- Going for my first ride on the Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8. I give you my initial impressions of the bike, and compare it with the Tarmac SL7 that I've been riding for a few years now. Enjoy! #roadbike #cycling #cyclinglife #sworks #specialized #iamspecialized

When we listen to you, everything is always amazing... !
That’s good news. Or maybe, amazing news 😂
Now you got me hyped up. I'm having my frame built up tomorrow. This is my first specialized bike.
That’s great news! Let me know what you think! I bet you’re going to love it
Bike is looking sharp!
Thanks BRUH
One of the things I enjoyed switching to shimano was the integrated buttons on top of the hoods. I use them to shift up and down. My friend uses them to change screens on his computer.
Also if you have time to play with the shimano app you can also customize the paddles to make it sram style.
It certainly opens up some customization opportunities. I'm excited to play with it for sure! I'll download that app right now!
I just got an SL7, I’m interested on your thoughts on turbo cottons. I usually ride GP5000 STR tubeless on hookless rims, but maintenance can be a pain. I do enjoy the lower pressures.
Great tire though. I’ve been a fan of it so far.
Hi Mitch, great video! What size is your SL8? 58 or 61?
61cm
To keep the radar on i used a ziptie to secure the radar camera mount solud. Maybe that will work
I think I'll start with a new rubber band... See how that works, then start to slowly make drastic changes until damage occurs LOL
Congratulations bro...i have the 2022 s-works tarmac..this is my 2nd sl7 and ill probably get the SL8 in a few..im just waiting to see more frame colors..i own shimano 12 speed di2 and sram red..i find my shimano 12 speed faster and lighter..it just feels smoother, stronger and lighter than Sram red...enjoy & be safe out there. 😎🔥🔥🔥
Many thanks dude. I appreciate it as always! I think the Dura Ace stuff is crisp and smoother than the Red (for now). I'm curious what their answer will be next season.
@MitchOnTwoWheels yes indeed..people that only ride Sram think we're exaggerating..Shimano di2 just feels better in my opinion..glad you like the ride..
As an Ambassador did ya get a full on discount on retail price? 🤣
😂
one of the best bar on the market right now
im rocking the 38mm x 115m its really good
huge improvement from the last gen one piece bar
It’s pretty awesome! It’s super comfortable too… no one is talking about this.
Has anyone ridden the old rim brake S Works here pre disc bikes. They are Lighter, Faster, Stiffer, easier maintenance, dial in fit to perfection….
There’s always a place for old school… But technology has improved since. You can always track down an old frame for cheap, but the new stuff just rides smoother while not giving up any performance. Just because it’s “lighter” doesn’t mean it rides better. A few guys think the SL6 Rim is the best bike ever made… is it? Maybe… maybe not? Just have fun and ride whichever makes you stoked to ride it.
61cm size.. WOW ! You are very tall... I'm so jealous of you riding your bike with the saddle high in the sky.
lol. Pretty normal :)
Wow, really nice bike. How tall are you for that 61 frame size?
6-3 or so with fairly long legs.
Hi Mitch, what is your internal leg lenght? Could you please measure maximum saddle height from the bottom bracket to the saddle rails. I appreciate your help! BR from Poland!
Center of BB to top of center of saddle is 33-7/8” on mine. Not sure on my measurements. But this is always my baseline.
Thank you! ❤
@adamkiszkiel9006 Anytime dude.
Wondering how much of the "SL8 is much better than SL7" came from auto-suggestion after paying a lot if 💰💰💰... Nevertheless, new bike day is always exciting, I'm happy for you. Cheers 👍
Thanks!
How does it compare to the aethos?
Perhaps a video on this soon 😃
Hi, can you compare the sram and shimano in a video ? What’s your favorite group set ?
Because I want change my bike, I’m on the di2 11s and I want switch to 12s but I don’t know if I buy sram or shimano …
That could be fun! I’ll do that soon.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels thank’s because I saw many video and they can’t help me in my choice …
@benoitorives my video might not help either!… it may help make things worse 😂
@@MitchOnTwoWheels I’m waiting to see it.
From Your point of view what’s your preference ?
@@benoitorives I like the materials and setup of the Sram Red. But the Dura Ace is the better drivetrain. The hood accessory buttons alone are a game changer.
how did you plug your gopro below?
The insta 360 is mounted beneath the Garmin computer via an accessory mount included with the bike.
I purchased the quarter-turn to friction flange mount adapter but i cant find any 'male' garmin version that screws to the correct side....can you send me a picture of what you have below the mount? @@MitchOnTwoWheels
Send me a message on Instagram, and I'll send a pic over.
Wow considering this is your impression and you’re coming from an SL7 sworks, you make it sound like the difference is night and day! 😅
Awesome eh!
Whats the size of your SL8 ?
Mine is a 61cm
i am amazed how rich Americans are.
Me too
Me 3
Canadian accent is a bit of a give away as to NOT American
😂
Who's your LBS?
How come?
I am curious because I'm also in Calgary. Looks like you frequent Fish Creek
@@wingy72 The Bike Shop South :)
I just can't fathom shelling out the loot for an SL7 and then feeling the need to "upgrade" to an SL8 as if you're going to experience significant difference in performance between the two bikes. Is the SL8 really anything more than a less aesthically pleasing SL7? 🧐
Fair enough! Yes there are significant differences between the two bikes, but for some, it won't be enough of a difference to justify the upgrade. For me, I absolutely love both bikes!
How much lighter?
Frame is around 120 grams lighter.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels what are your thoughts on this? I feel it’s really not much, my headlight on my bike is 200g and I can’t tell when it’s on or off the mount. Or maybe when I’m riding with a banana in jersey pocket Vs no banana. Or am I missing something? I also really like the dune white paint job. My understanding is this finish weights more so maybe even less weight savings.
It's certainly noticeable. Tape the banana to your top tube and sprint with your bike, and notice the side to side weight? It's significant on a frame that was already a race-light design. Don;t get too caught up in which paint job weighs more, or less... It's very insignificant at the end of the day. If you want the lightest option, you can go for the "ready to paint" frame, which is essentially clear coated only. The main reason to buy the bike isn't just a weight savings, which alot of people are clinging to. It has a lot more to do with the overall ride quality of the design, and increased aero capability, while shedding weight. It's fantastic.. If you can get out and test ride one, I think you'll fall in love with it.
Lol most of the difference you're probably feeling is between the groupsets.
I’m very impressed with the Shimano groupo! I’ve been on Sram for 4 years straight now, and this is my first taste of it.
Guess I am buying one.
It’s only logical.
Want to sell me your sl7? 😅 thanks for the vid Mitch
You need a 61cm?
Yeah, I’m a 61cm. Can’t find them anywhere
@@willemvandenbosch3992 If you’re serious, I would absolutely sell it.
Dura Ace Di2 is night a day nicer than Red. Give me Dura Ace and the non S-Works model any day!
Nice combo!
