  • We need to cut some steel plate for our house piers. A couple episodes ago, we made some steel wheels and then built a homemade cart to fit an Oxy/Fuel, propane fueled cutting torch. Sinde we need some 12 inch steel circles cut from our salvaged steel plate, it was time to make a radius cutter that would aid making accurate round circles. Here is my spin on making that tool.

    Good video and job I think I will make one for my plasma cutter I have most of the parts if I can find them. Take care, be safe and well.

      Thank you. I think you will have an easier time making a radius tool for your plasma torch. If you have a drag type cap, the height and flame are no issue. I recently unloaded my plasma equipment and even a CNC table I built many years ago. Figured I had retired and did not need such nonsense. Thanks for watching and take care yourself!

    To set up faster, use a center point to find the center punch hole instead of drawing a circle .

      @SpencersMountain I won't lie! I just ordered two of those bushings an a locking collar from Amazon!! Lol! Beats $80+ dollars for a store bought with no magnetic base.

    Nice setup Steve, where will you be using the circles?

      @SpencersMountain  Рік тому +4

      Thanks, Lance. Circles will be top of concrete foundation piers. 8x8 steel tube will be columns on those plates that will correct elevation to level the floor. Salvage steel cheaper than wood and much stronger in the end. Thanks for watching!

      I appreciate the confidence! These type tools are commercially available with a quick internet search. Buying tools has the appearance of being expensive, however pretty much every tool I have ever purchased paid for itself several times over. There are many ways to make a similar tool and this video is simply one of them. Learning skills, putting those skills to use and concurring a vision can be very satisfying. Anything can be accomplished by breaking a bigger task into smaller steps. The trick is deciding where satisfaction comes from. Thank you for watching!
