The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a forum for cooperation between 21 economies in the Pacific Ocean that was established in 1989.

APEC has three observers, namely the ASEAN Secretariat, the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), and the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Secretariat.
APEC Cooperation Principles
Cooperation in APEC is built on several principles, namely:
1.Consensus, which means that all decisions in APEC must be agreed upon by and benefit the 21 Member Economies.
2. Voluntary and non-binding which means that all agreements in the APEC forum are carried out voluntarily and are not binding.
3.Concerted unilateralism, which means the implementation of decisions is carried out jointly according to the capabilities of each economy, without reciprocity requirements.
4. Differentiated time frame, namely that every developed economy is expected to liberalize first
