Hello! I can't seem to figure out how to transfer photos from it to my laptop or phone. Do I need to purchase anything specific for the process or is there an easy way to do it?
On the laptop you can transfer with the usb data cable, or if you have a card reader on your laptop, just take the memory card out of the camera and put it in the card reader slot.
Where can i find a data transfer cord online, whats the name of the connection?

It's a great camera and it will work for sure, but you might need to change the battery. You cand find chargers and battery pack on Ebay or Aliexpress.
The film Olympus Mju-II have very nice exposure and was highly recommended by photography magazines leading to good sales. Many photographers carry it as a second or third camera for quick draw and shoot. It have the same sliding cover as this sony (compared with the easy to damage leaf-shutter type of integrated lens cover). People hate sony for being proprietary, especially with their stubborness on storage (betamax, miniDisc, memory-stick, ...). The performance of this sony camera is horrible but the form factor is approximately right.
If it is a 24mm-135mm(35mm film equivalent) in today's SDcard(not microSD), removeable nokia BL5C similar battery, charger that charges 2x batteries at once, good 8mp CCD sensor (no funny curvy propeller issues), flip up down LCD with viewfinder and rubber eye cup (optional diopter correction - swimming goggles cut-mod)... no wifi to hack, no bluetooth to hack... cables standard USB not type-c, ...
I have the same one, its 14 years old and recently bought a new battery for it, but the screen is purple. I dont know how, but it was fine after a couple restarts then it was back to purple. Do you know why is this and if there is a fix?

It does not have SD card...
The camera has 4gb of internal memory, and it has Memory Stick Duo/Pro Duo card slot.
You can transfer the photos from camera to a laptop with the data cable, and then from laptop to phone...

The original charger is SONY BC-CSD, and it's pretty expensive, around 60 usd, but you can find compatible aftermarket that are cheaper.

How does this compare to 2020 smartphone camera quality

Compared to 2020/2021 top smartphones / flagship - Iphone 11/12, Samsung S20/S21, the picture quality from T700 it's not that great... But if you compare it with the midlevel smartphones it's still good!
The main advantage is the 4x Optical Zoom & Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization.
I recommend you pack one on holiday for great photos!

@Pratham Sachdev - Hello! Please watch the video starting 02:15 min - in the package you will se a black charger where you have to insert the battery to charge. The battery charges separately from the camera, you can't charge the camera like a phone (plug in).

Yes, comparing to today's technology it's a bit old... I still pack it with me on vacations but to be honest i don't use it that much anymore...
The touch screen has faded and has some spots, as you can see in the unboxing, but it's still working ok for a 10 year old camera :)

It's because of the time passing... It's a 10 year old camera, and most of it's life was a display / demo / test product at a Sony store, and i got it cheap :)
