It's a shame this project did not get off the ground. It looked really fun and Marvin is a great character, They also mentioned a live-action CGI Bugs Bunny film that never went nowhere either. For a time I really thought a Live actions Looney Tunes shared universe could be amazing and considering how did Space Jame ANL turned out maybe it could have been the better direction.
As a huge Marvin the Martian fan when I saw that the movie got canceled I was devastated even though he looks kinda…. disturbing in the art style they gave him. I am so desperate for him to be the main character at least once I NEED MORE MARVIN REP
Loving this one! I always wondered about this movie. I'll be honest, I think I prefer your videos that cover more of the development/drama than the actual cancelled plots.
Looney Tunes: Back in Action is an absolute blast, more people should definitely watch it. Honestly, I remember it getting almost NO advertising at all as a kid- I only knew that it was a thing after it was out of the cinema, and I totally would have been into it, so I'd definitely call the film's lack of marketing a major factor- or absolutely none of it reached me, at least!
I'm so glad this showed up in my search results of actually a different video I was searching. There's a quote from AVGN that keeps popping up in my head because it is can't help but laugh at how funny it is and it's from one of his older episodes in 2008. He's about to review a game on his double vision two parter episode although I don't remember if it's from the intellivision or the calico vision. The game is called space Spartan and he asks something along the lines of "what is a space spartan? Is Marvin the Martian a space spartan?" I literally searched AVGN is Marvin the Martian a space spartan and ended up finding your video so even though I didn't find what I was looking for as I was trying to find a clip of him just saying the line as opposed to the entire episode, I'm happy to have found your video
I usually suspect shifts on the executive level when it comes to promising projects getting cancelled. People coming in like a clean slate under their reign.
I used to make my own video series looking into cancelled animated media, but unfortunately it never took off. So when I properly bring back my UA-cam channel, I'll probably just make a top 10 list instead. Merry Christmas also!
I'll never forget all excitement I had when they announced a Marvin film and then how pissed off I felt when I heard that they cancelled it. That was my second cancelled film experience after Spider-man 4 😡
Wow I remember when the test footage for this and Hong Kong Phooey first came out I watched it and I liked it, it was definitely better than the Hong Kong Phooey test which was just plain awful I really wish we got this movie because it had potential to be something fun. Also you forgot to mention that the kid in the test footage is Jake Short who was a Disney star and appeared in series A.N.T Farm, Mighty Med, and also appeared in the Robert Rodriguez kids movie Shorts, I’m not sure if he was supposed to be part of the main cast for the movie or if he was just hired for the test footage.
@@VidtopiaEntertainment despite the poor receptions of both movies, their first movies became successfully at the box office, but their sequels became flops
@@davidcortina2340 Yeah that’s true but I think Scooby Doo kinda won out at the end as the movies have now grown a cult following from people who saw it when they were kids and think they hold up pretty well to this day, while nobody remembers or even cares about the Garfield movies.
I got the impression that I thought it was cancelled because of the “batteries” gag, which would’ve been inappropriate for a PG rating, unless that’s not the case.
Look, if I were a director, I would like to have Marvin the Martian movie in 2D animation and storyline to have Marvin from trying conquer Earth to fighting other aliens to protect both Mars and Earth, leading him reluctant to work with human partner, know that redemption wasn't so bad
I remember seeing these shorts when they were released and not being particularly impressed. The parts with Marvin in his short were good, but there was this whole "we're relevant!" vibe before he showed up that instantly dated the whole thing, and I feel it might have endep up not very different from something like "The Smurfs", where you get a few faithful characters and a whole deal of family-friendly yet painfully bland misadventures. Though, to be fair, the whole thing was soured by being prefaced by the Hong Kong Phooey short, which was absolutely terrible in every way. Frankly, if that's the direction that particular film was going to take, I understand the studio not having faith in the director.
W have been like the first chipmunks movie a lovable romp. But like WB's ill advised Green Lantern being first step in a DC movie series you don't start with that! You start with Duck Dodgers.and 24½ Century!
They never and I mean truly never should’ve canceled this movie of Marvin the Martian live action movie. I actually wanted to see it happen but they had to go and canceled it. That’s annoying. They can’t just release a trailer and then just said oh we’re gonna cancel the movie. Let’s not release it. Let’s crush peoples hopes and dreams for people who actually got excited to see this. And then not let them see it that’s mean. And cruel. I was all for this. I wanted to see a live action Marvin, the Martian movie but they never give this movie a chance and then so they decide to cancel it that’s crazy and that’s not the type of world I want to live in why I see something cool that looks like it could be a great movie and then they cancel it in a perfect world that would be against the law
I would to see a version of My Dog Skip but with Marvin the Martian instead of the dog. The idea sounds hilarious to me. "Oh, my boy hates me. That makes me very sad. Very sad indeed. Oh! An open mausoleum! I think I'll go in and let these graverobbers unknowingly trap me inside where I will die alone and unloved. Isn't that lovely?" Would give me a reason to watch the movie again without my soul tearing apart at least.
Oh yeah and on another note i think a good title for the film would be "A very martian christmas" sort of like the goofy movie titles. Yes i do agree that i wish we would've gotten to see the full movie specially with that batteries joke funniest shit i've ever seen but aside from that the plot, the decent animation, characterization, the cast it all looks absurdly decent and fun.
You know, seeing how Coyote Vs Acme is going, I feel like this is gonna happen again. (Especially since Warner bros pulled the film from their release schedule.)
I really wish this movie came out. It would’ve been awesome to watch and i would’ve loved to see the boy we saw in the test footage became friends with marvin the martian.
Okay I've watched the video now and yeah I honestly did not know that this movie was in development and well obviously canceled. It does look like it could have been really cool though
I remember a Pepe le Pew movie being announced around the same time also voiced by Mike Myers I wonder if they were going to try and reboot the franchise with more character films but because they cancelled the Marvin movie they cancelled all other plans

But there was one or two Looney Tunes movies that were development before being cancelled like Pepe Le Pew (which was certainly cancelled for Space Jam 2) and the live-action Looney Tunes movie Jenny Slate was writing before leaving that project or was cancelled for not being not being what was demanded by Warner Bros.
