Matt, please , please, please, get in the habit of using safety glasses when you grind, use the drill, lathe, etc. One accident will change your life forever. I'm not yelling, I'm concerned. You are way to young for an eye patch. Excited to see the Cummins going down the road.
That's exactly my suggestion, not wearing safety goggles can change your life forever. We want to watch your videos for a long time, trust me. Greetings from Brazil. Take care.
I worked with a guy who'd been using a bench grinder, which jammed. He (to his eternal regret) took off his old, scratched safety glasses to see what was binding the (still switched on) machine. The material that was caught up exploded in his face. Now, years later, he says it's like having a dozen blind spots in each eye.
Grandpa bought a F-100 brand new in 1965, same color red, Custom Cab with the chrome accents, 352V8 and a three on the tree. I learned how to drive in that truck-this project brings back many great memories. The clutch return spring in ours sounded like an old garage door spring and took even more effort to push the clutch pedal in- Grandpa usually just used first and third to eliminate the extra shift. You may want to swap the rear gears, or the complete rear end, or add a splitter to keep the Cummins rpms down.
Afternoon Matt! Thank you for sharing this awesome swap video, I agree with the other safety glasses comments, but Matt, it's up to you if you want to wear safety glasses or not, but I guarantee after they drill out a piece of metal from your eyeball you will wear them after that....I've been doing fab work for the past 40+ years, the two times I had to have something dug out of my eyeball was at home working in the garage. Y'all be safe!!! God Bless!!
To have gotten that far in just 3 days is pretty impressive. This proves with the right tools and knowledge and the ability to work together it doesn't need to 5sje a month to accomplish something.
Matt you should check out The Fab Rats channel they are swapping a '97 12 valve into a roll back with a 49 chevy cab. The 12 vavle they are using is a 180hp one like you have. They go over "The Pin of Death" and they did a intake and turbo swap that will give them around 300hp and a ton of torque. I have been following both projects, and I honestly like yours better THe Cummings does not look squeezed in there it looks like it belongs in there. Nice work and Awesome content Matt! Keep on keeping on man!
Yeah, a little 4 cylinder diesel would be cool 😎, but that just might be crossing over to the "Rat Rod" area, and he really isn't into building those. 🤔hmm? Ya think so? 😮Mmmmaybe!
@@IronTrapGarage The system I bought was a complete system from the master cylinder, line and the rod that pushes the clutch fork. It was complete from top to bottom but still had air in the system.
Should have put a Ford motor in it but I won't knock a Cummins for reliability. My 7.3 L with the twin turbo has never let me down or never not pulled something easily.
Great swap, guys! You haven't mentioned why you needed the swap and what you hope the swap will allow you to do with that bitchin' ride. Why the swap? What are your plans with the truck? All the very best with it!
@@IronTrapGarage Thank you for taking the time to reply. That says something about you. That something is all good! 😉 Thank you for that! All the very best!
love how you are working on the diesel truck... yet you delegate more vid time to celebrating the duct tape fuel funnel than celebrating the truck's first start.

Who needs safety
@Mauscmkwk The one eyed man says.
One eye pete, three finger fred and the rest of the gang say all safety is good for is missing out on good nicknames

that is a clean swap. Nice Job guys !
So now you own a "Fummins"! I think you made a good move there. Keep the interesting vids coming.
coulda swapped in any ol' brand long as if went between the rails
That's awesome now you pay even more for diesel!!! It's more for diesel here in the state of Washington than gas!
Not here, but I don't often buy diesel!

Fastest 18 mins. Enjoyable to hear the engine run. Will wait for road test.
Thanks for helping Brent im sure he enjoyed that an appreciated it a lot God bless man be safe
Thank you Matt and crew for the update on the engine swap in hauler !
CONGRATULATIONS MATT!!!! SHE SOUNDS SIO GOOD!!!!
Awesome guys !!! You will now have a hauler that will cruise!!!!😊
And a hauler that's going to "HAUL!"😮😅
A shop full of geniuses! Loving the channel.
Haha rightttttt
Moooooon!!! The truck is gonna be sooo much funner to drive let alone the utilitarian use. Very cool swap! Keep kickin ass!!!
Love learning new words "hackery" 😁👍

Just ask Derek at Vice Grip Garage about safety glasses.👍👍🇨🇦
You need a chrome fuel cap, that’s period correct, nice work, looks good
Success. Can't wait to see it at Hershey.
GREAT VIDEO MATT AND CLINT!!!! I LOVE THE SIX-CYLINDER CUMMINS DIESEL!!!! A TOTALLY AWESOME UPGRADE FOR ANY WORK TRUCK. AND GREAT FOR DAILY DRIVERS.
Nice job guys
Hey guys are you changing the rear end gearing to bring down the rpms. Great build
Good to see the engine running.
Loving this build! Keep it up!
So cool! Not going to last long someone is going to offer you too much for you to keep it.
Good morning to you all and easiest diesel fuel motor to get running. Great work, I hope you have no issues with installing the new clutch.
Too bad you didn't get this done before Macungie truck show. Would liked to have seen it and meet you guys. Was looking for you
Matt had that same engine in a motor home. Great start on the install. 💯👍
Amazing progress on the diesel can’t wait to see you driving it down the road!!!!
Very KOOL So Far Guys

Great video!
Cummins is going well.
Looking Good. Will be on the Street soon!

The project is moving along 🐿 really well. But it took longer 🐿 than I thought it would.
That motor sounds awesome. Nice conversion as always top notch work from professional's.
Just hacks! Not professional at all!
Even if we aren’t doing a swap like this, it is all pretty interesting.
Very cool well done guy's
For real guys use your safety glasses !!
The truck is coming along great, nice job.
Sorry dad
Hahahaha
That was a lot of work for three days. What is your plan for the vacuum booster for the brakes or are you switching to hydro boost
Has one on the engine
Beautiful truck and great motor tranny combination for the upgrade.

The pin has been done by Clint before it was brought to me
Get you a Diesel Only sticker to put above the filler neck😂
Haha gonna need that!
Sounds like you are enjoying your turbo.
Not bad for your first time diesel swap.
another Ford has had it's heart tore out
7:42 Matt did you have enough room to make a hose coupler between the fill tube and the new return line?
Yep it ran on the tank in the video.
Where are you running your vacuum from for the brakes? Are you going to use a vacuum pump
It has one on the engine
As an old diesel mechanic, I loved this one. So, when are you putting a diesel in a hot rod? 😁
Yeah, a little 4 cylinder diesel would be cool 😎, but that just might be crossing over to the "Rat Rod" area, and he really isn't into building those. 🤔hmm? Ya think so? 😮Mmmmaybe!
Won’t see that on this channel.
check the intercooler size specs on a 6.0 psd ford or a 5.9 common rail (03-07) dodge. 10/10 I bet the old 1st gen intercooler leaks.
Guess we’ll get a replacement one if it leaks
@@IronTrapGarage ive checked alot of first and 2nd gen intercoolers, they always leak where the tubes meet the end tanks.
Hydro boost for the brakes
Future Matt ? Are you going to use a electric vacuum pump and a reservoir or swp to a hydro boost system for power brakes?
It has a vacuum pump stock on the engine.
10:00 you see the line from the vacuum booster to the pump.
I put a pre-bled slave cylinder on my 95 Chevy SS pickup that I purchased at Car Quest and still had to blead it.
Pre bled slave and a pre bled complete system are different. This was a slave and master all connected and bled. With fluid in the reservoir
@@IronTrapGarage The system I bought was a complete system from the master cylinder, line and the rod that pushes the clutch fork. It was complete from top to bottom but still had air in the system.
Any plans to fix the rust someday?
Maybe maybe not
nice job, hope you get what you want while hauling a car at highway speed
We can make changes if need be. We have the technology.
Gonna need a tach.
We aren’t racing
@@IronTrapGarage Haha!
That vacuum brake booster ain't gonna work with a diesel without a pump. Better to go hydro, and then put power steering in as well.
It has a vacuum pump on the engine…
10:00 you see the line from the vacuum booster to the pump
Cant go wrong with a cummins. If the trans is not an overdrive the truck wont be any faster
Clint said it was a nv5600 6 speed I believe
No room for a fuel tank under the bed?
The stock tank worked fine.
Should have put a Ford motor in it but I won't knock a Cummins for reliability. My 7.3 L with the twin turbo has never let me down or never not pulled something easily.
Ford came with Cummins as an option in big trucks..
Dude!! Another Dodge diesel gives up it's heart!! So a Ford can live!! Weird!!!✌️
At least he didn't put in a pos powerstroke
Great swap, guys! You haven't mentioned why you needed the swap and what you hope the swap will allow you to do with that bitchin' ride. Why the swap? What are your plans with the truck? All the very best with it!
Old engine/trans was low in power and torque for what we wanted to do
@@IronTrapGarage Thank you for taking the time to reply. That says something about you. That something is all good! 😉 Thank you for that! All the very best!
Where is the fan, intercooler & you should need a larger radiator.
The swap isn’t done obviously….
The radiator in the f600 is like 2x the capacity the stock 2nd gen dodge radiator has.
SUGGESTION: F100 BUILDERS MAGAZINE.
love how you are working on the diesel truck... yet you delegate more vid time to celebrating the duct tape fuel funnel than celebrating the truck's first start.
It was the most important thing that happened that day
SUGGESTION: DIESEL WORLD MAGAZINE.
Personally I would of try a body swap
