing him, because he shrinks in the playoffs.
That plus Dallas had not had a good head coach since Jimmy Johnson and before that Tom Landry.
Those of us fans from other teams really like Jerry Jones as he is the reason the "Boys" have not been to a Superbowl since 1995 and that is all because of Jimmy Johnson as he gave Jerry and Barry Switzer a Superbowl caliber team which Jones and Switzer ruined.

If you wanna include playoffs look at the games there is really only 1 where Dak actually really negativity effected the game. He out gunned Rodger’s his rookie season but we lost to the last second field goal, next our defense let the rams rush for 350 yards, as for the 49ers the offense me of those games our rushing game didn’t exceed 50 yards and I’ll be the first to admit the 49ers are the best defense in the NFL but only one of those games did Dak actually lose us the game and last year. Was that Daks fault for allowing 48? So I do under Dak gets most of the blame if you really break it down game by game Dak has done rather decent. It’s just either we can’t be a full team int rh playoffs we get there and someone thinks the season is over and sometimes that can Dak but for a majority it has been our defense and lack of running game. You yourself can admit Purdy wouldn’t be doing as good as he is if the 49ers didn’t have an absolute stellar run game. That take so much pressure of him and allows him to cook on the play action. Purdy actually played better than Josh Allen last year! Purdy had 4 bad games and one of them they still won (Green Bay)! Stafford has about the same amount of weapons as Brock and didn’t succeed! Dak come on man he didn’t beat 1st round and he has cee Dee! They put Goff up there and he played about the same as Brock with the same amount of weapons! Every single team has good weapons it’s just Brock knows exactly how to use them! To be fair he should be on the list!
